2Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possessioncities to dwell in; and ye shall givealso unto the Levitessuburbs for the cities round about them.[x]MKJV: Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites, from the land of their possessions cities to live in. And you shall give to the Levites suburbs for the cities all around them. BBE: Give orders to the children of Israel to give to the Levites, from the heritage which is theirs, towns for themselves, with land on the outskirts of the towns. KAV: 이스라엘 자손에게 명령하여 그들이 자기들 소유의 상속 재산에서 레위 사람들에게 도시들을 주어 그 안에 거하게 하라. 또한 너희는 그 도시들 사방의 주변 지역을 레위 사람들에게 도시로 주어 TSK: Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.: le 25:32,33, jos 14:3,4, jos 21:2-42, eze 45:1-8, eze 48:8,22, 1co 9:10-14
2 Give orders to the children of Israel to give to the Levites, from the heritage which is theirs, towns for themselves, with land on the outskirts of the towns.
2 이스라엘 자손에게 명하여 그들의 얻은 기업에서 레위인에게 거할 성읍들을 주게 하고 너희는 또 그 성읍 사면의 들을 레위인에게 주어서
3 And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.[x]MKJV: And they shall have the cities to live in. And their open lands shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their animals. BBE: These towns are to be their living-places, with land round them for their cattle and their food and all their beasts, KAV: 그 도시들은 그들이 거하는 곳이 되게 하고 그것들의 주변 지역은 그들의 가축과 물건과 모든 짐승을 둘 곳이 되게 할지니라. 3 These towns are to be their living-places, with land round them for their cattle and their food and all their beasts,
3 성읍으로는 그들의 거처가 되게 하고 들로는 그들의 가축과 물산과 짐승들을 둘 곳이 되게 할 것이라
4 And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousandcubits round about.[x]MKJV: And the open lands of the cities which you shall give to the Levites [shall reach] from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits all around. BBE: Stretching from the wall of the towns a distance of a thousand cubits all round. KAV: 너희가 레위 사람들에게 줄 도시들의 주변 지역은 도시의 성벽에서부터 밖으로 사방 천 큐빗이 되리라.

4 너희가 레위인에게 줄 성읍들의 들은 성벽에서부터 밖으로 사면 이천 규빗이라
5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the eastside two thousandcubits, and on the southside two thousandcubits, and on the westside two thousandcubits, and on the northside two thousandcubits; and the cityshall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.[x]MKJV: And you shall measure from outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits. And the city [shall be] in the middle. This shall be to them the open land of the cities. BBE: The measure of this space of land is to be two thousand cubits outside the town on the east, and two thousand cubits on the south and on the west and on the north, the town being in the middle. This space will be the outskirts of their towns. KAV: 너희는 도시를 한가운데 두고 도시의 밖에서부터 동쪽 편으로 이천 큐빗, 남쪽 편으로 이천 큐빗, 서쪽 편으로 이천 큐빗, 북쪽 편으로 이천 큐빗을 측량할지니 이것이 그들을 위하여 도시들의 주변 지역이 될 것이니라.
5 The measure of this space of land is to be two thousand cubits outside the town on the east, and two thousand cubits on the south and on the west and on the north, the town being in the middle. This space will be the outskirts of their towns.
5 성을 중앙에 두고 성 밖 동편으로 이천 규빗, 남편으로 이천 규빗, 서편으로 이천 규빗, 북편으로 이천 규빗을 측량할찌니 이는 그들의 성읍의 들이며
6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levitesthere shall besixcities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall addforty and twocities.[x]MKJV: And among the cities which you shall give to the Levites there [shall be] six cities for refuge, which you shall appoint for the manslayer, so that he may flee there. And you shall add forty-two cities to them. BBE: And the towns which you give the Levites are to be the six safe places to which the taker of life may go in flight; and in addition you are to give them forty-two towns. KAV: 너희가 레위 사람들에게 줄 도시들 중에서 여섯 도시는 사람을 죽인 자를 위해 도피 도시로 지정하여 그가 거기로 도피하게 할 것이요, 또 너희는 그 도시들 외에 마흔두 개의 도시를 더할지니라. 7So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levitesshall beforty and eightcities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.[x]MKJV: All the cities which you shall give to the Levites, forty-eight cities. You shall give them with their open land. BBE: Forty-eight towns are to be given to the Levites, all with land round them. KAV: 이와 같이 너희가 레위 사람들에게 줄 도시가 마흔여덟 개니 너희는 도시들과 함께 그것들의 주변 지역도 줄지니라. 7 Forty-eight towns are to be given to the Levites, all with land round them.

