1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
[x]MKJV: The Word of the LORD came to me again, saying, BBE: The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, KAV: {주}의 말씀이 다시 내게 임하니라. 2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
[x]MKJV: What is it to you that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the teeth of the sons [are] dull? BBE: Why do you make use of this saying about the land of Israel, The fathers have been tasting bitter grapes and the children's teeth are on edge? KAV: 너희가 이스라엘 땅에 대해 이 속담을 사용하여 이르기를, 아버지들이 신 포도를 먹었으므로 자녀들의 이가 시리게 되었다, 하거니와 그것은 무엇을 뜻하느냐?3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
[x]MKJV: [As] I live, says the Lord Jehovah, to you there is no longer any [occasion] to use this proverb in Israel. BBE: By my life, says the Lord, you will no longer have this saying in Israel. 4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
[x]MKJV: Behold, all souls [are] Mine. As the soul of the father, also the soul of the son, they [are] Mine. The soul that sins, it shall die. BBE: See, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so the soul of the son is mine: death will be the fate of the sinner's soul. 5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
[x]MKJV: But a man that is just and does what is just and right, BBE: But if a man is upright, living rightly and doing righteousness, KAV: ¶ 그러나 사람이 의로워서 율법에 맞는 일과 옳은 일을 행하며6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
[x]MKJV: and has not eaten on the mountains, nor has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor has defiled his neighbor's wife, nor has come near a menstruating woman, BBE: And has not taken flesh with the blood for food, or given worship to the images of the children of Israel; if he has not had connection with his neighbour's wife, or come near to a woman at the time when she is unclean; KAV: 산들 위에서 희생물을 먹지 아니하고 이스라엘의 집의 우상들을 향하여 자기 눈을 들지 아니하며 자기 이웃의 아내를 더럽히지 아니하고 생리 중에 있는 여자에게 가까이 가지 아니하며7 And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
[x]MKJV: and has not ill-treated any man, [but] has given the debtor's pledge back to him, has robbed none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry and has covered the naked with a garment; BBE: And has done no wrong to any, but has given back to the debtor what is his, and has taken no one's goods by force, and has given food to him who was in need of it, and clothing to him who was without it; KAV: 아무도 학대하지 아니하고 오히려 빚진 자에게 그의 담보물을 돌려주며 아무도 폭력으로 노략하지 아니하고 굶주린 자에게 자기 빵을 주며 옷으로 벌거벗은 자를 덮어 주고8 He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
[x]MKJV: he has not given out on usury, nor has taken any increase, he has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has done judgment between man and man, BBE: And has not given his money out at interest or taken great profits, and, turning his hand from evil-doing, has kept faith between man and man, KAV: 이자를 받으려고 돈을 내주지 아니하며 이득도 취하지 아니하고 자기 손을 억제하여 불법을 떠나며 사람과 사람 사이에 진실한 판단을 행하고9 Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
[x]MKJV: has walked in My statutes, and has kept My judgments to deal truly, he [is] righteous, he shall surely live, says the Lord Jehovah. BBE: And has been guided by my rules and has kept my laws and done them: he is upright, life will certainly be his, says the Lord. 10 If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
[x]MKJV: And if he fathers a son [who is] violent, who sheds blood, and who does to a brother [any] of these; BBE: If he has a son who is a thief, a taker of life, who does any of these things, KAV: ¶ 가령 그가 아들을 낳았다 하자. 11 And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
[x]MKJV: even if he does do not any of these himself, but his son] has, but has even eaten on the mountains, and has defiled his neighbor's wife; BBE: Who has taken flesh with the blood as food, and has had connection with his neighbour's wife, KAV: 그런 의무들은 하나도 행하지 아니하며 오히려 산들 위에서 희생물을 먹고 자기 이웃의 아내를 더럽히며12 Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
[x]MKJV: has ill-treated the poor and needy; thieving, he stole; has not given back the pledge; and has lifted up his eyes to the idols; has committed abomination; BBE: Has done wrong to the poor and to him who is in need, and taken property by force, and has not given back to one in his debt what is his, and has given worship to images and has done disgusting things, KAV: 가난하고 궁핍한 자를 학대하고 폭력으로 노략하며 담보물을 돌려주지 아니하고 우상들을 향하여 자기 눈을 들며 가증한 일을 행하고13 Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
[x]MKJV: has loaned on usury; and has taken increase; shall he then live? He shall not live! He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be on him. BBE: And has given out his money at interest and taken great profits: he will certainly not go on living: he has done all these disgusting things: death will certainly be his fate; his blood will be on him. 14 Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
[x]MKJV: And, lo, [if] he fathers a son who sees all his father's sins which he has done, and fears, and does not do like him; BBE: Now if he has a son who sees all his father's sins which he has done, and in fear does not do the same: KAV: ¶ 이제, 보라, 가령 그가 아들을 낳았다 하자. 15 That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
[x]MKJV: [who] has not eaten on the mountains; nor has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel; has not defiled his neighbor's wife; BBE: Who has not taken the flesh with the blood for food, or given worship to the images of the children of Israel, and has not had connection with his neighbour's wife, KAV: 산들 위에서 희생물을 먹지 아니하고 이스라엘의 집의 우상들을 향하여 자기 눈을 들지 아니하며 자기 이웃의 아내를 더럽히지 아니하고16 Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
[x]MKJV: nor has ill-treated any man; has not withheld the pledge; nor has robbed by violence; [but] has given his bread to the hungry; and has covered the naked [with] clothes; BBE: Or done wrong to any, or taken anything from one in his debt, or taken goods by force, but has given food to him who was in need of it, and clothing to him who was without it; KAV: 아무도 학대하지 아니하며 담보물을 취하지 아니하고 폭력으로 노략하지 아니하며 오히려 굶주린 자에게 자기 빵을 주고 옷으로 벌거벗은 자를 덮어 주며17 That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
