3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.	3 Lord, they have put your prophets to death, and made waste your altars, and now I am the last, and they are searching for me to take away my life.	3 주여 저희가 주의 선지자들을 죽였으며 주의 제단들을 헐어버렸고 나만 남았는데 내 목숨도 찾나이다 하니

4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.	4 But what answer does God make to him? I have still seven thousand men whose knees have not been bent to Baal.	4 저에게 하신 대답이 무엇이뇨 내가 나를 위하여 바알에게 무릎을 꿇지 아니한 사람 칠천을 남겨 두었다 하셨으니

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.	5 In the same way, there are at this present time some who are marked out by the selection of grace.	5 그런즉 이와 같이 이제도 은혜로 택하심을 따라 남은 자가 있느니라

6 And if by grace, then is it no more ㆍ of works: otherwise grace is no more ㆍ grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more ㆍ grace: otherwise work is no more ㆍ work.	6 But if it is of grace, then it is no longer of works: or grace would not be grace.	6 만일 은혜로 된것이면 행위로 말미암지 않음이니 그렇지 않으면 은혜가 은혜되지 못하느니라

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded	7 What then? That which Israel was searching for he did not get, but those of the selection got it and the rest were made hard.	7 그런즉 어떠하뇨 이스라엘이 구하는 그것을 얻지 못하고 오직 택하심을 입은 자가 얻었고 그 남은 자들은 완악하여졌느니라

8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.	8 As it was said in the holy Writings, God gave them a spirit of sleep, eyes which might not see, and ears which have no hearing, to this day.	8 기록된바 하나님이 오늘날까지 저희에게 혼미한 심령과 보지 못할 눈과 듣지 못할 귀를 주셨다 함과 같으니라

9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare ㆍ, and a trap ㆍ, and a stumblingblock ㆍ, and a recompense unto them:	9 And David says, Let their table be made a net for taking them, and a stone in their way, and a punishment:	9 또 다윗이 가로되 저희 밥상이 올무와 덫과 거치는 것과 보응이 되게 하옵시고

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.	10 Let their eyes be made dark so that they may not see, and let their back be bent down at all times.	10 저희 눈은 흐려 보지 못하고 저희 등은 항상 굽게 하옵소서 하였느니라

11 I say then ㆍ, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid ㆍ: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.	11 So I say, Were their steps made hard in order that they might have a fall? In no way: but by their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles, so that they might be moved to envy.	11 그러므로 내가 말하노니 저희가 넘어지기까지 실족하였느뇨 그럴 수 없느니라 저희의 넘어짐으로 구원이 이방인에게 이르러 이스라엘로 시기나게 함이니라

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?	12 Now, if their fall is the wealth of the world, and their loss the wealth of the Gentiles, how much greater will be the glory when they are made full?	12 저희의 넘어짐이 세상의 부요함이 되며 저희의 실패가 이방인의 부요함이 되거든 하물며 저희의 충만함이리요

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as ㆍ ㆍ I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:	13 But I say to you, Gentiles, in so far as I am the Apostle of the Gentiles, I make much of my position:	13 내가 이방인인 너희에게 말하노라 내가 이방인의 사도인만큼 내 직분을 영광스럽게 여기노니

14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.	14 If in any way those who are of my flesh may be moved to envy, so that some of them may get salvation by me.	14 이는 곧 내 골육을 아무쪼록 시기케 하여 저희 중에서 얼마를 구원하려 함이라

15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?	15 For, if by their putting away, the rest of men have been made friends with God, what will their coming back again be, but life from the dead?	15 저희를 버리는 것이 세상의 화목이 되거든 그 받아들이는 것이 죽은 자 가운데서 사는 것이 아니면 무엇이리요

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.	16 And if the first-fruit is holy, so is the mass: and if the root is holy, so are the branches.	16 제사하는 처음 익은 곡식 가루가 거룩한즉 떡덩이도 그러하고 뿌리가 거룩한즉 가지도 그러하니라

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;	17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, an olive-tree of the fields, were put in among them, and were given a part with them in the root by which the olive-tree is made fertile,	17 또한 가지 얼마가 꺾여졌는데 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자 되었은즉

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.	18 Do not be uplifted in pride over the branches: because it is not you who are the support of the root, but it is by the root that you are supported.	18 그 가지들을 향하여 자긍하지 말라 자긍할찌라도 네가 뿌리를 보전하는 것이 아니요 뿌리가 너를 보전하는 것이니라

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.	19 You will say, Branches were broken off so that I might be put in.	19 그러면 네 말이 가지들이 꺾이운 것은 나로 접붙임을 받게 하려 함이라 하리니

