Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.1 1
I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:2 Opening my mouth I will give out a story, even the dark sayings of old times;2
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.3 Which have come to our hearing and our knowledge, as they were given to us by our fathers.3
We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.4 We will not keep them secret from our children; we will make clear to the coming generation the praises of the Lord and his strength, and the great works of wonder which he has done.4 우리가 이를 그 자손에게 숨기지 아니하고 여호와의 영예와 그 능력과 기이한 사적을 후대에 전하리로다
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:5 He put up a witness in Jacob, and made a law in Israel; which he gave to our fathers so that they might give knowledge of them to their children;5 여호와께서 증거를 야곱에게 세우시며 법도를 이스라엘에게 정하시고 우리 열조에게 명하사 저희 자손에게 알게 하라 하셨으니
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:6 So that the generation to come might have knowledge of them, even the children of the future, who would give word of them to their children;6 이는 저희로 후대 곧 후생 자손에게 이를 알게 하고 그들은 일어나 그 자손에게 일러서
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:7 So that they might put their hope in God, and not let God's works go out of their minds, but keep his laws;7 저희로 그 소망을 하나님께 두며 하나님의 행사를 잊지 아니하고 오직 그 계명을 지켜서
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.8 And not be like their fathers, a stiff-necked and uncontrolled generation; a generation whose heart was hard, whose spirit was not true to God.8 그 열조 곧 완고하고 패역하여 그 마음이 정직하지 못하며 그 심령은 하나님께 충성치 아니한 세대와 같지 않게 하려 하심이로다
The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.9 The children of Ephraim, armed with bows, were turned back on the day of the fight.9 에브라임 자손은 병기를 갖추며 활을 가졌으나 전쟁의 날에 물러갔도다
They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;10 They were not ruled by God's word, and they would not go in the way of his law;10
And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had showed them.11 They let his works go out of their memory, and the wonders which he had made them see.11 여호와의 행하신 것과 저희에게 보이신 기사를 잊었도다
Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.12 He did great works before the eyes of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.12 옛적에 하나님이 애굽 땅 소안 들에서 기이한 일을 저희 열조의 목전에서 행하셨으되
He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.13 The sea was cut in two so that they might go through; the waters were massed together on this side and on that.13 저가 바다를 갈라 물을 무더기 같이 서게 하시고 저희로 지나게 하셨으며
In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.14 In the daytime he was guiding them in the cloud, and all through the night with a light of fire.14 낮에는 구름으로, 온 밤에는 화광으로 인도하셨으며
He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.15 The rocks of the waste land were broken by his power, and he gave them drink as out of the deep waters.15 광야에서 반석을 쪼개시고 깊은 수원에서 나는 것 같이 저희에게 물을 흡족히 마시우셨으며
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.16 He made streams come out of the rock; and waters came flowing down like rivers.16
And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.17 And they went on sinning against him even more, turning away from the Most High in the waste land;17 저희는 계속하여 하나님께 범죄하여 황야에서 지존자를 배반하였도다
And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.18 Testing God in their hearts, requesting meat for their desire.18
Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?19 They said bitter words against God, saying, Is God able to make ready a table in the waste land?19 그 뿐 아니라 하나님을 대적하여 말하기를 하나님이 광야에서 능히 식탁을 준비하시랴
Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?20 See, the rock was cut open by his power, so that the water came rushing out, and overflowing streams; is he able to give us bread? is he able to get meat for his people?20 저가 반석을 쳐서 물을 내시매 시내가 넘쳤거니와 또 능히 떡을 주시며 그 백성을 위하여 고기를 예비하시랴 하였도다
Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;21 So these things came to the Lord's ears, and he was angry; and a fire was lighted against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel;21 그러므로 여호와께서 듣고 노하심이여 야곱을 향하여 노가 맹렬하며 이스라엘을 향하여 노가 올랐으니
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:22 Because they had no faith in God, and no hope in his salvation.22
Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,23 And he gave orders to the clouds on high, and the doors of heaven were open;23
