| 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. | 1 My son, keep my sayings, and let my rules be stored up with you.
| 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. | 2 Keep my rules and you will have life; let my teaching be to you as the light of your eyes; | 2 내 명령을 지켜서 살며 내 법을 네 눈동자처럼 지키라 |
| 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. | 3 Let them be fixed to your fingers, and recorded in your heart. | 3
| 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman: | 4 Say to wisdom, You are my sister; let knowledge be named your special friend: | 4 지혜에게 너는 내 누이라 하며 명철에게 너는 내 친족이라 하라 |
| 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words. | 5 So that they may keep you from the strange woman, even from her whose words are smooth.
| 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, | 6 Looking out from my house, and watching through the window, | 6
| 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, | 7 I saw among the young men one without sense, | 7
| 8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, | 8 Walking in the street near the turn of her road, going on the way to her house, | 8 그가 거리를 지나 음녀의 골목 모퉁이로 가까이 하여 그 집으로 들어가는데 |
| 9 In the twilight, in the evening ㆍ, in the black and dark night: | 9 At nightfall, in the evening of the day, in the black dark of the night.
| 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtle of heart. | 10 And the woman came out to him, in the dress of a loose woman, with a designing heart; | 10 그 때에 기생의 옷을 입은 간교한 계집이 그를 맞으니 |
| 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: | 11 She is full of noise and uncontrolled; her feet keep not in her house. | 11
| 12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) | 12 Now she is in the street, now in the open spaces, waiting at every turning of the road.
| 13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, | 13 So she took him by his hand, kissing him, and without a sign of shame she said to him: | 13 그 계집이 그를 붙잡고 입을 맞추며 부끄러움을 모르는 얼굴로 말하되 |
| 14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows. | 14 I have a feast of peace-offerings, for today my oaths have been effected. | 14
| 15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. | 15 So I came out in the hope of meeting you, looking for you with care, and now I have you.
| 16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. | 16 My bed is covered with cushions of needlework, with coloured cloths of the cotton thread of Egypt; | 16 내 침상에는 화문 요와 애굽의 문채 있는 이불을 폈고 |
| 17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. | 17 I have made my bed sweet with perfumes and spices. | 17
| 18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. | 18 Come, let us take our pleasure in love till the morning, having joy in love's delights.
| 19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey: | 19 For the master of the house is away on a long journey: | 19
| 20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed. | 20 He has taken a bag of money with him; he is coming back at the full moon. | 20
| 21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. | 21 With her fair words she overcame him, forcing him with her smooth lips.
| 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; | 22 The simple man goes after her, like an ox going to its death, like a roe pulled by a cord; | 22 소년이 곧 그를 따랐으니 소가 푸주로 가는 것 같고 미련한 자가 벌을 받으려고 쇠사슬에 매이러 가는 것과 일반이라 |
| 23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life. | 23 Like a bird falling into a net; with no thought that his life is in danger, till an arrow goes into his side.
| 24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. | 24 So now, my sons, give ear to me; give attention to the sayings of my mouth; | 24
| 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. | 25 Let not your heart be turned to her ways, do not go wandering in her footsteps. | 25
| 26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. | 26 For those wounded and made low by her are great in number; and all those who have come to their death through her are a great army.
| 27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. | 27 Her house is the way to the underworld, going down to the rooms of death. | 27