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:	20 Truly, because they had no faith they were broken off, and you have your place by reason of your faith. Do not be lifted up in pride, but have fear;	20 옳도다 저희는 믿지 아니하므로 꺾이우고 너는 믿으므로 섰느니라 높은 마음을 품지 말고 도리어 두려워하라

21 For if God spared not the natural branches ㆍ, take heed lest ㆍ he also spare not thee.	21 For, if God did not have mercy on the natural branches, he will not have mercy on you.	21 하나님이 원 가지들도 아끼지 아니하셨은즉 너도 아끼지 아니하시리라

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell ㆍ, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.	22 See then that God is good but his rules are fixed: to those who were put away he was hard, but to you he has been good, on the condition that you keep in his mercy; if not, you will be cut off as they were.	22 그러므로 하나님의 인자와 엄위를 보라 넘어지는 자들에게는 엄위가 있으니 너희가 만일 하나님의 인자에 거하면 그 인자가 너희에게 있으리라 그렇지 않으면 너도 찍히는바 되리라

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.	23 And they, if they do not go on without faith, will be united to the tree again, because God is able to put them in again.	23 저희도 믿지 아니하는데 거하지 아니하면 접붙임을 얻으리니 이는 저희를 접붙이실 능력이 하나님께 있음이라

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?	24 For if you were cut out of a field olive-tree, and against the natural use were united to a good olive-tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be united again with the olive-tree which was theirs?	24 네가 원 돌감람나무에서 찍힘을 받고 본성을 거스려 좋은 감람나무에 접붙임을 얻었은즉 원 가지인 이 사람들이야 얼마나 더 자기 감람나무에 접붙이심을 얻으랴

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.	25 For it is my desire, brothers, that this secret may be clear to you, so that you may not have pride in your knowledge, that Israel has been made hard in part, till all the Gentiles have come in;	25 형제들아 너희가 스스로 지혜 있다 함을 면키 위하여 이 비밀을 너희가 모르기를 내가 원치 아니하노니 이 비밀은 이방인의 충만한 수가 들어오기까지 이스라엘의 더러는 완악하게 된 것이라

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:	26 And so all Israel will get salvation: as it is said in the holy Writings, There will come out of Zion the One who makes free; by him wrongdoing will be taken away from Jacob:	26 그리하여 온 이스라엘이 구원을 얻으리라 기록된바 구원자가 시온에서 오사 야곱에게서 경건치 않은 것을 돌이키시겠고

27 For this is my ㆍ covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.	27 And this is my agreement with them, when I will take away their sins.	27 내가 저희 죄를 없이 할 때에 저희에게 이루어질 내 언약이 이것이라 함과 같으니라

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes ㆍ: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers sakes.	28 As far as the good news is in question, they are cut off from God on account of you, but as far as the selection is in question, they are loved on account of the fathers.	28 복음으로 하면 저희가 너희를 인하여 원수 된 자요 택하심으로 하면 조상들을 인하여 사랑을 입은 자라

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.	29 Because God's selection and his mercies may not be changed.	29 하나님의 은사와 부르심에는 후회하심이 없느니라

30 For as ㆍ ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:	30 For as you, in time past, were not under the rule of God, but now have got mercy through their turning away,	30 너희가 전에 하나님께 순종치 아니하더니 이스라엘에 순종치 아니함으로 이제 긍휼을 입었는지라

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.	31 So in the same way these have gone against the orders of God, so that by the mercy given to you they may now get mercy.	31 이와 같이 이 사람들이 순종치 아니하니 이는 너희에게 베푸시는 긍휼로 이제 저희도 긍휼을 얻게 하려 하심이니라

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.	32 For God has let them all go against his orders, so that he might have mercy on them all.	32 하나님이 모든 사람을 순종치 아니하는 가운데 가두어 두심은 모든 사람에게 긍휼을 베풀려 하심이로다

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!	33 O how deep is the wealth of the wisdom and knowledge of God! no one is able to make discovery of his decisions, and his ways may not be searched out.	33 깊도다 하나님의 지혜와 지식의 부요함이여, 그의 판단은 측량치 못할것이며 그의 길은 찾지 못할 것이로다

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?	34 Who has knowledge of the mind of the Lord? or who has taken part in his purposes?	34 누가 주의 마음을 알았느뇨 누가 그의 모사가 되었느뇨

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?	35 Or who has first given to him, and it will be given back to him again?	35 누가 주께 먼저 드려서 갚으심을 받겠느뇨

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.	36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things. To him be the glory for ever. So be it.	36 이는 만물이 주에게서 나오고 주로 말미암고 주에게로 돌아감이라 영광이 그에게 세세에 있으리로다 아멘

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
