1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.1 And it came about that he was in prayer in a certain place, and when he came to an end, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, will you give us teaching about prayer, as John did to his disciples?1 예수께서 한 곳에서 기도하시고 마치시매 제자 중 하나가 여짜오되 주여 요한이 자기 제자들에게 기도를 가르친 것과 같이 우리에게도 가르쳐 주옵소서
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.2 And he said to them, When you say your prayers, say, Father, may your name be kept holy and your kingdom come.2 예수께서 이르시되 너희는 기도할 때에 이렇게 하라 아버지여 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받으시오며 나라이 임하옵시며
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.3 Give us every day bread for our needs.3 우리에게 날마다 일용할 양식을 주옵시고
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.4 May we have forgiveness for our sins, as we make free all those who are in debt to us. And let us not be put to the test.4 우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 모든 사람을 용서하오니 우리 죄도 사하여 주옵시고 우리를 시험에 들게 하지 마옵소서 하라
5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;5 And he said to them, Which of you, having a friend, would go to him in the middle of the night and say to him, Friend, let me have three cakes of bread;5 또 이르시되 너희 중에 누가 벗이 있는데 밤중에 그에게 가서 말하기를 벗이여 떡 세 덩이를 내게 빌리라
6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?6 Because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to put before him;6 내 벗이 여행 중에 내게 왔으나 내가 먹일 것이 없노라 하면
7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble ㆍ me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot ㆍ rise and give thee.7 And he, from inside the house, would say in answer, Do not be a trouble to me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; it is not possible for me to get up and give to you?7 저가 안에서 대답하여 이르되 나를 괴롭게 하지 말라 문이 이미 닫혔고 아이들이 나와 함께 침소에 누웠으니 일어나 네게 줄 수가 없노라 하겠느냐
8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.8 I say to you, Though he will not get up and give to him, because he is his friend, still, if he keeps on making his request, he will get up and give him as much as he has need of.8 내가 너희에게 말하노니 비록 벗됨을 인하여서는 일어나 주지 아니할찌라도 그 강청함을 인하여 일어나 그 소용대로 주리라
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.9 And I say to you, Make requests, and they will be answered; what you are searching for, you will get; when you give the sign, the door will be open to you.9 내가 또 너희에게 이르노니 구하라 그러면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그러면 찾을 것이요 문을 두드리라 그러면 너희에게 열릴 것이니
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.10 For to everyone who makes a request, it will be given; and he who is searching will get his desire; and to him who gives the sign, the door will be open.10 구하는 이마다 받을 것이요 찾는 이가 찾을 것이요 두드리는 이에게 열릴 것이니라
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father ㆍ, will he give ㆍ him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give ㆍ him a serpent?11 And which of you, being a father, will give a stone to his son, who makes request for bread? or for a fish, will give him a snake?11 너희 중에 아비된 자 누가 아들이 생선을 달라 하면 생선 대신에 뱀을 주며
12 Or ㆍ if he shall ask an egg, will he offer ㆍ him a scorpion?12 Or for an egg, will give him a scorpion?12 알을 달라 하면 전갈을 주겠느냐
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father ㆍ give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?13 If, then, you who are evil are able to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who make request to him?13 너희가 악할찌라도 좋은 것을 자식에게 줄줄 알거든 하물며 너희 천부께서 구하는 자에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐 하시니라
14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.14 And he was sending an evil spirit out of a man who was without the power of talking. And it came about that when the spirit had gone the man had the power of talking; and the people were full of wonder.14 예수께서 한 벙어리 귀신을 쫓아 내시니 귀신이 나가매 벙어리가 말하는지라 무리들이 기이히 여겼으나
15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.15 But some of them said, He sends out evil spirits by Beelzebul, the ruler of evil spirits.15 그 중에 더러는 말하기를 저가 귀신의 왕 바알세불을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아낸다 하고
16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.16 And others, testing him, were looking for a sign from heaven from him.16 또 더러는 예수를 시험하여 하늘로서 오는 표적을 구하니
