6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.	6 And the Lord said, Give ear to the words of the evil judge.	6 주께서 또 가라사대 불의한 재판관의 말한 것을 들으라

7 And shall not God avenge ㆍ his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?	7 And will not God do right in the cause of his saints, whose cries come day and night to his ears, though he is long in doing it?	7 하물며 하나님께서 그 밤낮 부르짖는 택하신 자들의 원한을 풀어 주지 아니하시겠느냐 저희에게 오래 참으시겠느냐

8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily ㆍ. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?	8 I say to you that he will quickly do right in their cause. But when the Son of man comes, will there be any faith on earth?	8 내가 너희에게 이르노니 속히 그 원한을 풀어 주시리라 그러나 인자가 올 때에 세상에서 믿음을 보겠느냐 하시니라

9 And he spake ㆍ this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:	9 And he made this story for some people who were certain that they were good, and had a low opinion of others:	9 또 자기를 의롭다고 믿고 다른 사람을 멸시하는 자들에게 이 비유로 말씀하시되

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.	10 Two men went up to the Temple for prayer; one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-farmer.	10 두 사람이 기도하러 성전에 올라가니 하나는 바리새인이요 하나는 세리라

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.	11 The Pharisee, taking up his position, said to himself these words: God, I give you praise because I am not like other men, who take more than their right, who are evil-doers, who are untrue to their wives, or even like this tax-farmer.	11 바리새인은 서서 따로 기도하여 가로되 하나님이여 나는 다른 사람들 곧 토색, 불의, 간음을 하는 자들과 같지 아니하고 이 세리와도 같지 아니함을 감사하나이다

12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.	12 Twice in the week I go without food; I give a tenth of all I have.	12 나는 이레에 두번씩 금식하고 또 소득의 십일조를 드리나이다 하고

13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.	13 The tax-farmer, on the other hand, keeping far away, and not lifting up even his eyes to heaven, made signs of grief and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner.	13 세리는 멀리 서서 감히 눈을 들어 하늘을 우러러 보지도 못하고 다만 가슴을 치며 가로되 하나님이여 불쌍히 여기옵소서 나는 죄인이로소이다 하였느니라

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.	14 I say to you, This man went back to his house with God's approval, and not the other: for everyone who makes himself high will be made low and whoever makes himself low will be made high.	14 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이 사람이 저보다 의롭다 하심을 받고 집에 내려 갔느니라 무릇 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라 하시니라

15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.	15 And they took their children to him, so that he might put his hands on them: but when the disciples saw it, they said sharp words to them	15 사람들이 예수의 만져 주심을 바라고 자기 어린 아기를 데리고 오매 제자들이 보고 꾸짖거늘

16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.	16 But Jesus sent for them, saying, Let the children come to me, and do not keep them away, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.	16 예수께서 그 어린 아이들을 불러 가까이 하시고 이르시되 어린 아이들이 내게 오는 것을 용납하고 금하지 말라 하나님의 나라가 이런 자의 것이니라

17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.	17 Truly I say to you, Whoever does not put himself under the kingdom of God like a little child, will not come into it at all.	17 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 하나님의 나라를 어린 아이와 같이 받들지 않는 자는 결단코 들어가지 못하리라 하시니라

18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?	18 And a certain ruler put a question to him, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life?	18 어떤 관원이 물어 가로되 선한 선생님이여 내가 무엇을 하여야 영생을 얻으리이까

19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.	19 And Jesus said to him, Why do you say that I am good? No one is good, but only God.	19 예수께서 이르시되 네가 어찌하여 나를 선하다 일컫느냐 하나님 한분 외에는 선한 이가 없느니라

20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.	20 You have knowledge of what the law says: Do not be untrue to your wife, Do not put anyone to death, Do not take what is not yours, Do not give false witness, Give honour to your father and mother.	20 네가 계명을 아나니 간음하지 말라, 살인하지 말라, 도적질하지 말라, 거짓증거하지 말라, 네 부모를 공경하라 하였느니라

21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.	21 And he said, All these things I have done from the time when I was a boy.	21 여짜오되 이것은 내가 어려서부터 다 지키었나이다

22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.	22 And Jesus, hearing it, said to him, One thing you still have need of; get money for your goods, and give it away to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; and come after me.	22 예수께서 이 말을 들으시고 이르시되 네가 오히려 한 가지 부족한 것이 있으니 네게 있는 것을 다 팔아 가난한 자들을 나눠 주라 그리하면 하늘에서 보화가 네게 있으리라 그리고 와서 나를 좇으라 하시니

