1Wineis a mocker, strong drinkisraging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
1 Wine makes men foolish, and strong drink makes men come to blows; and whoever comes into error through these is not wise.
1 포도주는 거만케 하는 것이요 독주는 떠들게 하는 것이라 무릇 이에 미혹되는 자에게는 지혜가 없느니라
2 The fear of a kingis as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to angersinnethagainst his own soul.
2 The wrath of a king is like the loud cry of a lion: he who makes him angry does wrong against himself.
2 왕의 진노는 사자의 부르짖음 같으니 그를 노하게 하는 것은 자기의 생명을 해하는 것이니라
3It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
3 It is an honour for a man to keep from fighting, but the foolish are ever at war.
3 다툼을 멀리 하는 것이 사람에게 영광이어늘 미련한 자마다 다툼을 일으키느니라
4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
4 The hater of work will not do his ploughing because of the winter; so at the time of grain-cutting he will be requesting food and will get nothing.
4 게으른 자는 가을에 밭 갈지 아니하나니 그러므로 거둘 때에는 구걸할찌라도 얻지 못하리라
5Counsel in the heart of manis likedeepwater; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
5 The purpose in the heart of a man is like deep water, but a man of good sense will get it out.
5 사람의 마음에 있는 모략은 깊은 물 같으니라 그럴찌라도 명철한 사람은 그것을 길어 내느니라
6Mostmen will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithfulman who can find?
6 Most men make no secret of their kind acts: but where is a man of good faith to be seen?
6 많은 사람은 각기 자기의 인자함을 자랑하나니 충성된 자를 누가 만날 수 있으랴
7 The justmanwalketh in his integrity: his childrenareblessedafter him.
7 An upright man goes on in his righteousness: happy are his children after him!
7 완전히 행하는 자가 의인이라 그 후손에게 복이 있느니라
8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
8 A king on the seat of judging puts to flight all evil with his eyes.
8 심판 자리에 앉은 왕은 그 눈으로 모든 악을 흩어지게 하느니라
9 Who can say, I have made my heartclean, I am pure from my sin?
9 Who is able to say, I have made my heart clean, I am free from my sin?
9 내가 내 마음을 정하게 하였다 내 죄를 깨끗하게 하였다 할 자가 누구뇨
10 Divers weightsㆍ, and divers measuresㆍ, both of them arealikeabomination to the LORD.
10 Unequal weights and unequal measures, they are all disgusting to the Lord.
10 한결 같지 않은 저울 추와 말은 다 여호와께서 미워하시느니라
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his workbepure, and whether it beright.
11 Even a child may be judged by his doings, if his work is free from sin and if it is right.
11 비록 아이라도 그 동작으로 자기의 품행의 청결하며 정직한 여부를 나타내느니라
12 The hearingear, and the seeingeye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye are equally the Lord's work.
12 듣는 귀와 보는 눈은 다 여호와의 지으신 것이니라
13Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
13 Do not be a lover of sleep, or you will become poor: keep your eyes open, and you will have bread enough.
13 너는 잠자기를 좋아하지 말라 네가 빈궁하게 될까 두려우니라 네 눈을 뜨라 그리하면 양식에 족하리라
14It isnaught, it isnaught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
14 A poor thing, a poor thing, says he who is giving money for goods: but when he has gone on his way, then he makes clear his pride in what he has got.
14 사는 자가 물건이 좋지 못하다 좋지 못하다 하다가 돌아간 후에는 자랑하느니라
15 There isgold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledgeare a preciousjewel.
15 There is gold and a store of corals: but the lips of knowledge are a jewel of great price.
15 세상에 금도 있고 진주도 많거니와 지혜로운 입술이 더욱 귀한 보배니라
16Take his garment that is suretyfor a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
16 Take a man's clothing if he makes himself responsible for a strange man, and get an undertaking from him who gives his word for strange men.
16 타인을 위하여 보증이 된 자의 옷을 취하라 외인들의 보증이 된 자는 그 몸을 볼모잡힐찌니라
17Bread of deceitissweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but after, his mouth will be full of sand.
17 속이고 취한 식물은 맛이 좋은듯하나 후에는 그 입에 모래가 가득하게 되리라
18Everypurpose is established by counsel: and with good advicemakewar.
18 Every purpose is put into effect by wise help: and by wise guiding make war.
18 무릇 경영은 의논함으로 성취하나니 모략을 베풀고 전쟁할찌니라
19 He that goeth aboutas a talebearerrevealethsecrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
19 He who goes about talking of the business of others gives away secrets: so have nothing to do with him whose lips are open wide.
19 두루 다니며 한담하는 자는 남의 비밀을 누설하나니 입술을 벌린 자를 사귀지 말찌니라
20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscureㆍdarkness.
20 If anyone puts a curse on his father or his mother, his light will be put out in the blackest night.
20 자기의 아비나 어미를 저주하는 자는 그 등불이 유암 중에 꺼짐을 당하리라
21 An inheritancemay be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
21 A heritage may be got quickly at first, but the end of it will not be a blessing.
21 처음에 속히 잡은 산업은 마침내 복이 되지 아니하느니라
22Say not thou, I will recompenseevil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
22 Do not say, I will give punishment for evil: go on waiting for the Lord, and he will be your saviour.
22 너는 악을 갚겠다 말하지 말고 여호와를 기다리라 그가 너를 구원하시리라
23 Divers weightsare an abomination unto the LORD; and a falsebalanceis not good.
23 Unequal weights are disgusting to the Lord, and false scales are not good.
23 한결 같지 않은 저울 추는 여호와의 미워하시는 것이요 속이는 저울은 좋지 못한 것이니라
24Man'sgoingsare of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
24 A man's steps are of the Lord; how then may a man have knowledge of his way?
24 사람의 걸음은 여호와께로서 말미암나니 사람이 어찌 자기의 길을 알 수 있으랴
25It is a snare to the manwhodevoureththat which isholy, and aftervows to make inquiry.
25 It is a danger to a man to say without thought, It is holy, and, after taking his oaths, to be questioning if it is necessary to keep them.
25 함부로 이 물건을 거룩하다 하여 서원하고 그 후에 살피면 그것이 그물이 되느니라
26 A wisekingscattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.
26 A wise king puts evil-doers to flight, and makes their evil-doing come back on them.
26 지혜로운 왕은 악인을 키질 하며 타작하는 바퀴로 그 위에 굴리느니라
27 The spirit of manis the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
27 The Lord keeps watch over the spirit of man, searching all the deepest parts of the body.
27 사람의 영혼은 여호와의 등불이라 사람의 깊은 속을 살피느니라
28Mercy and truthpreserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.
28 Mercy and good faith keep the king safe, and the seat of his power is based on upright acts.
28 왕은 인자와 진리로 스스로 보호하고 그 위도 인자함으로 말미암아 견고하니라
29 The glory of young menis their strength: and the beauty of old menis the grey head.
29 The glory of young men is their strength, and the honour of old men is their grey hairs.
29 젊은 자의 영화는 그 힘이요 늙은 자의 아름다운 것은 백발이니라
30 The blueness of a woundcleanseth away evil: so dostripes the inward parts of the belly.
30 By the wounds of the rod evil is taken away, and blows make clean the deepest parts of the body.