8 And the cities which ye shall giveshall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that havemany ye shall give many; but from them that havefew ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levitesaccording to his inheritance which he inheriteth.[x]MKJV: And the cities which you shall give [shall be] of the possessions of the sons of Israel. You shall give many from those who have many. But from those who have few you shall give few. Everyone shall give of his cities to the Levites according to his inheritance which he inherits. 8 이스라엘 자손의 산업에서 레위인에게 너희가 성읍을 줄 때에 많이 얻은 자에게서는 많이 취하여 주고 적게 얻은 자에게서는 적게 취하여 줄 것이라 각기 얻은 산업을 따라서 그 성읍들을 레위인에게 줄찌니라

10Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come overJordan into the land of Canaan;[x]MKJV: Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, When you have come over Jordan into the land of Canaan, BBE: Say to the children of Israel, when you have gone over Jordan into the land of Canaan; KAV: 이스라엘 자손에게 말하고 그들에게 이르라. 너희가 요르단을 건너 가나안 땅에 들어가거든 TSK: Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;: nu 34:2, le 14:34, le 25:2, de 12:9, de 19:1,2
10 Say to the children of Israel, when you have gone over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.[x]MKJV: then you shall choose cities to be cities of refuge for you, so that the slayer who kills any person through error may flee there. BBE: Then let certain towns be marked out as safe places to which anyone who takes the life of another in error may go in flight. KAV: 너희를 위해 도시들을 도피 도시로 지정하여 알지 못하고 사람을 죽인 자가 거기로 도피하게 할지니라. 11 Then let certain towns be marked out as safe places to which anyone who takes the life of another in error may go in flight.
11 너희를 위하여 성읍을 도피성으로 정하여 그릇 살인한 자로 그리로 피하게 하라
12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayerdie not, until he standbefore the congregation in judgment.[x]MKJV: And they shall be to you cities for refuge from the avenger, so that the manslayer does not die until he stands before the congregation in judgment. BBE: In these towns you may be safe from him who has the right of punishment; so that death may not overtake the taker of life till he has been judged by the meeting of the people. KAV: 너희를 위해 그 도시들이 복수하는 자로부터 도피하게 하는 도피 도시가 될지니 이것은 사람을 죽인 자가 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받을 때까지 죽지 아니하게 하려 함이니라. 12 In these towns you may be safe from him who has the right of punishment; so that death may not overtake the taker of life till he has been judged by the meeting of the people.
12 이는 너희가 보수할 자에게서 도피하는 성을 삼아 살인자가 회중 앞에 서서 판결을 받기까지 죽지 않게 하기 위함이니라
13 And of these cities which ye shall givesixcities shall ye have for refuge.[x]MKJV: And of those cities which you shall give, you shall have six cities for refuge. BBE: Six of the towns which you give will be such safe places; KAV: 너희는 너희가 줄 이 도시들 중에서 여섯 도시를 도피 도시로 만들되
13 Six of the towns which you give will be such safe places;
13 너희가 줄 성읍 중에 여섯으로 도피성이 되게 하되
14 Ye shall givethreecities on this sideJordan, and threecities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.[x]MKJV: You shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and you shall give three cities in the land of Canaan to be cities of refuge. BBE: Three on the other side of Jordan and three in the land of Canaan, to be safe places for flight. KAV: 세 도시는 요르단 이편에서 주고 세 도시는 가나안 땅에서 주어 도피 도시가 되게 할지니라. 14 Three on the other side of Jordan and three in the land of Canaan, to be safe places for flight.

