1 Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.1 In the first month all the children of Israel came into the waste land of Zin, and put up their tents in Kadesh; there death came to Miriam, and they put her body to rest in the earth.1 정월에 이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 신 광야에 이르러서 백성이 가데스에 거하더니 미리암이 거기서 죽으매 거기 장사하니라
2 And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.2 And there was no water for the people: and they came together against Moses and against Aaron.2 회중이 물이 없으므로 모여서 모세와 아론을 공박하니라
3 And the people chided with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!3 And the people were angry with Moses and said, If only death had overtaken us when our brothers came to their death before the Lord!3 백성이 모세와 다투어 말하여 가로되 우리 형제들이 여호와 앞에서 죽을 때에 우리도 죽었더면 좋을뻔 하였도다
4 And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?4 Why have you taken the Lord's people into this waste, for death to come to us and to our cattle there?4 너희가 어찌하여 여호와의 총회를 이 광야로 인도하여 올려서 우리와 우리 짐승으로 다 여기서 죽게 하느냐
5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.5 Why have you made us come out of Egypt into this evil place? This is no place of seed or figs or vines or other fruits, and there is no water for drinking.5 너희가 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 나오게 하여 이 악한 곳으로 인도하였느냐 이곳에는 파종할 곳이 없고 무화과도 없고 포도도 없고 석류도 없고 마실 물도 없도다
6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.6 Then Moses and Aaron went away from the people to the door of the Tent of meeting; and, falling on their faces there, they saw the glory of the Lord.6 모세와 아론이 총회 앞을 떠나 회막 문에 이르러 엎드리매 여호와의 영광이 그들에게 나타나며
7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,7 And the Lord said to Moses,7 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대
8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.8 Take the rod, you and Aaron, your brother, and make all the people come together, and before their eyes give orders to the rock to give out its water; and so make water come out of the rock for them, and give the people and their cattle drink.8 지팡이를 가지고 네 형 아론과 함께 회중을 모으고 그들의 목전에서 너희는 반석에게 명하여 물을 내라 하라 네가 그 반석으로 물을 내게 하여 회중과 그들의 짐승에게 마시울찌니라
9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.9 And Moses took the rod from before the Lord as he gave him orders.9 모세가 그 명대로 여호와의 앞에서 지팡이를 취하니라
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?10 Then Moses and Aaron made the people come together in front of the rock, and he said to them, Give ear now, you people whose hearts are turned from the Lord; are we to get water for you out of the rock?10 모세와 아론이 총회를 그 반석 앞에 모으고 모세가 그들에게 이르되 패역한 너희여 들으라 우리가 너희를 위하여 이 반석에서 물을 내랴 하고
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.11 And lifting up his hand, Moses gave the rock two blows with his rod: and water came streaming out, and the people and their cattle had drink enough.11 그 손을 들어 그 지팡이로 반석을 두번 치매 물이 많이 솟아나오므로 회중과 그들의 짐승이 마시니라
12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.12 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you had not enough faith in me to keep my name holy before the children of Israel, you will not take this people into the land which I have given them.12 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 이르시되 너희가 나를 믿지 아니하고 이스라엘 자손의 목전에 나의 거룩함을 나타내지 아니한고로 너희는 이 총회를 내가 그들에게 준 땅으로 인도하여 들이지 못하리라 하시니라
13 This is the water of Meribah,; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.13 These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel went against the Lord, and they saw that he was holy among them.13 이스라엘 자손이 여호와와 다투었으므로 이를 므리바 물이라 하니라 여호와께서 그들 중에서 그 거룩함을 나타내셨더라
14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:14 Then Moses sent men from Kadesh to the king of Edom to say to him, Your brother Israel says, You have knowledge of all the things we have been through;14 모세가 가데스에서 에돔 왕에게 사자를 보내며 이르되 당신의 형제 이스라엘의 말에 우리의 당한 모든 고난을 당신도 아시거니와
