1 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.1 After he had come to the end of all his words in the hearing of the people, he went into Capernaum.1 예수께서 모든 말씀을 백성에게 들려주시기를 마치신 후에 가버나움으로 들어가시니라
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.2 And a certain captain had a servant who was very dear to him; this servant was ill and near to death.2 어떤 백부장의 사랑하는 종이 병들어 죽게 되었더니
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.3 And when news of Jesus came to his ears, he sent to him rulers of the Jews, requesting that he would come and make his servant well.3 예수의 소문을 듣고 유대인의 장로 몇을 보내어 오셔서 그 종을 구원하시기를 청한지라
4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:4 And they, when they came to Jesus, made their request warmly, saying,4 이에 저희가 예수께 나아와 간절히 구하여 가로되 이 일을 하시는 것이 이 사람에게는 합당하니이다
5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.5 It is right for you to do this for him, because he is a friend to our nation, and himself has put up a Synagogue for us.5 저가 우리 민족을 사랑하고 또한 우리를 위하여 회당을 지었나이다 하니
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:6 And Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the man sent friends to him, saying, Lord, do not give yourself trouble: for I am not important enough for you to come into my house:6 예수께서 함께 가실쌔 이에 그 집이 멀지 아니하여 백부장이 벗들을 보내어 가로되 주여 수고하시지 마옵소서 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당치 못하겠나이다
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.7 And I had the feeling that I was not even good enough to come to you: but say the word only, and my servant will be well.7 그러므로 내가 주께 나아가기도 감당치 못할 줄을 알았나이다 말씀만 하사 내 하인을 낫게 하소서
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.8 For I, myself, am a man under authority, having men under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.8 저도 남의 수하에 든 사람이요 제 아래에도 군병이 있으니 이더러 가라 하면 가고 저더러 오라 하면 오고 제 종더러 이것을 하라 하면 하나이다
9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.9 And when these things were said to Jesus, he was surprised, and, turning to the mass of people coming after him, said, I have not seen such great faith, no, not in Israel.9 예수께서 들으시고 저를 기이히 여겨 돌이키사 좇는 무리에게 이르시되 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘 중에서도 이만한 믿음은 만나보지 못하였노라 하시더라
10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.10 And when those who were sent came back to the house they saw that the servant was well.10 보내었던 사람들이 집으로 돌아가 보매 종이 이미 강건하여졌더라
11 And it came to pass ㆍ the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.11 And it came about, after a little time, that he went to a town named Nain; and his disciples went with him, and a great number of people.11 그 후에 예수께서 나인이란 성으로 가실쌔 제자와 허다한 무리가 동행하더니
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold ㆍ, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.12 Now when he came near the door of the town, a dead man was being taken out, the only son of his mother, who was a widow: and a great number of people from the town were with her.12 성문에 가까이 오실 때에 사람들이 한 죽은 자를 메고 나오니 이는 그 어미의 독자요 어미는 과부라 그 성의 많은 사람도 그와 함께 나오거늘
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.13 And when the Lord saw her, he had pity on her and said to her, Be not sad.13 주께서 과부를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 울지 말라 하시고
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.14 And he came near, and put his hand on the stretcher where the dead man was: and those who were moving it came to a stop. And he said, Young man, I say to you, Get up.14 가까이 오사 그 관에 손을 대시니 멘 자들이 서는지라 예수께서 가라사대 청년아 내가 네게 말하노니 일어나라 하시매
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.15 And the dead man got up, and words came from his lips. And he gave him to his mother.15 죽었던 자가 일어앉고 말도 하거늘 예수께서 그를 어미에게 주신대
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.16 And fear came on all, and they gave praise to God, saying, A great prophet is among us: and, God has given thought to his people.16 모든 사람이 두려워하며 하나님께 영광을 돌려 가로되 큰 선지자가 우리 가운데 일어나셨다 하고 또 하나님께서 자기 백성을 돌아보셨다 하더라
17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.17 And this story about him went through all Judaea and the places round about.17 예수께 대한 이 소문이 온 유대와 사방에 두루 퍼지니라
