| 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God ㆍ: the powers that be are ordained of God. | 1 Let everyone put himself under the authority of the higher powers, because there is no power which is not of God, and all powers are ordered by God. | 1 각 사람은 위에 있는 권세들에게 굴복하라 권세는 하나님께로 나지 않음이 없나니 모든 권세는 다 하나님의 정하신바라 |
| 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. | 2 For which reason everyone who puts himself against the authority puts himself against the order of God: and those who are against it will get punishment for themselves. | 2 그러므로 권세를 거스리는 자는 하나님의 명을 거스림이니 거스리는 자들은 심판을 자취하리라 |

| 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. | 4 For he is the servant of God to you for good.