15 These sixcities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourneramong them: that every one that killeth any personunawares may flee thither.[x]MKJV: These six cities shall be a refuge for the sons of Israel, and for the stranger, and for anyone who stays among them, so that everyone who kills any person through error may flee there. BBE: For the children of Israel and for the man from another country who is living among them, these six towns are to be safe places, where anyone causing the death of another through error may go in flight. KAV: 이 여섯 도시는 이스라엘 자손과 타국인과 그들 가운데 머무는 자를 위한 도피처가 되리니 이것은 알지 못하고 사람을 죽인 자가 다 거기로 도피하게 하려 함이니라. 15 이 여섯 성읍은 이스라엘 자손과 타국인과 이스라엘 중에 우거하는 자의 도피성이 되리니 무릇 그릇 살인한 자가 그리로 도피할 수 있으리라
16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.[x]MKJV: And if he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he [is] a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. BBE: But if a man gives another man a blow with an iron instrument, causing his death, he is a taker of life and is certainly to be put to death. KAV: 만일 그가 쇠 연장으로 사람을 쳐서 죽이면 그는 살인자니 그 살인자를 반드시 죽일 것이요, TSK: if he smite: nu 35:22-24, de 19:11-13; the: nu 35:30-33, ge 9:5,6, ex 21:12-14, le 24:17
16 But if a man gives another man a blow with an iron instrument, causing his death, he is a taker of life and is certainly to be put to death.
16 만일 철 연장으로 사람을 쳐죽이면 이는 고살한 자니 그 고살자를 반드시 죽일 것이요
17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.[x]MKJV: And if he strikes him by throwing a stone, with which he may die, and if he dies, he [is] a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death. BBE: Or if he gives him a blow with a stone in his hand, causing his death, he is a taker of life and is certainly to be put to death. KAV: 만일 그가 사람을 죽이는 데 쓸 수 있는 돌을 던져 사람을 쳐서 죽이면 그는 살인자니 그 살인자를 반드시 죽일 것이며 TSK: throwing a stone: ex 21:18

The murderer shall surely be put to death. BBE: Or if he gave him blows with a wood instrument in his hands, causing his death, he is a taker of life and is certainly to be put to death. KAV: 만일 그가 사람을 죽이는 데 쓸 수 있는 나무 무기를 손에 들고 사람을 쳐서 죽이면 그는 살인자니 그 살인자를 반드시 죽일 것이니라.
18 Or if he gave him blows with a wood instrument in his hands, causing his death, he is a taker of life and is certainly to be put to death.
18 만일 사람을 죽일만한 나무 연장을 손에 들고 사람을 쳐죽이면 이는 고살한 자니 그 고살자를 반드시 죽일 것이니라
19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.[x]MKJV: The revenger of blood himself shall kill the murderer. When he meets him, he shall kill him. BBE: He whose right it is to give punishment for blood, may himself put to death the taker of life when he comes face to face with him. KAV: 피를 복수하는 자가 그 살인자를 직접 죽일지니 그가 그를 만나거든 죽일지니라. 19 He whose right it is to give punishment for blood, may himself put to death the taker of life when he comes face to face with him.
20 If in his hate he put a sword through him, or waiting secretly for him sent a spear or stone at him, causing his death;
20 만일 미워하는 까닭에 밀쳐 죽이거나 기회를 엿보아 무엇을 던져 죽이거나
21 Or in enmitysmite him with his hand, that he die: he that smotehim shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.[x]MKJV: or in hatred strikes him with his hand so that he dies, he who struck [him] shall surely he put to death. He [is] a murderer. The revenger of blood will kill the murderer when he meets him. BBE: Or in hate gave him blows with his hand, causing death; he who gave the death-blow is to be put to death; he is a taker of life: he whose right it is to give punishment for blood may put to death the taker of life when he comes face to face with him. KAV: 적개심으로 인하여 손으로 쳐서 죽이면 그를 친 자를 반드시 죽일지니 그는 살인자니라. 피를 복수하는 자가 그 살인자를 만나거든 그를 죽일 것이니라.
21 Or in hate gave him blows with his hand, causing death; he who gave the death-blow is to be put to death; he is a taker of life: he whose right it is to give punishment for blood may put to death the taker of life when he comes face to face with him.