18 And the disciples of John showed him of all these things.18 And the disciples of John gave him an account of all these things.18 요한의 제자들이 이 모든 일을 그에게 고하니
19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?19 Then John sent two of his disciples to the Lord, saying, Are you he who is to come, or are we waiting for another?19 요한이 그 제자 중 둘을 불러 주께 보내어 가로되 오실 그이가 당신이오니이까 우리가 다른이를 기다리오리이까 하라 하매
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?20 And when the men came to him they said, John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, Are you he who is to come, or are we waiting for another?20 저희가 예수께 나아가 가로되 세례 요한이 우리를 보내어 당신께 말하기를 오실 그이가 당신이오니이까 우리가 다른이를 기다리오리이까 하더이다 하니
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.21 At that time, he made a number of people free from their diseases and their pains, and from evil spirits; and to others who were blind he gave back the use of their eyes.21 마침 그 시에 예수께서 질병과 고통과 및 악귀 들린 자를 많이 고치시며 또 많은 소경을 보게 하신지라
22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.22 And answering them he said, Go back and give news to John of what you have seen, and the things which have come to your ears; the blind now see, those who had no power in their legs are walking, lepers are made clean, those who had no hearing now have their ears open, dead men come to life again, and the poor have the good news given to them.22 대답하여 가라사대 너희가 가서 보고 들은 것을 요한에게 고하되 소경이 보며 앉은뱅이가 걸으며 문둥이가 깨끗함을 받으며 귀머거리가 들으며 죽은 자가 살아나며 가난한 자에게 복음이 전파된다 하라
23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.23 And a blessing will be on him who has no doubts about me.23 누구든지 나를 인하여 실족하지 아니하는 자는 복이 있도다 하시니라
24 And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?24 And when the men who were sent by John had gone away, he said to the people, about John, What did you go out into the waste land to see? a tall stem moving in the wind?24 요한의 보낸 자가 떠난 후에 예수께서 무리에게 요한에 대하여 말씀하시되 너희가 무엇을 보려고 광야에 나갔더냐 바람에 흔들리는 갈대냐
25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings courts.25 But what did you go out to see? a man in soft clothing? See now, those who have beautiful clothing and delicate food are in kings' houses.25 그러면 너희가 무엇을 보려고 나갔더냐 부드러운 옷 입은 사람이냐 보라 화려한 옷 입고 사치하게 지내는 자는 왕궁에 있느니라
26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.26 But what did you go out to see? a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.26 그러면 너희가 무엇을 보려고 나갔더냐 선지자냐 옳다 내가 너희에게 이르노니 선지자보다도 나은 자니라
27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.27 This is he of whom it has been said, See, I send my servant before your face, who will make ready your way before you.27 기록된바 보라 내가 내 사자를 네 앞에 보내노니 그가 네 앞에서 네 길을 예비하리라 한 것이 이 사람에 대한 말씀이라
28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.28 I say to you, Among all the sons of women, not one is greater than John: but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.28 내가 너희에게 말하노니 여자가 낳은 자 중에 요한보다 큰이가 없도다 그러나 하나님의 나라에서는 극히 작은 자라도 저보다 크니라 하시니
29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.29 (And all the people, and the tax-farmers, to whom John had given baptism, when they had knowledge of these things, gave glory to God.29 모든 백성과 세리들은 이미 요한의 세례를 받은지라 이 말씀을 듣고 하나님을 의롭다 하되
30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were against the purpose of God for themselves, not having had his baptism.)30 오직 바리새인과 율법사들은 그 세례를 받지 아니한지라 스스로 하나님의 뜻을 저버리니라
31 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?31 What comparison am I to make of the men of this generation? what are they like?31 또 가라사대 이 세대의 사람을 무엇으로 비유할꼬 무엇과 같은고
32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.32 They are like children who are seated in the market-place, crying out to one another, and saying, We made music for you, but you did not take part in the dance; we gave cries of sorrow, but you were not sad.32 비유컨대 아이들이 장터에 앉아 서로 불러 가로되 우리가 너희를 향하여 피리를 불어도 너희가 춤추지 않고 우리가 애곡을 하여도 너희가 울지 아니하였다 함과 같도다
33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.33 For John the Baptist came, taking no food or drink, and you say, He has an evil spirit.33 세례요한이 와서 떡도 먹지 아니하며 포도주도 마시지 아니하매 너희 말이 귀신이 들렸다 하더니
34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!34 The Son of man came feasting, and you say, Here is a lover of food and wine, a friend of tax-farmers and sinners.34 인자는 와서 먹고 마시매 너희 말이 보라 먹기를 탐하고 포도주를 즐기는 사람이요 세리와 죄인의 친구로다 하니
