5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?	5 For which is the simpler, to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say, Get up and go?	5 네 죄 사함을 받았느니라 하는 말과 일어나 걸어가라 하는 말이 어느 것이 쉽겠느냐

6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, ㆍ (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.	6 But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness of sins, (then said he to the man who was ill,) Get up, and take up your bed, and go to your house.	6 그러나 인자가 세상에서 죄를 사하는 권세가 있는 줄을 너희로 알게 하려 하노라 하시고 중풍병자에게 말씀하시되 일어나 네 침상을 가지고 집으로 가라 하시니

9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.	9 And when Jesus was going from there, he saw a man whose name was Matthew, seated at the place where taxes were taken; and he said to him, Come after me. And he got up and went after him.	9 예수께서 거기서 떠나 지나가시다가 마태라 하는 사람이 세관에 앉은 것을 보시고 이르시되 나를 좇으라 하시니 일어나 좇으니라

10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house ㆍ, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.	10 And it came about, when he was in the house taking food, that a number of tax-farmers and sinners came and took their places with Jesus and his disciples.	10 예수께서 마태의 집에서 앉아 음식을 잡수실 때에 많은 세리와 죄인들이 와서 예수와 그 제자들과 함께 앉았더니

11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?	11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Master take food with tax-farmers and sinners?	11 바리새인들이 보고 그 제자들에게 이르되 어찌하여 너희 선생은 세리와 죄인들과 함께 잡수시느냐

12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.	12 But on hearing this he said, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.	12 예수께서 들으시고 이르시되 건강한 자에게는 의원이 쓸데 없고 병든 자에게라야 쓸데 있느니라

13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.	13 But go and take to heart the sense of these words, My desire is for mercy, not offerings: for I have come not to get the upright, but sinners.	13 너희는 가서 내가 긍휼을 원하고 제사를 원치 아니하노라 하신 뜻이 무엇인지 배우라 내가 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니요 죄인을 부르러 왔노라 하시니라

14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?	14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees frequently go without food, but your disciples do not?	14 그 때에 요한의 제자들이 예수께 나아와 가로되 우리와 바리새인들은 금식하는데 어찌하여 당신의 제자들은 금식하지 아니하나이까

15 And Jesus said unto them, Can ㆍ the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.	15 And Jesus said to them, Will the friends of the newly-married man be sad as long as he is with them? But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then will they go without food.	15 예수께서 저희에게 이르시되 혼인집 손님들이 신랑과 함께 있을 동안에 슬퍼할 수 있느뇨 그러나 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 이르리니 그 때에는 금식할 것이니라

16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh ㆍ from the garment, and the rent is made worse.	16 And no man puts a bit of new cloth on an old coat, for by pulling away from the old, it makes a worse hole.	16 생베 조각을 낡은 옷에 붙이는 자가 없나니 이는 기운 것이 그 옷을 당기어 해어짐이 더하게 됨이요

17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.	17 And men do not put new wine into old wine-skins; or the skins will be burst and the wine will come out, and the skins are of no more use: but they put new wine into new wine-skins, and so the two will be safe.	17 새 포도주를 낡은 가죽 부대에 넣지 아니하나니 그렇게 하면 부대가 터져 포도주도 쏟아지고 부대도 버리게 됨이라 새 포도주는 새 부대에 넣어야 둘이 다 보전되느니라

18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying ㆍ, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.	18 While he was saying these things to them, there came a ruler and gave him worship, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and put your hand on her, and she will come back to life.	18 예수께서 이 말씀을 하실 때에 한 직원이 와서 절하고 가로되 내 딸이 방장 죽었사오나 오셔서 그 몸에 손을 얹으소서 그러면 살겠나이다 하니

19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.	19 And Jesus got up and went after him, and so did his disciples.	19 예수께서 일어나 따라 가시매 제자들도 가더니