21 원한으로 인하여 손으로 쳐죽이면 그 친 자를 반드시 죽일 것이니 이는 고살하였음이라 피를 보수하는 자가 그 고살자를 만나거든 죽일 것이니라
22 But if he thrust him suddenlywithoutenmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,[x]MKJV: But if he thrusts him suddenly without hatred, or has thrown something on him without lying in wait, BBE: But if a man has given a wound to another suddenly and not in hate, or without design has sent something against him, KAV: 그러나 그가 적개심을 품지 않고 갑자기 사람을 밀치거나 숨어 있지 않다가 그에게 무엇을 던지거나 TSK: But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,: nu 35:11, ex 21:13, de 19:5, jos 20:3,5
22 But if a man has given a wound to another suddenly and not in hate, or without design has sent something against him,
22 원한 없이 우연히 사람을 밀치거나 기회를 엿봄이 없이 무엇을 던지거나
23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeinghimnot, and castit upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:[x]MKJV: or with any stone with which a man may die if he does not see, and throws [it] upon him so that he dies, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm, BBE: Or has given him a blow with a stone, without seeing him, so causing his death, though he had nothing against him and no desire to do him evil: KAV: 그를 보지 못하고 사람을 죽이는 데 쓸 수 있는 돌을 던져서 그를 죽였으나 그가 그의 원수도 아니요, 그를 해치려 하지도 아니하였으면
23 Or has given him a blow with a stone, without seeing him, so causing his death, though he had nothing against him and no desire to do him evil:
23 보지 못하고 사람을 죽일만한 돌을 던져서 죽였다 하자 이는 원한도 없고 해하려한 것도 아닌즉
24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:[x]MKJV: then the congregation shall judge between the one who kills and the revenger of blood according to these judgments. BBE: Then let the meeting of the people be judge between the man responsible for the death and him who has the right of punishment for blood, acting by these rules: KAV: 회중이 사람을 죽인 자와 피를 복수하는 자 사이에서 이 법도에 따라 재판하여 TSK: Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:: nu 35:12, jos 20:6
24 Then let the meeting of the people be judge between the man responsible for the death and him who has the right of punishment for blood, acting by these rules:
24 회중이 친 자와 피를 보수하는 자 간에 이 규례대로 판결하여
25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the highpriest, which was anointed with the holyoil.[x]MKJV: And the congregation shall deliver the one who kills out of the hand of the revenger of blood. And the congregation shall send him back to the city of his refuge, to which he had fled. And he shall stay in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. BBE: And let the people keep the man responsible for the death safe from the hands of him who has the right of punishment for blood, and send him back to his safe town where he had gone in flight: there let him be till the death of the high priest who was marked with the holy oil. 25 And let the people keep the man responsible for the death safe from the hands of him who has the right of punishment for blood, and send him back to his safe town where he had gone in flight: there let him be till the death of the high priest who was marked with the holy oil.
25 피를 보수하는 자의 손에서 살인자를 건져내어 그가 피하였던 도피성으로 돌려 보낼 것이요 그는 거룩한 기름 부음을 받은 대제사장의 죽기까지 거기 거할 것이니라
26 But if the slayer shall at any timecome without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;[x]MKJV: But if the one who killed shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge to which he had fled, BBE: But if ever he goes outside the walls of the safe town where he had gone in flight, KAV: 그러나 사람을 죽인 자가 어느 때든지 자기가 도피한 도피 도시의 경계 밖으로 나가면
26 But if ever he goes outside the walls of the safe town where he had gone in flight,
26 그러나 살인자가 어느 때든지 그 피하였던 도피성 지경 밖에 나갔다 하자
27 And the revenger of bloodfind him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of bloodkill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:[x]MKJV: and if the avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and if the avenger of blood kills the slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood, BBE: And the giver of punishment, meeting him outside the walls of the town, puts him to death, he will not be responsible for his blood: KAV: 피를 복수하는 자가 그의 도피 도시의 경계 밖에서 사람을 죽인 자를 만나 그를 죽일지라도 그 피에 관하여 죄가 없으리니 TSK: he shall not be guilty of blood: ex 22:2, de 19:6,10
27 And the giver of punishment, meeting him outside the walls of the town, puts him to death, he will not be responsible for his blood:
27 피를 보수하는 자가 도피성 지경 밖에서 그 살인자를 만나 죽일찌라도 위하여 피 흘린 죄가 없나니
28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the highpriest: but after the death of the highpriest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.[x]MKJV: because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the one who killed shall return to the land of his possession. BBE: Because he had been ordered to keep inside the safe town till the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the taker of life may come back to the place of his heritage. KAV: 이는 대제사장이 죽을 때까지 사람을 죽인 자가 자기의 도피 도시에 거하여야만 하였기 때문이라. 다만 대제사장이 죽은 뒤에는 사람을 죽인 자가 자기 소유의 땅으로 돌아가리라. 28 Because he had been ordered to keep inside the safe town till the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the taker of life may come back to the place of his heritage.
