1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. 6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying ㆍ, They will reverence my son.	6 He still had one, a dearly loved son: he sent him last to them, saying, They will have respect for my son.	6 오히려 한 사람이 있으니 곧 그의 사랑하는 아들이라 최후로 이를 보내며 가로되 내 아들은 공경하리라 하였더니

7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This ㆍ is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.	7 But those workmen said among themselves, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property; come, let us put him to death, and the heritage will be ours.	7 저 농부들이 서로 말하되 이는 상속자니 자 죽이자 그러면 그 유업이 우리 것이 되리라 하고

8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.	8 And they took him and put him to death, pushing his body out of the garden.	8 이에 잡아 죽여 포도원 밖에 내어던졌느니라

9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.	9 What then will the master of the garden do? He will come and put the workmen to death, and will give the garden into the hands of others.	9 포도원 주인이 어떻게 하겠느뇨 와서 그 농부들을 진멸하고 포도원을 다른 사람들에게 주리라

10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is ㆍ become the head of the corner:	10 Have you not seen this which is in the Writings: The stone which the builders put on one side, the same was made the chief stone of the building:	10 너희가 성경에 건축자들의 버린 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되었나니

11 This was the Lord's doing ㆍ, and it is marvellous in our eyes?	11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is a wonder in our eyes?	11 이것은 주로 말미암아 된 것이요 우리 눈에 기이하도다 함을 읽어 보지도 못하였느냐 하시니라

12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.	12 And they made attempts to take him; but they were in fear of the people, because they saw that the story was against them; and they went away from him.	12 저희가 예수의 이 비유는 자기들을 가리켜 말씀하심인줄 알고 잡고자 하되 무리를 두려워하여 예수를 버려두고 가니라

13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.	13 Then they sent to him certain of the Pharisees and the Herodians, so that they might make use of his words to take him by a trick.	13 저희가 예수의 말씀을 책잡으려 하여 바리새인과 헤롯당 중에서 사람을 보내매

14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and ㆍ carest ㆍ for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?	14 And when they had come, they said to him, Master, we are certain that you are true, and have no fear of anyone: you have no respect for a man's position, but you are teaching the true way of God: Is it right to give taxes to Caesar or not?	14 와서 가로되 선생님이여 우리가 아노니 당신은 참되시고 아무라도 꺼리는 일이 없으시니 이는 사람을 외모로 보지 않고 오직 참으로써 하나님의 도를 가르치심이니이다 가이사에게 세를 바치는 것이 가하니이까 불가하니이까

15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.	15 Are we to give or not to give? But he, conscious of their false hearts, said to them, Why do you put me to the test? give me a penny, so that I may see it.	15 우리가 바치리이까 말리이까 한대 예수께서 그 외식함을 아시고 이르시되 어찌하여 나를 시험하느냐 데나리온 하나를 가져다가 내게 보이라 하시니

16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.	16 And they gave him one. And he said to them, Whose is this image and name on it? And they said to him, Caesar's.	16 가져왔거늘 예수께서 가라사대 이 화상과 이 글이 뉘것이냐 가로되 가이사의 것이니이다

17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.	17 And Jesus said to them, Give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's. And they were full of wonder at him.	17 이에 예수께서 가라사대 가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라 하시니 저희가 예수께 대하여 심히 기이히 여기더라

18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,	18 And there came to him Sadducees, who say there is no coming back from the dead; and they put a question to him, saying,	18 부활이 없다 하는 사두개인들이 예수께 와서 물어 가로되

19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.	19 Master, in the law Moses says, If a man's brother comes to his end, and has a wife still living and no child, it is right for his brother to take his wife, and get a family for his brother.	19 선생님이여 모세가 우리에게 써 주기를 사람의 형이 자식이 없이 아내를 두고 죽거든 그 동생이 그 아내를 취하여 형을 위하여 후사를 세울찌니라 하였나이다

20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.	20 There were seven brothers: and the first took a wife, and at his death there were no offspring;	20 칠 형제가 있었는데 맏이 아내를 취하였다가 후사가 없이 죽고

21 And the second took her, and died ㆍ, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.	21 And the second took her, and at his death there were no offspring; and the third the same:	21 둘째도 그 여자를 취하였다가 후사가 없이 죽고 세째도 그렇게 하여

22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.	22 And all the seven had no seed. Last of all the woman herself came to her death.	22 일곱이 다 후사가 없었고 최후에 여자도 죽었나이다

23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.	23 In the future life, when they come back from the dead, whose wife will she be? for the seven had her for a wife.	23 일곱 사람이 다 그를 아내로 취하였으니 부활을 당하여 저희가 살아날 때에 그중에 뉘 아내가 되리이까

