1 A falsebalanceisabomination to the LORD: but a justweightis his delight.
1 Scales of deceit are hated by the Lord, but a true weight is his delight.
1 속이는 저울은 여호와께서 미워하셔도 공평한 추는 그가 기뻐하시느니라
2Whenpridecometh, then comethshame: but with the lowlyiswisdom.
2 When pride comes, there comes shame, but wisdom is with the quiet in spirit.
2 교만이 오면 욕도 오거니와 겸손한 자에게는 지혜가 있느니라
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
3 The righteousness of the upright will be their guide, but the twisted ways of the false will be their destruction.
3 정직한 자의 성실은 자기를 인도하거니와 사특한 자의 패역은 자기를 망케 하느니라
4Richesprofit not in the day of wrath: but righteousnessdelivereth from death.
4 Wealth is of no profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness keeps a man safe from death.
4 재물은 진노하시는 날에 무익하나 의리는 죽음을 면케 하느니라
5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
5 The righteousness of the good man will make his way straight, but the sin of the evil-doer will be the cause of his fall.
5 완전한 자는 그 의로 인하여 그 길이 곧게 되려니와 악한 자는 그 악을 인하여 넘어지리라
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their ownnaughtiness.
6 The righteousness of the upright will be their salvation, but the false will themselves be taken in their evil designs.
6 정직한 자는 그 의로 인하여 구원을 얻으려니와 사특한 자는 자기의 악에 잡히리라
7 When a wickedmandieth, hisexpectation shall perish: and the hope of unjustmenperisheth.
7 At the death of an upright man his hope does not come to an end, but the hope of the evil-doer comes to destruction.
7 악인은 죽을 때에 그 소망이 끊어지나니 불의의 소망이 없어지느니라
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wickedcometh in his stead.
8 The upright man is taken out of trouble, and in his place comes the sinner.
8 의인은 환난에서 구원을 얻고 악인은 와서 그를 대신하느니라
9 An hypocrite with hismouthdestroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
9 With his mouth the evil man sends destruction on his neighbour; but through knowledge the upright are taken out of trouble.
9 사특한 자는 입으로 그 이웃을 망하게 하여도 의인은 그 지식으로 말미암아 구원을 얻느니라
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the cityrejoiceth: and when the wickedperish, there isshouting.
10 When things go well for the upright man, all the town is glad; at the death of sinners, there are cries of joy.
10 의인이 형통하면 성읍이 즐거워하고 악인이 패망하면 기뻐 외치느니라
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
11 By the blessing of the upright man the town is made great, but it is overturned by the mouth of the evil-doer.
11 성읍은 정직한 자의 축원을 인하여 진흥하고 악한 자의 입을 인하여 무너지느니라
12 He that is void of wisdomdespiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
12 He who has a poor opinion of his neighbour has no sense, but a wise man keeps quiet.
12 지혜 없는 자는 그 이웃을 멸시하나 명철한 자는 잠잠하느니라
13 A talebearerㆍrevealethsecrets: but he that is of a faithfulspiritconcealeth the matter.
13 He who goes about talking of others makes secrets public, but the true-hearted man keeps things covered.
13 두루 다니며 한담하는 자는 남의 비밀을 누설하나 마음이 신실한 자는 그런 것을 숨기느니라
14 Where no counselis, the peoplefall: but in the multitude of counsellorsthere issafety.
14 When there is no helping suggestion the people will have a fall, but with a number of wise guides they will be safe.
14 도략이 없으면 백성이 망하여도 모사가 많으면 평안을 누리느니라
15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smartㆍfor it: and he that hatethsuretiship is sure.
15 He who makes himself responsible for a strange man will undergo much loss; but the hater of such undertakings will be safe.
15 타인을 위하여 보증이 되는 자는 손해를 당하여도 보증이 되기를 싫어하는 자는 평안하니라
16 A graciouswomanretainethhonour: and strongmenretainriches.
16 A woman who is full of grace is honoured, but a woman hating righteousness is a seat of shame: those hating work will undergo loss, but the strong keep their wealth.