15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we were living in Egypt for a long time; and the Egyptians were cruel to us and to our fathers:15 우리 열조가 애굽으로 내려갔으므로 우리가 애굽에 오래 거하였더니 애굽인이 우리 열조와 우리를 학대하였으므로
16 And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:16 And the Lord gave ear to the voice of our cry, and sent an angel and took us out of Egypt: and now we are in Kadesh, a town on the edge of your land;16 우리가 여호와께 부르짖었더니 우리 소리를 들으시고 천사를 보내사 우리를 애굽에서 인도하여 내셨나이다 이제 우리가 당신의 변방 모퉁이 한 성읍 가데스에 있사오니
17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.17 Let us now go through your land: we will not go into field or vine-garden, or take the water of the springs; we will go by the highway, not turning to the right or to the left, till we have gone past the limits of your land.17 청컨대 우리로 당신의 땅을 통과하게 하소서 우리가 밭으로나 포도원으로나 통과하지 아니하고 우물 물도 공히 마시지 아니하고 우리가 왕의 대로로만 통과하고 당신의 지경에서 나가기까지 좌편으로나 우편으로나 치우치지 아니하리이다 한다 하라 하였더니
18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.18 And Edom said, You are not to go through my land, for if you do I will come out against you with the sword.18 에돔 왕이 대답하되 너는 우리 가운데로 통과하지 못하리라 내가 나가서 칼로 너를 맞을까 염려하라
19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay ㆍ for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.19 And the children of Israel said to him, We will go up by the highway: and if we or our cattle take of your water, we will give you a price for it: only let us go through on our feet, nothing more.19 이스라엘 자손이 이르되 우리가 대로로 통과하겠고 우리나 우리 짐승이 당신의 물을 마시면 그 값을 줄 것이라 우리가 도보로 통과할뿐인즉 아무 일도 없으리이다 하나
20 And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.20 But he said, You are not to go through. And Edom came out against them in his strength, with a great army.20 그는 가로되 너는 지나가지 못하리라 하고 에돔 왕이 많은 백성을 거느리고 나와서 강한 손으로 막으니
21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.21 So Edom would not let Israel go through his land; and Israel went in another direction.21 에돔 왕이 이같이 이스라엘의 그 경내로 통과함을 용납지 아니하므로 이스라엘이 그들에게서 돌이키니라
22 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.22 And they went on from Kadesh, and came, with all their people, to Mount Hor.22 이스라엘 자손 곧 온 회중이 가데스에서 진행하여 호르산에 이르렀더니
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,23 And at Mount Hor, at the edge of the land of Edom, the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,23 여호와께서 에돔 땅 변경 호르산에서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하시니라 가라사대
24 Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.24 Aaron will be put to rest with his people; he will not go into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you went against my word at the waters of Meribah.24 아론은 그 열조에게로 돌아가고 내가 이스라엘 자손에게 준 땅에는 들어가지 못하리니 이는 너희가 므리바 물에서 내 말을 거역한 연고니라
25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor:25 So take Aaron and Eleazar, his son, up into Mount Hor;25 너는 아론과 그 아들 엘르아살을 데리고 호르산에 올라
26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.26 And take Aaron's robes off him and put them on Eleazar, his son: and death will come to Aaron there, and he will be put to rest with his people.26 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그 아들 엘르아살에게 입히라 아론은 거기서 죽어 그 열조에게로 돌아가리라
27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.27 So Moses did as the Lord had said, and before the eyes of all the people they went up Mount Hor.27 모세가 여호와의 명을 좇아 그들과 함께 회중의 목전에서 호르산에 오르니라
28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.28 And Moses took off Aaron's robes, and put them on Eleazar, his son; and there on the top of the mountain death came to Aaron: then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.28 모세가 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그 아들 엘르아살에게 입히매 아론이 그 산꼭대기에서 죽으니라 모세와 엘르아살이 산에서 내려오니
29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.29 And when the people saw that Aaron was dead, all the children of Israel gave themselves up to weeping for him for thirty days.29 온 회중 곧 이스라엘 온 족속이 아론의 죽은 것을 보고 위하여 삼십일을 애곡하였더라