And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.24 And he sent down manna like rain for their food, and gave them the grain of heaven.24 저희에게 만나를 비같이 내려 먹이시며 하늘 양식으로 주셨나니
Man did eat angels food: he sent them meat to the full.25 Man took part in the food of strong ones; he sent them meat in full measure.25
He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.26 He sent an east wind from heaven, driving on the south wind by his power.26 저가 동풍으로 하늘에서 일게 하시며 그 권능으로 남풍을 인도하시고
He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:27 He sent down meat on them like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the sea,27 저희에게 고기를 티끌 같이 내리시니 곧 바다 모래 같은 나는 새라
And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.28 And he let it come down into their resting-place, round about their tents.28
So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;29 So they had food and were full; for he gave them their desire;29
They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,30 But they were not turned from their desires; and while the food was still in their mouths,30 저희가 그 욕심에서 떠나지 아니하고 저희 식물이 아직 그 입에 있을 때에
The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.31 The wrath of God came on them, and put to death the fattest of them, and put an end to the young men of Israel.31 하나님이 저희를 대하여 노를 발하사 저희 중 살진 자를 죽이시며 이스라엘의 청년을 쳐 엎드러뜨리셨도다
For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.32 For all this they went on sinning even more, and had no faith in his great wonders.32
Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.33 So their days were wasted like a breath, and their years in trouble.33
When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired early after God.34 When he sent death on them, then they made search for him; turning to him and looking for him with care;34 하나님이 저희를 죽이실 때에 저희가 그에게 구하며 돌이켜 하나님을 간절히 찾았고
And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.35 In the memory that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their saviour.35
Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.36 But their lips were false to him, and their tongues were untrue to him;36 그러나 저희가 입으로 그에게 아첨하며 자기 혀로 그에게 거짓을 말하였으니
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.37 And their hearts were not right with him, and they did not keep their agreement with him.37 이는 하나님께 향하는 저희 마음이 정함이 없으며 그의 언약에 성실치 아니하였음이로다
But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.38 But he, being full of pity, has forgiveness for sin, and does not put an end to man: frequently turning back his wrath, and not being violently angry.38 오직 하나님은 자비하심으로 죄악을 사하사 멸하지 아니하시고 그 진노를 여러번 돌이키시며 그 분을 다 발하지 아니하셨으니
For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.39 So he kept in mind that they were only flesh; a breath which is quickly gone, and will not come again.39 저희는 육체뿐이라 가고 다시 오지 못하는 바람임을 기억하셨음이로다
How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!40 How frequently did they go against him in the waste land, and give him cause for grief in the dry places!40 저희가 광야에서 그를 반항하며 사막에서 그를 슬프시게 함이 몇번인고
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.41 Again they put God to the test, and gave pain to the Holy One of Israel.41
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.42 They did not keep in mind the work of his hand, or the day when he took them from the power of their haters;42 저희가 그의 권능을 기억지 아니하며 대적에게서 구속하신 날도 생각지 아니하였도다
How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:43 How he had done his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan;43
And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.44 So that their rivers were turned to blood, and they were not able to get drink from their streams.44 저희의 강과 시내를 피로 변하여 저희로 마실 수 없게 하시며
He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.45 He sent different sorts of flies among them, poisoning their flesh; and frogs for their destruction.45 파리 떼를 저희 중에 보내어 물게 하시고 개구리를 보내어 해하게 하셨으며
He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.46 He gave the increase of their fields to worms, the fruits of their industry to the locusts.46 저희의 토산물을 황충에게 주시며 저희의 수고한 것을 메뚜기에게 주셨으며
He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with frost.47 He sent ice for the destruction of their vines; their trees were damaged by the bitter cold.47 저희 포도나무를 우박으로, 저희 뽕나무를 서리로 죽이셨으며
He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.48 Ice was rained down on their cattle; thunderstorms sent destruction among the flocks.48
