4 Or those eighteen, ㆍ ㆍ, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?	4 Or those eighteen men who were crushed by the fall of the tower of Siloam, were they worse than all the other men living in Jerusalem?	4 또 실로암에서 망대가 무너져 치어 죽은 열 여덟 사람이 예루살렘에 거한 모든 사람보다 죄가 더 있는줄 아느냐

6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon ㆍ, and found none.	6 And he made up this story for them: A certain man had a fig-tree in his garden, and he came to get fruit from it, and there was no fruit.	6 이에 비유로 말씀하시되 한 사람이 포도원에 무화과나무를 심은 것이 있더니 와서 그 열매를 구하였으나 얻지 못한지라

7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why ㆍ cumbereth it the ground?	7 And he said to the gardener, See, for three years I have been looking for fruit from this tree, and I have not had any: let it be cut down; why is it taking up space?	7 과원지기에게 이르되 내가 삼 년을 와서 이 무화과나무에 실과를 구하되 얻지 못하니 찍어버리라 어찌 땅만 버리느냐

8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung ㆍ it:	8 And he said, Lord, let it be for this year, and I will have the earth turned up round it, and put animal waste on it, to make it fertile:	8 대답하여 가로되 주인이여 금년에도 그대로 두소서 내가 두루 파고 거름을 주리니

9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that ㆍ thou shalt cut it down.	9 And if, after that, it has fruit, it is well; if not, let it be cut down.	9 이 후에 만일 실과가 열면이어니와 그렇지 않으면 찍어버리소서 하였다 하시니라

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen ㆍ ㆍ years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.	11 And there was a woman who had had a disease for eighteen years; she was bent, and was not able to make herself straight.	11 십 팔년 동안을 귀신들려 앓으며 꼬부라져 조금도 펴지 못하는 한 여자가 있더라

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.	13 And he put his hands on her, and she was made straight, and gave praise to God.	13 안수하시매 여자가 곧 펴고 하나님께 영광을 돌리는지라

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.	14 And the ruler of the Synagogue was angry because Jesus had made her well on the Sabbath, and he said to the people, There are six days in which men may do work: so come on those days to be made well, and not on the Sabbath.	14 회당장이 예수께서 안식일에 병 고치시는 것을 분내어 무리에게 이르되 일할 날이 엿새가 있으니 그 동안에 와서 고침을 받을 것이요 안식일에는 말 것이니라 하거늘

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?	15 But the Lord gave him an answer and said, O you false men! do you not, every one of you, on the Sabbath, let loose his ox and his ass and take it to the water?	15 주께서 대답하여 가라사대 외식하는 자들아 너희가 각각 안식일에 자기의 소나 나귀나 마구에서 풀어내어 이끌고 가서 물을 먹이지 아니하느냐

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen ㆍ ㆍ years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?	16 And is it not right for this daughter of Abraham, who has been in the power of Satan for eighteen years, to be made free on the Sabbath?	16 그러면 십 팔년 동안 사단에게 매인바 된 이 아브라함의 딸을 안식일에 이 매임에서 푸는 것이 합당치 아니하냐

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.	17 And when he said these things, those who were against him were shamed, and all the people were full of joy because of the great things which were done by him.	17 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시매 모든 반대하는 자들은 부끄러워하고 온 무리는 그 하시는 모든 영광스러운 일을 기뻐하니라

18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?	18 Then he said, What is the kingdom of God like? what comparison may I make of it?	18 그러므로 가라사대 하나님의 나라가 무엇과 같을꼬 내가 무엇으로 비할꼬

19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed ㆍ a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.	19 It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and put in his garden, and it became a tree, and the birds of heaven made their resting-places in its branches.	19 마치 사람이 자기 채전에 갖다 심은 겨자씨 한 알 같으니 자라 나무가 되어 공중의 새들이 그 가지에 깃들였느니라

24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.	24 Do your best to go in by the narrow door, for I say to you, A number will make the attempt to go in, but will not be able to do so.	24 좁은 문으로 들어가기를 힘쓰라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 들어가기를 구하여도 못하는 자가 많으리라

25 When once ㆍ the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:	25 When the master of the house has got up, and the door has been shut, and you, still outside, give blows on the door, saying, Lord, let us in; he will make answer and say, I have no knowledge of where you come from.	25 집 주인이 일어나 문을 한번 닫은 후에 너희가 밖에 서서 문을 두드리며 주여 열어 주소서 하면 저가 대답하여 가로되 나는 너희가 어디로서 온 자인지 알지 못하노라 하리니

26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.	26 Then you will say, We have taken food and drink with you, and you were teaching in our streets.	26 그 때에 너희가 말하되 우리는 주 앞에서 먹고 마셨으며 주는 또한 우리 길거리에서 가르치셨나이다 하나

27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.	27 But he will say, Truly, I have no knowledge of you or where you come from; go away from me, you workers of evil.	27 저가 너희에게 일러 가로되 나는 너희가 어디로서 왔는지 알지 못하노라 행악하는 모든 자들아 나를 떠나 가라 하리라

28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.	28 There will be weeping and cries of sorrow when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves are shut outside.	28 너희가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 모든 선지자는 하나님 나라에 있고 오직 너희는 밖에 쫓겨난 것을 볼 때에 거기서 슬피 울며 이를 갊이 있으리라

29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.	29 And they will come from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south, and take their places in the kingdom of God.	29 사람들이 동서 남북으로부터 와서 하나님의 나라 잔치에 참석하리니

30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.	30 And the last will be first, and the first will be last.	30 보라 나중 된 자로서 먼저 될 자도 있고 먼저 된 자로서 나중 될 자도 있느니라 하시더라

31 The same ㆍ day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.	31 At that time, certain Pharisees came to him and said, Go away from this place, because Herod's purpose is to put you to death.	31 곧 그 때에 어떤 바리새인들이 나아와서 이르되 나가서 여기를 떠나소서 헤롯이 당신을 죽이고자 하나이다

32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.	32 And he said, Go and say to that fox, I send out evil spirits and do works of mercy today and tomorrow, and on the third day my work will be complete.	32 가라사대 가서 저 여우에게 이르되 오늘과 내일 내가 귀신을 쫓아내며 병을 낫게 하다가 제 삼일에는 완전하여지리라 하라

33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be ㆍ that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.	33 But I have to go on my way today and tomorrow and the third day, for it is not right for a prophet to come to his death outside Jerusalem.	33 그러나 오늘과 내일과 모레는 내가 갈 길을 가야 하리니 선지자가 예루살렘 밖에서는 죽는 법이 없느니라

34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!	34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, putting to death the prophets, and stoning those who were sent to her! again and again would I have taken your children to myself, as a bird takes her young ones under her wings, but you would not!	34 예루살렘아 예루살렘아 선지자들을 죽이고 네게 파송된 자들을 돌로 치는 자여 암탉이 제새끼를 날개 아래 모음 같이 내가 너희의 자녀를 모으려한일이 몇 번이냐 그러나 너희가 원치 아니하였도다

35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you ㆍ, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.	35 Now see, your house is waste, and I say to you, You will not see me again till you say, A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord.	35 보라 너희 집이 황폐하여 버린바 되리라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 주의 이름으로 오시는 이를 찬송하리로다 할 때까지는 나를 보지 못하리라 하시니라

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
