And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,1 And when Jesus had come to the end of all these words, he said to his disciples,1 예수께서 이 말씀을 다 마치시고 제자들에게 이르시되
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.2 After two days is the Passover, and the Son of man will be given up to the death of the cross.2 너희의 아는 바와 같이 이틀을 지나면 유월절이라 인자가 십자가에 못 박히기 위하여 팔리우리라 하시더라
Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,3 Then the chief priests and the rulers of the people came together in the house of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.3 그 때에 대제사장들과 백성의 장로들이 가야바라 하는 대제사장의 아문에 모여
And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.4 And they made designs together to take Jesus by some trick, and put him to death.4 예수를 궤계로 잡아 죽이려고 의논하되
But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.5 But they said, Not while the feast is going on, for fear of trouble among the people.5 말하기를 민요가 날까 하노니 명절에는 말자 하더라
Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,6 예수께서 베다니 문둥이 시몬의 집에 계실 때에
There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.7 There came to him a woman having a bottle of perfume of great price, and she put the perfume on his head when he was seated at table.7 한 여자가 매우 귀한 향유 한 옥합을 가지고 나아와서 식사하시는 예수의 머리에 부으니
But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?8 But when the disciples saw it they were angry, saying, To what purpose is this waste?8 제자들이 보고 분하여 가로되 무슨 의사로 이것을 허비하느뇨
For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.9 For we might have got much money for this and given it to the poor.9 이것을 많은 값에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 줄 수 있었겠도다 하거늘
When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.10 But Jesus, seeing it, said to them, Why are you troubling the woman? she has done a kind act to me.10 예수께서 아시고 저희에게 이르시되 너희가 어찌하여 이 여자를 괴롭게 하느냐 저가 내게 좋은 일을 하였느니라
For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.11 For the poor you have ever with you, but me you have not for ever.11 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있거니와 나는 항상 함께 있지 아니하리라
For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.12 For in putting this perfume on my body, she did it to make me ready for my last resting-place.12 이 여자가 내 몸에 이 향유를 부은 것은 내 장사를 위하여 함이니라
Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.13 Truly I say to you, Wherever this good news goes out in all the world, what this woman has done will be talked of in memory of her.13 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에는 이 여자의 행한 일도 말하여 저를 기념하리라 하시니라
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,14 Then one of the twelve, who was named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said,14 그 때에 열 둘 중에 하나인 가룟 유다라 하는 자가 대제사장들에게 가서 말하되
And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.15 What will you give me, if I give him up to you? And the price was fixed at thirty bits of silver.15 내가 예수를 너희에게 넘겨주리니 얼마나 주려느냐 하니 그들이 은 삼십을 달아 주거늘
And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.16 And from that time he was watching for a chance to give him into their hands.16 저가 그 때부터 예수를 넘겨줄 기회를 찾더라
Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?17 Now on the first day of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Where are we to make ready for you to take the Passover meal?17 무교절의 첫날에 제자들이 예수께 나아와서 가로되 유월절 잡수실 것을 우리가 어디서 예비하기를 원하시나이까
And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.18 And he said to them, Go into the town to such a man, and say to him, The Master says, My time is near: I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.18 가라사대 성안 아무에게 가서 이르되 선생님 말씀이 내 때가 가까왔으니 내 제자들과 함께 유월절을 네 집에서 지키겠다 하시더라 하라 하신대
And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.19 And the disciples did as Jesus had said to them; and they made ready the Passover.19 제자들이 예수의 시키신대로 하여 유월절을 예비하였더라
Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.20 Now when evening was come, he was seated at table with the twelve disciples;20 저물 때에 예수께서 열 두 제자와 함께 앉으셨더니
And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.21 And while they were taking food, he said, Truly I say to you that one of you will be false to me.21 저희가 먹을 때에 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중에 한 사람이 나를 팔리라 하시니