[x]MKJV: has withdrawn his hand from the poor; has not received usury nor increase; has done My judgments; has walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live. BBE: Who has kept his hand from evil-doing and has not taken interest or great profits, who has done my orders and been guided by my rules: he will certainly not be put to death for the evil-doing of his father; life will certainly be his. 18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
[x]MKJV: His father, because he extorted, robbed [his] brother by robbery, and did [what is] not good among his people; lo, even he shall die in his iniquity. BBE: As for his father, because he was cruel, took goods by force, and did what is not good among his people, truly, death will overtake him in his evil-doing. 19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
[x]MKJV: Yet you say, Why? Does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done justice and right, has kept all My statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live. BBE: But you say, Why does not the son undergo punishment for the evil-doing of the father? When the son has done what is ordered and right, and has kept my rules and done them, life will certainly be his. 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
[x]MKJV: The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, nor shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him. BBE: The soul which does sin will be put to death: the son will not be made responsible for the evil-doing of the father, or the father for the evil-doing of the son; the righteousness of the upright will be on himself, and the evil-doing of the evil-doer on himself. 21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[x]MKJV: But if the wicked will turn from all his sins which he has committed, and keep all My statutes, and do justice and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. BBE: But if the evil-doer, turning away from all the sins which he has done, keeps my rules and does what is ordered and right, life will certainly be his; death will not be his fate. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
[x]MKJV: All his transgressions that he has done, they shall not be mentioned to him; in his righteousness that he has done he shall live. BBE: Not one of the sins which he has done will be kept in memory against him: in the righteousness which he has done he will have life. 23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
[x]MKJV: Do I actually delight in the death of the wicked? says the Lord Jehovah. Is it not that he should turn from his ways and live? BBE: Have I any pleasure in the death of the evil-doer? says the Lord: am I not pleased if he is turned from his way so that he may have life? 그가 돌이켜서 자기 길들에서 떠나 사는 것을 기뻐하지 아니하겠느냐?24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
[x]MKJV: But when the righteous turns from his righteousness and does injustice, [and] does according to all the abominations that the wicked do, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be remembered; in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die. BBE: But when the upright man, turning away from his righteousness, does evil, like all the disgusting things which the evil man does, will he have life? Not one of his upright acts will be kept in memory: in the wrong which he has done and in his sin death will overtake him. 25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
[x]MKJV: Yet you say, The way of the LORD is not fair. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not My way fair? Are your ways not unfair? BBE: But you say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Give ear, now, O children of Israel; is my way not equal? are not your ways unequal? 너희 길들이 불공평하지 아니하냐?26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
[x]MKJV: When a righteous one turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done, he shall die. BBE: When the upright man, turning away from his righteousness, does evil, death will overtake him; in the evil which he has done death will overtake him. 27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
[x]MKJV: Again, when the wicked turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does that which is lawful and righteous, he shall save his soul alive. BBE: Again, when the evil-doer, turning away from the evil he has done, does what is ordered and right, he will have life for his soul. 28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[x]MKJV: Because he looks carefully, and turns away from all his sins that he has committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. BBE: Because he had fear and was turned away from all the wrong which he had done, life will certainly be his, death will not be his fate. 29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
[x]MKJV: Yet says the house of Israel: The way of the LORD is not fair. O house of Israel, are not My ways fair? Are not your ways unfair? BBE: But still the children of Israel say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O children of Israel, are my ways not equal? are not your ways unequal? 너희 길들이 불공평하지 아니하냐?30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
[x]MKJV: So I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one of you according to his ways, says the Lord Jehovah. Turn and be made to turn from all your sins; and iniquity shall not be your stumbling-block. BBE: For this cause I will be your judge, O children of Israel, judging every man by his ways, says the Lord. Come back and be turned from all your sins; so that they may not be the cause of your falling into evil. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
[x]MKJV: Cast away from you all your sins by which you have sinned; and make you a new heart and a new spirit; for why will you die, O house of Israel? BBE: Put away all your evil-doing in which you have done sin; and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit: why are you desiring death, O children of Israel? 오 이스라엘의 집아, 너희가 어찌하여 죽고자 하느냐?32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
[x]MKJV: For I have no delight in the death of him who dies, says the Lord Jehovah. Therefore turn and live. BBE: For I have no pleasure in the death of him on whom death comes, says the Lord: be turned back then, and have life. |