16 유덕한 여자는 존영을 얻고 근면한 남자는 재물을 얻느니라
17 The mercifulman doeth good to his own soul: but he that iscrueltroubleth his own flesh.
17 The man who has mercy will be rewarded, but the cruel man is the cause of trouble to himself.
17 인자한 자는 자기의 영혼을 이롭게 하고 잔인한 자는 자기의 몸을 해롭게 하느니라
18 The wickedworketh a deceitfulwork: but to him that sowethrighteousnessshall be a surereward.
18 The sinner gets the payment of deceit; but his reward is certain who puts in the seed of righteousness.
18 악인의 삯은 허무하되 의를 뿌린 자의 상은 확실하니라
19 As righteousnesstendeth to life: so he that pursuethevilpursueth it to his own death.
19 So righteousness gives life; but he who goes after evil gets death for himself.
19 의를 굳게 지키는 자는 생명에 이르고 악을 따르는 자는 사망에 이르느니라
20 They that are of a frowardheartareabomination to the LORD: but such as areupright in theirwayare his delight.
20 The uncontrolled are hated by the Lord, but those whose ways are without error are his delight
20 마음이 패려한 자는 여호와의 미움을 받아도 행위가 온전한 자는 그의 기뻐하심을 받느니라
21Thoughhandjoin in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
21 Certainly the evil-doer will not go free from punishment, but the seed of the upright man will be safe.
21 악인은 피차 손을 잡을찌라도 벌을 면치 못할 것이나 의인의 자손은 구원을 얻으리라
22As a jewel of gold in a swine'ssnout, so is a fairwoman which is withoutdiscretion.
22 Like a ring of gold in the nose of a pig, is a beautiful woman who has no sense.
22 아름다운 여인이 삼가지 아니하는 것은 마치 돼지코에 금고리 같으니라
23 The desire of the righteousis only good: but the expectation of the wickediswrath.
23 The desire of the upright man is only for good, but wrath is waiting for the evil-doer.
23 의인의 소원은 오직 선하나 악인의 소망은 진노를 이루느니라
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
24 A man may give freely, and still his wealth will be increased; and another may keep back more than is right, but only comes to be in need.
24 흩어 구제하여도 더욱 부하게 되는 일이 있나니 과도히 아껴도 가난하게 될 뿐이니라
25 The liberalsoul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
25 He who gives blessing will be made fat, but the curser will himself be cursed.
25 구제를 좋아하는 자는 풍족하여질 것이요 남을 윤택하게 하는 자는 윤택하여지리라
26 He that withholdethcorn, the people shall curse him: but blessingshall be upon the head of him that sellethit.
26 He who keeps back grain will be cursed by the people; but a blessing will be on the head of him who lets them have it for a price.
26 곡식을 내지 아니하는 자는 백성에게 저주를 받을 것이나 파는 자는 그 머리에 복이 임하리라
27 He that diligently seekethgoodprocurethfavour: but he that seekethmischief, it shall come unto him.
27 He who, with all his heart, goes after what is good is searching for grace; but he who is looking for trouble will get it.
27 선을 간절히 구하는 자는 은총을 얻으려니와 악을 더듬어 찾는 자에게는 악이 임하리라
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
28 He who puts his faith in wealth will come to nothing; but the upright man will be full of growth like the green leaf.
28 자기의 재물을 의지하는 자는 패망하려니와 의인은 푸른 잎사귀 같아서 번성하리라
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the foolshall beservant to the wise of heart.
29 The troubler of his house will have the wind for his heritage, and the foolish will be servant to the wise-hearted.
29 자기 집을 해롭게 하는 자의 소득은 바람이라 미련한 자는 마음이 지혜로운 자의 종이 되리라
30 The fruit of the righteousis a tree of life; and he that winnethsoulsiswise.
30 The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life, but violent behaviour takes away souls.
30 의인의 열매는 생명나무라 지혜로운 자는 사람을 얻느니라
31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
31 If the upright man is rewarded on earth, how much more the evil-doer and the sinner!