And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?22 And they were very said, and said to him, one by one, Is it I, Lord?22 저희가 심히 근심하여 각각 여짜오되 주여 내니이까
And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.23 And he made answer and said, He who puts his hand into the plate with me, the same will be false to me.23 대답하여 가라사대 나와 함께 그릇에 손을 넣는 그가 나를 팔리라
The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.24 The Son of man goes, even as the Writings say of him: but a curse is on that man through whom the Son of man is given up; it would have been well for that man if he had never come into the world.24 인자는 자기에게 대하여 기록된대로 가거니와 인자를 파는 그 사람에게는 화가 있으리로다 그 사람은 차라리 나지 아니 하였더면 제게 좋을뻔 하였느니라
Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.25 And Judas, who was false to him, made answer and said, Is it I, Master? He says to him, Yes.25 예수를 파는 유다가 대답하여 가로되 랍비여 내니이까 대답하시되 네가 말하였도다 하시니라
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.26 And when they were taking food, Jesus took bread and, after blessing it, he gave the broken bread to the disciples and said, Take it; this is my body.26 저희가 먹을 때에 예수께서 떡을 가지사 축복하시고 떼어 제자들을 주시며 가라사대 받아 먹으라 이것이 내 몸이니라 하시고
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;27 And he took a cup and, having given praise, he gave it to them, saying,27 또 잔을 가지사 사례하시고 저희에게 주시며 가라사대 너희가 다 이것을 마시라
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.28 Take of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the testament, which is given for men for the forgiveness of sins.28 이것은 죄 사함을 얻게 하려고 많은 사람을 위하여 흘리는바 나의 피 곧 언약의 피니라
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.29 But I say to you that from now I will not take of this fruit of the vine, till that day when I take it new with you in my Father's kingdom.29 그러나 너희에게 이르노니 내가 포도나무에서 난 것을 이제부터 내 아버지의 나라에서 새것으로 너희와 함께 마시는 날까지 마시지 아니하리라 하시니라
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.30 And after a song of praise to God, they went out to the Mountain of Olives.30 이에 저희가 찬미하고 감람산으로 나아가니라
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.31 Then said Jesus to them, All of you will be turned away from me this night: for it is said in the Writings, I will put to death the keeper of the sheep, and the sheep of the flock will be put to flight.31 때에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 오늘 밤에 너희가 다 나를 버리리라 기록된바 내가 목자를 치리니 양의 떼가 흩어지리라 하였느니라
But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.32 But after I am come back from the dead, I will go before you into Galilee.32 그러나 내가 살아난 후에 너희보다 먼저 갈릴리로 가리라
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.33 But Peter made answer and said to him, Though all may be turned away from you, I will never be turned away.33 베드로가 대답하여 가로되 다 주를 버릴찌라도 나는 언제든지 버리지 않겠나이다
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.34 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you that this night, before the hour of the cock's cry, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me.34 예수께서 가라사대 내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘밤 닭 울기 전에 네가 세번 나를 부인하리라
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.35 Peter says to him, Even if I am put to death with you, I will not be false to you. So said all the disciples.35 베드로가 가로되 내가 주와 함께 죽을찌언정 주를 부인하지 않겠나이다 하고 모든 제자도 이와 같이 말하니라
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.36 Then comes Jesus with them to a place named Gethsemane, and says to his disciples, Be seated here, while I go over there for prayer.36 이에 예수께서 제자들과 함께 겟세마네라 하는 곳에 이르러 제자들에게 이르시되 내가 저기 가서 기도할 동안에 너희는 여기 앉아 있으라 하시고
And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became sad and very troubled.37 베드로와 세베대의 두 아들을 데리고 가실쌔 고민하고 슬퍼하사
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.38 Then says he to them, My soul is very sad, even to death: keep watch with me here.38 이에 말씀하시되 내 마음이 심히 고민하여 죽게 되었으니 너희는 여기 머물러 나와 함께 깨어 있으라 하시고
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.39 And he went forward a little, and falling down on his face in prayer, he said, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup go from me; but let not my pleasure, but yours be done.39 조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 가라사대 내 아버지여 만일 할만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마옵시고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?40 And he comes to the disciples, and sees that they are sleeping, and says to Peter, What, were you not able to keep watch with me one hour?40 제자들에게 오사 그 자는 것을 보시고 베드로에게 말씀하시되 너희가 나와 함께 한 시 동안도 이렇게 깨어 있을 수 없더냐
