9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.	9 And he gave the people this story: A man made a vine-garden and gave the use of it to some field-workers and went into another country for a long time.	9 이 비유로 백성에게 말씀하시되 한 사람이 포도원을 만들어 농부들에게 세로 주고 타국에 가서 오래 있다가

10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.	10 And at the right time he sent a servant to the workers to get part of the fruit from the vines; but the workmen gave him blows and sent him away with nothing.	10 때가 이르매 포도원 소출 얼마를 바치게 하려고 한 종을 농부들에게 보내니 농부들이 종을 심히 때리고 거저 보내었거늘

11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.	11 And he sent another servant, and they gave blows to him in the same way, and put shame on him, and sent him away with nothing.	11 다시 다른 종을 보내니 그도 심히 때리고 능욕하고 거저 보내었거늘

12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.	12 And he sent a third, and they gave him wounds and put him out.	12 다시 세 번째 종을 보내니 이도 상하게 하고 내어 쫓은지라

13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.	13 And the lord of the garden said, What am I to do? I will send my dearly loved son; they may give respect to him.	13 포도원 주인이 가로되 어찌할꼬 내 사랑하는 아들을 보내리니 저희가 혹 그는 공경하리라 하였더니

14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.	14 But when the workmen saw him, they said to one another, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property: let us put him to death and the heritage will be ours.	14 농부들이 그를 보고 서로 의논하여 가로되 이는 상속자니 죽이고 그 유업을 우리의 것으로 만들자 하고

15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?	15 And driving him out of the garden they put him to death. Now what will the lord do to these workmen?	15 포도원 밖에 내어쫓아 죽였느니라 그런즉 포도원 주인이 이 사람들을 어떻게 하겠느뇨

16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.	16 He will come and put them to destruction and give the garden to others. And when he said this, they said, May it not be so.	16 와서 그 농부들을 진멸하고 포도원을 다른 사람들에게 주리라 하시니 사람들이 듣고 가로되 그렇게 되지 말아지이다 하거늘

17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?	17 But he, looking on them, said, Is it not in the Writings, The stone which the builders put on one side, the same has become the chief stone of the building?	17 저희를 보시며 가라사대 그러면 기록된바 건축자들의 버린 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되었느니라 함이 어찜이뇨

18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.	18 Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but the man on whom the stone comes down will be crushed to dust.	18 무릇 이 돌 위에 떨어지는 자는 깨어지겠고 이 돌이 사람 위에 떨어지면 저로 가루를 만들어 흩으리라 하시니라

19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same ㆍ hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.	19 And the chief priests and the scribes made attempts to get their hands on him in that very hour; and they were in fear of the people, for they saw that he had made up this story against them.	19 서기관들과 대제사장들이 예수의 이 비유는 자기들을 가리켜 말씀하심인줄 알고 즉시 잡고자 하되 백성을 두려워하더라

20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign ㆍ themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.	20 And they kept watch on him, and sent out secret representatives, who were acting the part of good men, in order that they might get something from his words, on account of which they might give him up to the government and into the power of the ruler.	20 이에 저희가 엿보다가 예수를 총독의 치리와 권세 아래 붙이려 하여 정탐들을 보내어 그들로 스스로 의인인 체하며 예수의 말을 책잡게 하니

21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly ㆍ, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:	21 And they put a question to him, saying, Master, we are certain that your teaching and your words are right, and that you have no respect for a man's position, but you are teaching the true way of God:	21 그들이 물어 가로되 선생님이여 우리가 아노니 당신은 바로 말씀하시고 가르치시며 사람을 외모로 취치 아니하시고 오직 참으로서 하나님의 도를 가르치시나이다

22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?	22 Is it right for us to make payment of taxes to Caesar or not?	22 우리가 가이사에게 세를 바치는 것이 가하니이까 불가하니이까 하니

23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?	23 But he saw through their trick and said to them,	23 예수께서 그 간계를 아시고 가라사대

24 Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.	24 Let me see a penny. Whose image and name are on it? And they said, Caesar's.	24 데나리온 하나를 내게 보이라 뉘 화상과 글이 여기 있느냐 대답하되 가이사의 것이니이다

25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.	25 And he said, Then give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.	25 가라사대 그런즉 가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라 하시니