35 But wisdom is justified of all her children.35 But wisdom is judged to be right by all her children.35 지혜는 자기의 모든 자녀로 인하여 옳다 함을 얻느니라
36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.36 And one of the Pharisees made a request that he would take a meal with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house and took his seat at the table.36 한 바리새인이 예수께 자기와 함께 잡수시기를 청하니 이에 바리새인의 집에 들어가 앉으셨을 때에
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,37 And there was a woman in the town who was a sinner; and when she had news that he was a guest in the Pharisee's house, she took a bottle of perfume,37 그 동네에 죄인인 한 여자가 있어 예수께서 바리새인의 집에 앉으셨음을 알고 향유 담은 옥합을 가지고 와서
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.38 And went in and took her place at the back of him, near his feet, weeping, so that his feet were washed with the drops from her eyes, and with her hair she made them dry, and kissing his feet she put the perfume on them.38 예수의 뒤로 그 발 곁에 서서 울며 눈물로 그 발을 적시고 자기 머리털로 씻고 그 발에 입맞추고 향유를 부으니
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet ㆍ, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.39 Now when the Pharisee in whose house he was saw it, he said to himself, This man, if he was a prophet, would be conscious what sort of woman this is who has put her hands on him, that she is a sinner.39 예수를 청한 바리새인이 이것을 보고 마음에 이르되 이 사람이 만일 선지자더면 자기를 만지는 이 여자가 누구며 어떠한 자 곧 죄인인 줄을 알았으리라 하거늘
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.40 And Jesus, answering, said, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Master, say on.40 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 시몬아 내가 네게 이를 말이 있다 하시니 저가 가로되 선생님 말씀하소서
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.41 And he said, Two men were in debt to a certain man of business: one had a debt of five hundred pence, and the other of fifty.41 가라사대 빚 주는 사람에게 빚진 자가 둘이 있어 하나는 오백 데나리온을 졌고 하나는 오십 데나리온을 졌는데
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?42 When they were unable to make payment, he made the two of them free of their debts. Which of them, now, will have the greater love for him?42 갚을 것이 없으므로 둘 다 탕감하여 주었으니 둘 중에 누가 저를 더 사랑하겠느냐
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.43 Simon, in answer, said, It seems he whose debt was greater. And he said, Your decision is right.43 시몬이 대답하여 가로되 제 생각에는 많이 탕감함을 받은 자니이다 가라사대 네 판단이 옳다 하시고
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she ㆍ hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.44 And turning to the woman he said to Simon, You see this woman? I came into your house; you did not give me water for my feet: but she has been washing my feet with the drops from her eyes, and drying them with her hair.44 여자를 돌아보시며 시몬에게 이르시되 이 여자를 보느냐 내가 네 집에 들어오매 너는 내게 발 씻을 물도 주지 아니하였으되 이 여자는 눈물로 내 발을 적시고 그 머리털로 씻었으며
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman ㆍ since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.45 You did not give me a kiss: but she, from the time when I came in, has gone on kissing my feet.45 너는 내게 입맞추지 아니하였으되 저는 내가 들어올 때로부터 내 발에 입맞추기를 그치지 아니하였으며
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman ㆍ hath anointed my feet with ointment.46 You put no oil on my head: but she has put perfume on my feet.46 너는 내 머리에 감람유도 붓지 아니하였으되 저는 향유를 내 발에 부었느니라
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.47 And so I say to you, She will have forgiveness for her sins which are great in number, because of her great love: but he who has small need of forgiveness gives little love.47 이러므로 내가 네게 말하노니 저의 많은 죄가 사하여졌도다 이는 저의 사랑함이 많음이라 사함을 받은 일이 적은 자는 적게 사랑하느니라
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.48 And he said to her, You have forgiveness for your sins.48 이에 여자에게 이르시되 네 죄 사함을 얻었느니라 하시니
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?49 And those who were seated at table with him said to themselves, Who is this who even gives forgiveness of sins?49 함께 앉은 자들이 속으로 말하되 이가 누구이기에 죄도 사하는가 하더라
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.50 And he said to the woman, By your faith you have salvation; go in peace.50 예수께서 여자에게 이르시되 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였으니 평안히 가라 하시니라