He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.49 He sent on them the heat of his wrath, his bitter disgust, letting loose evil angels among them.49 그 맹렬한 노와 분과 분노와 고난 곧 벌하는 사자들을 저희에게 내려 보내셨으며
He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;50 He let his wrath have its way; he did not keep back their soul from death, but gave their life to disease.50 그 노를 위하여 치도하사 저희 혼의 사망을 면케 아니하시고 저희 생명을 염병에 붙이셨으며
And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:51 He gave to destruction all the first sons of Egypt; the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;51 애굽에서 모든 장자 곧 함의 장막에 있는 그 기력의 시작을 치셨으나
But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.52 But he took his people out like sheep, guiding them in the waste land like a flock.52 자기 백성을 양 같이 인도하여 내시고 광야에서 양떼 같이 지도하셨도다
And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.53 He took them on safely so that they had no fear; but their haters were covered by the sea.53 저희를 안전히 인도하시니 저희는 두려움이 없었으나 저희 원수는 바다에 엄몰되었도다
And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.54 And he was their guide to his holy land, even to the mountain, which his right hand had made his;54 저희를 그 성소의 지경 곧 그의 오른손이 취하신 산으로 인도하시고
He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.55 Driving out nations before them, marking out the line of their heritage, and giving the people of Israel their tents for a resting-place.55 또 열방을 저희 앞에서 쫓아 내시며 줄로 저희 기업을 분배하시고 이스라엘 지파로 그 장막에 거하게 하셨도다
Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:56 But they were bitter against the Most High God, testing him, and not keeping his laws;56 그럴찌라도 저희가 지존하신 하나님을 시험하며 반항하여 그 증거를 지키지 아니하며
But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.57 Their hearts were turned back and untrue like their fathers; they were turned to one side like a twisted bow.57 저희 열조 같이 배반하고 궤사를 행하여 속이는 활 같이 빗가서
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.58 They made him angry with their high places; moving him to wrath with their images.58 자기 산당으로 그 노를 격동하며 저희 조각한 우상으로 그를 진노케 하였으매
When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:59 When this came to God's ears he was very angry, and gave up Israel completely;59
So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;60 So that he went away from the holy place in Shiloh, the tent which he had put among men;60 실로의 성막 곧 인간에 세우신 장막을 떠나시고
And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.61 And he let his strength be taken prisoner, and gave his glory into the hands of his hater.61 그 능력된 자를 포로에 붙이시며 자기 영광을 대적의 손에 붙이시고
He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.62 He gave his people up to the sword, and was angry with his heritage.62
The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.63 Their young men were burned in the fire; and their virgins were not praised in the bride-song.63 저희 청년은 불에 살라지고 저희 처녀에게는 혼인 노래가 없으며
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.64 Their priests were put to death by the sword, and their widows made no weeping for them.64 저희 제사장들은 칼에 엎드러지고 저희 과부들은 애곡하지 못하였도다
Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.65 Then was the Lord like one awaking from sleep, and like a strong man crying out because of wine.65 때에 주께서 자다가 깬자 같이, 포도주로 인하여 외치는 용사같이 일어나사
And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.66 His haters were turned back by his blows and shamed for ever.66
Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:67 And he put the tent of Joseph on one side, and took not the tribe of Ephraim;67
But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.68 But he took the tribe of Judah for himself, and the mountain of Zion, in which he had pleasure.68
And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.69 And he made his holy place like the high heaven, like the earth which is fixed by him for ever.69 그 성소를 산의 높음 같이, 영원히 두신 땅 같이 지으셨으며
He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:70 He took David to be his servant, taking him from the place of the flocks;70
From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.71 From looking after the sheep which were giving milk, he took him to give food to Jacob his people, and to Israel his heritage.71 젖 양을 지키는 중에서 저희를 이끄사 그 백성인 야곱, 그 기업인 이스라엘을 기르게 하셨더니
So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.72 So he gave them food with an upright heart, guiding them by the wisdom of his hands.72 이에 저가 그 마음의 성실함으로 기르고 그 손의 공교함으로 지도하였도다