26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.	26 And they were not able to get anything from these words before the people: but they were full of wonder at his answer, and said nothing.	26 저희가 백성 앞에서 그의 말을 능히 책잡지 못하고 그의 대답을 기이히 여겨 잠잠하니라

27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,	27 And some of the Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no coming back from the dead; and they said to him,	27 부활이 없다 주장하는 사두개인 중 어떤이들이 와서

28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.	28 Master, Moses said that if a man's brother comes to his end, having a wife, but no children, his brother is to take the wife, and get a family for his brother.	28 물어 가로되 선생님이여 모세가 우리에게 써 주기를 사람의 형이 만일 아내를 두고 자식이 없이 죽거든 그 동생이 그 아내를 취하여 형을 위하여 후사를 세울찌니라 하였나이다

29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.	29 Now there were seven brothers, and the first had a wife and came to his end, having no children;	29 그런데 칠 형제가 있었는데 맏이 아내를 취하였다가 자식이 없이 죽고

30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.	30 And the second;	30 그 둘째와 세째가 저를 취하고

31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.	31 And the third took her; and in the same way, all the seven, without having any children, came to their end.	31 일곱이 다 그와 같이 자식이 없이 죽고

32 ㆍ Last of all the woman died also.	32 And last of all, the woman came to her end.	32 그 후에 여자도 죽었나이다

33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.	33 When they come back from the dead, whose wife will she be? for all the seven had her.	33 일곱이 다 저를 아내로 취하였으니 부활 때에 그 중에 뉘 아내가 되리이까

34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:	34 And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world are married and have wives;	34 예수께서 이르시되 이 세상의 자녀들은 장가도 가고 시집도 가되

35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:	35 But those to whom is given the reward of the world to come, and to come back from the dead, have no wives, and are not married;	35 저 세상과 및 죽은 자 가운데서 부활함을 얻기에 합당히 여김을 입은 자들은 장가가고 시집가는 일이 없으며

36 Neither ㆍ can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.	36 And death has no more power over them, for they are equal to the angels, and are sons of God, being of those who will come back from the dead.	36 저희는 다시 죽을 수도 없나니 이는 천사와 동등이요 부활의 자녀로서 하나님의 자녀임이니라

37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.	37 But even Moses made it clear that the dead come back to life, saying, in the story of the burning thorn-tree, The Lord, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.	37 죽은 자의 살아난다는 것은 모세도 가시나무떨기에 관한 글에 보였으되 주를 아브라함의 하나님이요 이삭의 하나님이요 야곱의 하나님이시라 칭하였나니

38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.	38 Now he is not the God of the dead but of the living: for all men are living to him.	38 하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 산 자의 하나님이시라 하나님에게는 모든 사람이 살았느니라 하시니

39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.	39 And some of the scribes, in answer to this, said, Master, you have said well.	39 서기관 중 어떤이들이 말하되 선생이여 말씀이 옳으니이다 하니

40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.	40 And they had fear of putting any more questions to him.	40 저희는 아무 것도 감히 더 물을 수 없음이더라

41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?	41 And he said to them, Why do they say that the Christ is the son of David?	41 예수께서 저희에게 이르시되 사람들이 어찌하여 그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라 하느냐

42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,	42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Take your seat at my right hand,	42 시편에 다윗이 친히 말하였으되 주께서 내 주께 이르시되

43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.	43 Till I put under your feet all those who are against you.	43 내가 네 원수를 네 발의 발등상으로 둘 때까지 내 우편에 앉았으라 하셨도다 하였느니라

44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?	44 David then gives him the name of Lord, so how is it possible for him to be his son?	44 그런즉 다윗이 그리스도를 주라 칭하였으니 어찌 그의 자손이 되겠느뇨 하시니라

45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,	45 And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples,	45 모든 백성이 들을 때에 예수께서 그 제자들에게 이르시되

46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;	46 Keep away from the scribes, whose pleasure it is to go about in long robes, and to have words of respect said to them in the market-places, and to take the chief seats in the Synagogues and the first places at feasts;	46 긴 옷을 입고 다니는 것을 원하며 시장에서 문안 받는 것과 회당의 상좌와 잔치의 상석을 좋아하는 서기관들을 삼가라

47 Which devour widows houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.	47 Who take the property of widows and before the eyes of men make long prayers; they will get a greater punishment.	47 저희는 과부의 가산을 삼키며 외식으로 길게 기도하니 그 받는 판결이 더욱 중하리라 하시니라

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