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.41 Keep watch with prayer, so that you may not be put to the test: the spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is feeble.41 시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다 하시고
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.42 Again, a second time he went away, and said in prayer, O my Father, if this may not go from me without my taking it, let your pleasure be done.42 다시 두번째 나아가 기도하여 가라사대 내 아버지여 만일 내가 마시지 않고는 이 잔이 내게서 지나갈 수 없거든 아버지의 원대로 되기를 원하나이다 하시고
And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.43 And he came again and saw them sleeping, for their eyes were tired.43 다시 오사 보신즉 저희가 자니 이는 저희 눈이 피곤함일러라
And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.44 And he went away from them again, and a third time said the same prayer.44 또 저희를 두시고 나아가 세번째 동일한 말씀으로 기도하신 후
Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.45 Then he comes to the disciples; and says to them, Go on sleeping now, and take your rest: for the hour is come, and the Son of man is given into the hands of evil men.45 이에 제자들에게 오사 이르시되 이제는 자고 쉬라 보라 때가 가까왔으니 인자가 죄인의 손에 팔리우느니라
Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.46 Up, let us be going: see, he who gives me up is near.46 일어나라 함께 가자 보라 나를 파는 자가 가까이 왔느니라
And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.47 And while he was still talking, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a band armed with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and those in authority over the people.47 말씀하실 때에 열 둘 중에 하나인 유다가 왔는데 대제사장들과 백성의 장로들에게서 파송된 큰 무리가 검과 몽치를 가지고 그와 함께 하였더라
Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.48 Now the false one had given them a sign saying, The one to whom I give a kiss, that is he: take him.48 예수를 파는 자가 그들에게 군호를 짜 가로되 내가 입맞추는 자가 그이니 그를 잡으라 하였는지라
And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.49 And straight away he came to Jesus and said, Master! and gave him a kiss.49 곧 예수께 나아와 랍비여 안녕하시옵니까 하고 입을 맞추니
And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.50 And Jesus said to him, Friend, do that for which you have come. Then they came and put hands on Jesus, and took him.50 예수께서 가라사대 친구여 네가 무엇을 하려고 왔는지 행하라 하신대 이에 저희가 나아와 예수께 손을 대어 잡는지라
And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.51 And one of those who were with Jesus put out his hand, and took out his sword and gave the servant of the high priest a blow, cutting off his ear.51 예수와 함께 있던 자 중에 하나가 손을 펴 검을 빼어 대제사장의 종을 쳐 그 귀를 떨어뜨리니
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.52 Then says Jesus to him, Put up your sword again into its place: for all those who take the sword will come to death by the sword.52 이에 예수께서 이르시되 네 검을 도로 집에 꽂으라 검을 가지는 자는 다 검으로 망하느니라
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?53 Does it not seem possible to you that if I make request to my Father he will even now send me an army of angels?53 너는 내가 내 아버지께 구하여 지금 열 두 영 더되는 천사를 보내시게 할 수 없는 줄로 아느냐
But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?54 But how then would the Writings come true, which say that so it has to be?54 내가 만일 그렇게 하면 이런 일이 있으리라 한 성경이 어떻게 이루어지리요 하시더라
In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.55 In that hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out as against a thief with swords and sticks to take me? I was teaching every day in the Temple and you took me not.55 그 때에 예수께서 무리에게 말씀하시되 너희가 강도를 잡는 것 같이 검과 몽치를 가지고 나를 잡으러 나왔느냐 내가 날마다 성전에 앉아 가르쳤으되 너희가 나를 잡지 아니하였도다
But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.56 But all this has taken place so that the writings of the prophets might come true. Then all his disciples went from him in flight.56 그러나 이렇게 된 것은 다 선지자들의 글을 이루려 함이니라 하시더라 이에 제자들이 다 예수를 버리고 도망하니라
And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.57 And those who had made Jesus prisoner took him away to the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and those in authority over the people had come together.57 예수를 잡은 자들이 끌고 대제사장 가야바에게로 가니 거기 서기관과 장로들이 모여 있더라
But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.58 But Peter went after him at a distance, to the house of the high priest, and went in and took his seat with the servants, to see the end.58 베드로가 멀찍이 예수를 좇아 대제사장의 집 뜰에까지 가서 그 결국을 보려고 안에 들어가 하속들과 함께 앉았더라
Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;59 Now the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin were looking for false witness against Jesus, so that they might put him to death;59 대제사장들과 온 공회가 예수를 죽이려고 그를 칠 거짓증거를 찾으매
But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none . At the last came two false witnesses,60 And they were not able to get it, though a number of false witnesses came.60 거짓 증인이 많이 왔으나 얻지 못하더니 후에 두 사람이 와서
And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.61 But later there came two who said, This man said, I am able to give the Temple of God to destruction, and to put it up again in three days.61 가로되 이 사람의 말이 내가 하나님의 성전을 헐고 사흘에 지을 수 있다 하더라 하니
And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?62 And the high priest got up and said to him, Have you no answer? what is it which these say against you?62 대제사장이 일어서서 예수께 묻되 아무 대답도 없느냐 이 사람들의 너를 치는 증거가 어떠하뇨 하되
But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.63 But Jesus said not a word. And the high priest said to him, I put you on oath, by the living God, that you will say to us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.63 예수께서 잠잠하시거늘 대제사장이 가로되 내가 너로 살아 계신 하나님께 맹세하게 하노니 네가 하나님의 아들 그리스도인지 우리에게 말하라
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.64 Jesus says to him, You say so: but I say to you, From now you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.64 예수께서 가라사대 네가 말하였느니라 그러나 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이 후에 인자가 권능의 우편에 앉은 것과 하늘 구름을 타고 오는 것을 너희가 보리라 하시니
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying , He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.65 Then the high priest, violently parting his robes, said, He has said evil against God: what more need have we of witnesses? for now his words against God have come to your ears:65 이에 대제사장이 자기 옷을 찢으며 가로되 저가 참람한 말을 하였으니 어찌 더 증인을 요구하리요 보라 너희가 지금 이 참람한 말을 들었도다
What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.66 What is your opinion? They made answer and said, It is right for him to be put to death.66 생각이 어떠하뇨 대답하여 가로되 저는 사형에 해당하니라 하고
Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,67 Then they put shame on him, and were cruel to him: and some gave him blows, saying,67 이에 예수의 얼굴에 침 뱉으며 주먹으로 치고 혹은 손바닥으로 때리며
Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?68 Be a prophet, O Christ, and say who gave you a blow!68 가로되 그리스도야 우리에게 선지자 노릇을 하라 너를 친 자가 누구냐 하더라
Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.69 Now Peter was seated in the open square outside the house: and a servant-girl came to him, saying, You were with Jesus the Galilaean.69 베드로가 바깥 뜰에 앉았더니 한 비자가 나아와 가로되 너도 갈릴리 사람 예수와 함께 있었도다 하거늘
But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.70 But he said before them all that it was false, saying, I have no knowledge of what you say.70 베드로가 모든 사람 앞에서 부인하여 가로되 나는 네 말하는 것이 무엇인지 알지 못하겠노라 하며
And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.71 And when he had gone out into the doorway, another saw him and says to those who were there, This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.71 앞문까지 나아가니 다른 비자가 저를 보고 거기 있는 사람들에게 말하되 이 사람은 나사렛 예수와 함께 있었도다 하매
And again he denied with an oath , I do not know the man.72 And again he said with an oath, I have no knowledge of the man.72 베드로가 맹세하고 또 부인하여 가로되 내가 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하더라
And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.73 And after a little time those who were near came and said to Peter, Truly you are one of them; because your talk is witness against you.73 조금 후에 곁에 섰던 사람들이 나아와 베드로에게 이르되 너도 진실로 그 당이라 네 말소리가 너를 표명한다 하거늘
Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.74 Then with curses and oaths he said, I have no knowledge of the man. And straight away there came the cry of a cock.74 저가 저주하며 맹세하여 가로되 내가 그 사람을 알지 못하노라 하니 닭이 곧 울더라
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.75 And the word of Jesus came back to Peter, when he said, Before the hour of the cock's cry, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me. And he went out, weeping bitterly.75 이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭 울기 전에 네가 세번 나를 부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라