20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:	20 And a woman, who for twelve years had had a flow of blood, came after him, and put her hand on the edge of his robe:	20 열 두 해를 혈루증으로 앓는 여자가 예수의 뒤로 와서 그 겉옷 가를 만지니

21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.	21 Because, she said to herself, if I may but put my hand on his robe, I will be made well.	21 이는 제 마음에 그 겉옷만 만져도 구원을 받겠다 함이라

22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.	22 But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, Daughter, take heart; your faith has made you well. And the woman was made well from that hour.	22 예수께서 돌이켜 그를 보시며 가라사대 딸아 안심하라 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였다 하시니 여자가 그 시로 구원을 받으니라

23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,	23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house and saw the players with their instruments and the people making a noise,	23 예수께서 그 직원의 집에 가사 피리 부는 자들과 훤화하는 무리를 보시고

24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.	24 He said, Make room; for the girl is not dead, but sleeping. And they were laughing at him.	24 가라사대 물러가라 이 소녀가 죽은 것이 아니라 잔다 하시니 저들이 비웃더라

25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.	25 But when the people were sent out, he went in and took her by the hand; and the girl got up.	25 무리를 내어 보낸 후에 예수께서 들어가사 소녀의 손을 잡으시매 일어나는지라

26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.	26 And the news of it went out into all that land.	26 그 소문이 그 온 땅에 퍼지더라

27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.	27 And when Jesus went on from there, two blind men came after him, crying out, Have mercy on us, you Son of David.	27 예수께서 거기서 떠나 가실쌔 두 소경이 따라 오며 소리질러 가로되 다윗의 자손이여 우리를 불쌍히 여기소서 하더니

28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.	28 And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, Have you faith that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord.	28 예수께서 집에 들어가시매 소경들이 나아오거늘 예수께서 이르시되 내가 능히 이 일 할 줄을 믿느냐 대답하되 주여 그러하오이다 하니

29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.	29 Then he put his hand on their eyes, saying, As your faith is, let it be done to you.	29 이에 예수께서 저희 눈을 만지시며 가라사대 너희 믿음대로 되라 하신대

30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.	30 And their eyes were made open. And Jesus said to them sharply, Let no man have knowledge of it.	30 그 눈들이 밝아진지라 예수께서 엄히 경계하시되 삼가 아무에게도 알게 하지 말라 하셨으나

31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.	31 But they went out and gave news of him in all that land.	31 저희가 나가서 예수의 소문을 그 온 땅에 전파하니라

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.	32 And while they were going away, there came to him a man without the power of talking, and with an evil spirit.	32 저희가 나갈 때에 귀신 들려 벙어리 된 자를 예수께 데려오니

33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying ㆍ, It was never so seen in Israel.	33 And when the evil spirit had been sent out, the man had the power of talking: and they were all surprised, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.	33 귀신이 쫓겨나고 벙어리가 말하거늘 무리가 기이히 여겨 가로되 이스라엘 가운데서 이런 일을 본 때가 없다 하되

34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.	34 But the Pharisees said, By the ruler of evil spirits, he sends evil spirits out of men.	34 바리새인들은 가로되 저가 귀신의 왕을 빙자하여 귀신을 쫓아낸다 하더라

35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.	35 And Jesus went about all the towns and small places, teaching in their Synagogues and preaching the good news of the kingdom and making well all sorts of disease and pain.	35 예수께서 모든 성과 촌에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니라

36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted ㆍ, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.	36 But when he saw all the people he was moved with pity for them, because they were troubled and wandering like sheep without a keeper.	36 무리를 보시고 민망히 여기시니 이는 저희가 목자 없는 양과 같이 고생하며 유리함이라

37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;	37 Then he said to his disciples, There is much grain but not enough men to get it in.	37 이에 제자들에게 이르시되 추수할 것은 많되 일군은 적으니

38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.	38 Make prayer, then, to the Lord of the grain-fields, that he may send out workers to get in his grain.	38 그러므로 추수하는 주인에게 청하여 추수할 일군들을 보내어 주소서 하라 하시니라

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