23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.	23 But at these words he became very sad, for he had great wealth.	23 그 사람이 큰 부자인고로 이 말씀을 듣고 심히 근심하더라

24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!	24 And Jesus, looking at him, said, How hard it is for those who have wealth to get into the kingdom of God!	24 예수께서 저를 보시고 가라사대 재물이 있는 자는 하나님의 나라에 들어가기가 어떻게 어려운지

25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.	25 It is simpler for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a man who has much money to come into the kingdom of God.	25 약대가 바늘귀로 들어가는 것이 부자가 하나님의 나라에 들어가는 것보다 쉬우니라 하신대

26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?	26 And those who were present said, Then who may have salvation?	26 듣는 자들이 가로되 그런즉 누가 구원을 얻을 수 있나이까

27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.	27 But he said, Things which are not possible with man are possible with God.	27 가라사대 무릇 사람의 할 수 없는 것을 하나님은 하실 수 있느니라

28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.	28 And Peter said, See, we have given up what is ours to come after you.	28 베드로가 여짜오되 보옵소서 우리가 우리의 것을 다 버리고 주를 좇았나이다

29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you ㆍ, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,	29 And he said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has given up house or wife or brothers or father or mother or children, because of the kingdom of God,	29 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 하나님의 나라를 위하여 집이나 아내나 형제나 부모나 자녀를 버린 자는

30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.	30 Who will not get much more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.	30 금세에 있어 여러 배를 받고 내세에 영생을 받지 못할 자가 없느니라 하시니라

31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.	31 And he took with him the twelve and said to them, Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things which were said by the prophets will be done to the Son of man.	31 예수께서 열 두 제자를 데리시고 이르시되 보라 우리가 예루살렘으로 올라가노니 선지자들로 기록된 모든 것이 인자에게 응하리라

32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:	32 For he will be given up to the Gentiles, and will be made sport of and put to shame:	32 인자가 이방인들에게 넘기워 희롱을 받고 능욕을 받고 침 뱉음을 받겠으며

33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.	33 And he will be given cruel blows and put to death, and on the third day he will come back to life.	33 저희는 채찍질하고 죽일 것이니 저는 삼일만에 살아나리라 하시되

34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them ㆍ, neither knew they the things which were spoken.	34 But they did not take in the sense of any of these words, and what he said was not clear to them, and their minds were not able to see it.	34 제자들이 이것을 하나도 깨닫지 못하였으니 그 말씀이 감추였으므로 저희가 그 이르신 바를 알지 못하였더라

35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:	35 And it came about that when he got near Jericho, a certain blind man was seated by the side of the road, making requests for money from those who went by.	35 여리고에 가까이 오실 때에 한 소경이 길 가에 앉아 구걸하다가

36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.	36 And hearing the sound of a great number of people going by, he said, What is this?	36 무리의 지남을 듣고 이 무슨 일이냐고 물은대

37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.	37 And they said to him, Jesus of Nazareth is going by.	37 저희가 나사렛 예수께서 지나신다 하니

38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.	38 And he said in a loud voice, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.	38 소경이 외쳐 가로되 다윗의 자손 예수여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하거늘

39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.	39 And those who were in front made protests and said to him, Be quiet: but he said all the more, O Son of David, have mercy on me.	39 앞서 가는 자들이 저를 꾸짖어 잠잠하라 하되 저가 더욱 심히 소리질러 다윗의 자손이여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하는지라

40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,	40 And Jesus, stopping, gave orders that he was to come to him, and when he came near, he said to him,	40 예수께서 머물러 서서 명하여 데려오라 하셨더니 저가 가까이 오매 물어 가라사대

41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.	41 What would you have me do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may be able to see again.	41 네게 무엇을 하여 주기를 원하느냐 가로되 주여 보기를 원하나이다

42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.	42 And Jesus said, See again: your faith has made you well.	42 예수께서 저에게 이르시되 보아라 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라 하시매

43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.	43 And straight away he was able to see, and he went after him, giving glory to God; and all the people when they saw it gave praise to God.	43 곧 보게 되어 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 예수를 좇으니 백성이 다 이를 보고 하나님을 찬양하니라

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
