21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.	21 And they came to Capernaum; and on the Sabbath he went into the Synagogue and gave teaching.	21 저희가 가버나움에 들어가니라 예수께서 곧 안식일에 회당에 들어가 가르치시매

22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught ㆍ them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.	22 And they were full of wonder at his teaching, because he gave it as one having authority, and not like the scribes.	22 뭇사람이 그의 교훈에 놀라니 이는 그 가르치시는 것이 권세 있는 자와 같고 서기관들과 같지 아니함일러라

23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,	23 And there was in their Synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he gave a cry,	23 마침 저희 회당에 더러운 귀신 들린 사람이 있어 소리질러 가로되

24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.	24 Saying, What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? have you come to put an end to us? 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.	26 And the unclean spirit, shaking him violently, and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.	26 더러운 귀신이 그 사람으로 경련을 일으키게 하고 큰 소리를 지르며 나오는지라

27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.	27 And they were all greatly surprised, so that they put questions to one another, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he gives orders even to the unclean spirits, and they do what he says.	27 다 놀라 서로 물어 가로되 이는 어찜이뇨 권세 있는 새 교훈이로다 더러운 귀신들을 명한즉 순종하는도다 하더라

28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.	28 And news of him went out quickly everywhere into all parts of Galilee round about.	28 예수의 소문이 곧 온 갈릴리 사방에 퍼지더라

29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.	29 And when they came out of the Synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.	29 회당에서 나와 곧 야고보와 요한과 함께 시몬과 안드레의 집에 들어가시니

30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.	30 Now Simon's wife's mother was ill, with a burning heat; and they gave him word of her:	30 시몬의 장모가 열병으로 누웠는지라 사람들이 곧 그의 일로 예수께 여짜온대

31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.	31 And he came and took her by the hand, lifting her up; and she became well, and took care of their needs.	31 나아가사 그 손을 잡아 일으키시니 열병이 떠나고 여자가 저희에게 수종드니라

32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.	32 And in the evening, at sundown, they took to him all who were diseased, and those who had evil spirits.	32 저물어 해 질 때에 모든 병자와 귀신들린 자를 예수께 데려오니

33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.	33 And all the town had come together at the door.	33 온 동네가 문앞에 모였더라

34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.	34 And a number, who were ill with different diseases, he made well, and sent out evil spirits; but he did not let the evil spirits say anything, because they had knowledge of him.	34 예수께서 각색 병든 많은 사람을 고치시며 많은 귀신을 내어 쫓으시되 귀신이 자기를 알므로 그 말하는 것을 허락지 아니하시니라

35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.	35 And in the morning, a long time before daylight, he got up and went out to a quiet place, and there he gave himself up to prayer.	35 새벽 오히려 미명에 예수께서 일어나 나가 한적한 곳으로 가사 거기서 기도하시더니

36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.	36 And Simon and those who were with him came after him.	36 시몬과 및 그와 함께 있는 자들이 예수의 뒤를 따라가

37 And when they had found him, they said unto him ㆍ, All men seek for thee.	37 And when they came up with him, they said to him, Everyone is looking for you.	37 만나서 가로되 모든 사람이 주를 찾나이다

38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.	38 And he said to them, Let us go to other parts into the nearest towns, so that I may give teaching there, because for this purpose I came.	38 이르시되 우리가 다른 가까운 마을들로 가자 거기서도 전도하리니 내가 이를 위하여 왔노라 하시고

39 And he preached ㆍ in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.	39 And he went into their Synagogues in every part of Galilee, preaching and driving out evil spirits.	39 이에 온 갈릴리에 다니시며 저희 여러 회당에서 전도하시고 또 귀신들을 내어 쫓으시더라

40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him ㆍ, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.	40 And a leper came to him and, going down on his knees before him, made a request, saying, If it is your pleasure, you have the power to make me clean.	40 한 문둥병자가 예수께 와서 꿇어 엎드리어 간구하여 가로되 원하시면 저를 깨끗케 하실 수 있나이다

41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.	41 And being moved with pity, he put out his hand, and touching him said to him, It is my pleasure; be made clean.	41 예수께서 민망히 여기사 손을 내밀어 저에게 대시며 가라사대 내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하신대

42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.	42 And straight away the disease went from him, and he was made clean.	42 곧 문둥병이 그 사람에게서 떠나가고 깨끗하여진지라

43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;	43 And he sent him away, saying to him very sharply,	43 엄히 경계하사 곧 보내시며

44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.	44 See that you say nothing to any man: but go and let the priest see you, and make yourself clean by an offering of the things ordered by Moses, for a witness to them.	44 가라사대 삼가 아무에게 아무 말도 하지 말고 가서 네 몸을 제사장에게 보이고 네 깨끗케 됨을 인하여 모세의 명한 것을 드려 저희에게 증거하라 하셨더니

45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.	45 But he went out, and made it public, giving an account of it everywhere, so that Jesus was no longer able to go openly into a town, but was outside in the waste land; and they came to him from every part.	45 그러나 그 사람이 나가서 이 일을 많이 전파하여 널리 퍼지게 하니 그러므로 예수께서 다시는 드러나게 동네에 들어가지 못하시고 오직 바깥 한적한 곳에 계셨으나 사방에서 그에게로 나아오더라

King James English

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