24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore ㆍ err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?	24 Jesus said to them, Is not this the reason for your error, that you have no knowledge of the holy Writings or of the power of God?	24 예수께서 가라사대 너희가 성경도 하나님의 능력도 알지 못하므로 오해함이 아니냐

25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.	25 When they come back from the dead, they do not get married, but are like the angels in heaven.	25 사람이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아날 때에는 장가도 아니가고 시집도 아니가고 하늘에 있는 천사들과 같으니라

26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?	26 But as to the dead coming back to life; have you not seen in the book of Moses, about the burning thorn-tree, how God said to him, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?	26 죽은 자의 살아난다는 것을 의논할찐대 너희가 모세의 책 중 가시나무떨기에 관한 글에 하나님께서 모세에게 이르시되 나는 아브라함의 하나님이요 이삭의 하나님이요 야곱의 하나님이로라 하신 말씀을 읽어보지 못하였느냐

27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.	27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: you are greatly in error.	27 하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 산 자의 하나님이시라 너희가 크게 오해하였도다 하시니라

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?	28 And one of the scribes came, and hearing their argument together, and seeing that he had given them a good answer, put the question to him, Which law is the first of all?	28 서기관 중 한 사람이 저희의 변론하는 것을 듣고 예수께서 대답 잘하신 줄을 알고 나아와 묻되 모든 계명 중에 첫째가 무엇이니이까

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:	29 Jesus said in answer, The first is, Give ear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord;	29 예수께서 대답하시되 첫째는 이것이니 이스라엘아 들으라 주 곧 우리 하나님은 유일한 주시라

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.	30 And you are to have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.	30 네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하신 것이요

31 And the second is like, namely this ㆍ, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.	31 The second is this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself. There is no other law greater than these.	31 둘째는 이것이니 네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라 하신 것이라 이에서 더 큰 계명이 없느니라

32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:	32 And the scribe said to him, Truly, Master, you have well said that he is one, and there is no other but he:	32 서기관이 가로되 선생님이여 옳소이다 하나님은 한 분이시요 그 외에 다른이가 없다 하신 말씀이 참이니이다

33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.	33 And to have love for him with all the heart, and with all the mind, and with all the strength, and to have the same love for his neighbour as for himself, is much more than all forms of offerings.	33 또 마음을 다하고 지혜를 다하고 힘을 다하여 하나님을 사랑하는 것과 또 이웃을 제 몸과 같이 사랑하는 것이 전체로 드리는 모든 번제물과 기타 제물보다 나으니이다

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.	34 And when Jesus saw that he gave a wise answer, he said to him, You are not far from the kingdom of God. And every man after that was in fear of questioning him any more.	34 예수께서 그 지혜 있게 대답함을 보시고 이르시되 네가 하나님의 나라에 멀지 않도다 하시니 그 후에 감히 묻는 자가 없더라

35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?	35 And Jesus, when he was teaching in the Temple, said, How do the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?	35 예수께서 성전에서 가르치실쌔 대답하여 가라사대 어찌하여 서기관들이 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라 하느뇨

36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.	36 David himself said in the Holy Spirit, The Lord said to my Lord, Be seated at my right hand, till I put those who are against you under your feet.	36 다윗이 성령에 감동하여 친히 말하되 주께서 내 주께 이르시되 내가 네 원수를 네 발 아래 둘 때까지 내 우편에 앉았으라 하셨도다 하였느니라

37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.	37 David himself gives him the name of Lord; and how then is he his son? And the common people gave ear to him gladly.	37 다윗이 그리스도를 주라 하였은즉 어찌 그의 자손이 되겠느냐 하시더라 백성이 즐겁게 듣더라

38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,	38 And in his teaching he said, Be on your watch against the scribes, whose pleasure it is to go about in long robes and be respected in the market-places,	38 예수께서 가르치실 때에 가라사대 긴 옷을 입고 다니는 것과 시장에서 문안 받는 것과

39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:	39 And to have the chief seats in the Synagogues and the first places at feasts;	39 회당의 상좌와 잔치의 상석을 원하는 서기관들을 삼가라

40 Which devour widows houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.	40 Who take away the property of widows, and before the eyes of men make long prayers; these will be judged more hardly.	40 저희는 과부의 가산을 삼키며 외식으로 길게 기도하는 자니 그 받는 판결이 더욱 중하리라 하시니라

41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.	41 And he took a seat by the place where the money was kept, and saw how the people put money into the boxes: and a number who had wealth put in much.	41 예수께서 연보 궤를 대하여 앉으사 무리의 연보 궤에 돈 넣는 것을 보실쌔 여러 부자는 많이 넣는데

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