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.17 But he, having knowledge of their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom in which there is division is made waste; and a house in which there is division comes to destruction.17 예수께서 저희 생각을 아시고 이르시되 스스로 분쟁하는 나라마다 황폐하여지며 스스로 분쟁하는 집은 무너지느니라
18 If ㆍ Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.18 If, then, Satan is at war with himself, how will he keep his kingdom? because you say that I send evil spirits out of men by the help of Beelzebul.18 너희 말이 내가 바알세불을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아낸다 하니 만일 사단이 스스로 분쟁하면 저의 나라가 어떻게 서겠느냐
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.19 And if I, by Beelzebul, send out evil spirits, by whose help do your sons send them out? so let them be your judges.19 내가 바알세불을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내면 너희 아들들은 누구를 힘입어 쫓아내느냐 그러므로 저희가 너희 재판관이 되리라
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.20 But if I, by the finger of God, send out evil spirits, then the kingdom of God has overtaken you.20 그러나 내가 만일 하나님의 손을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내는 것이면 하나님의 나라가 이미 너희에게 임하였느니라
21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:21 When the strong man armed keeps watch over his house, then his goods are safe:21 강한 자가 무장을 하고 자기 집을 지킬 때에는 그 소유가 안전하되
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.22 But when one who is stronger makes an attack on him and overcomes him, he takes away his instruments of war, in which he had put his faith, and makes division of his goods.22 더 강한 자가 와서 저를 이길 때에는 저의 믿던 무장을 빼앗고 저의 재물을 나누느니라
23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.23 He who is not with me is against me, and he who will not give me help in getting people together is driving them away.23 나와 함께 아니하는 자는 나를 반대하는 자요 나와 함께 모으지 아니하는 자는 헤치는 자니라
24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.24 The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of a man, goes through dry places, looking for rest; and when he does not get it, he says, I will go back to my house from which I came.24 더러운 귀신이 사람에게서 나갔을 때에 물 없는 곳으로 다니며 쉬기를 구하되 얻지 못하고 이에 가로되 내가 나온 내 집으로 돌아가리라 하고
25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.25 And when he comes, he sees that it has been made fair and clean.25 와 보니 그 집이 소제되고 수리되었거늘
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.26 Then he goes and gets seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they go in, and take their places there: and the last condition of that man is worse than the first.26 이에 가서 저보다 더 악한 귀신 일곱을 데리고 들어가서 거하니 그 사람의 나중 형편이 전보다 더 심하게 되느니라
27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.27 And it came about that when he said these things, a certain woman among the people said in a loud voice, Happy is the body which gave you birth, and the breasts from which you took milk.27 이 말씀 하실 때에 무리 중에서 한 여자가 음성을 높여 가로되 당신을 밴 태와 당신을 먹인 젖이 복이 있도소이다 하니
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.28 But he said, More happy are they who give hearing to the word of God and keep it.28 예수께서 가라사대 오히려 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 지키는 자가 복이 있느니라 하시니라
29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.29 And when a great number of people came together to him, he said, This generation is an evil generation: it is looking for a sign and no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah.29 무리가 모였을 때에 예수께서 말씀하시되 이 세대는 악한 세대라 표적을 구하되 요나의 표적 밖에는 보일 표적이 없나니
30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.30 For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of man be to this generation.30 요나가 니느웨 사람들에게 표적이 됨과 같이 인자도 이 세대에 그러하리라
31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.31 The queen of the South will come up on the day of judging and give her decision against the men of this generation: for she came from the ends of the earth to give ear to the wisdom of Solomon; and now something greater than Solomon is here.31 심판 때에 남방 여왕이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그가 솔로몬의 지혜로운 말을 들으려고 땅 끝에서 왔음이어니와 솔로몬보다 더 큰이가 여기 있으며
32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.32 The men of Nineveh will come up in the day of judging and give their decision against this generation: for they were turned away from their sins at the preaching of Jonah; but now something greater than Jonah is here.32 심판 때에 니느웨 사람들이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그들이 요나의 전도를 듣고 회개하였음이어니와 요나보다 더 큰이가 여기 있느니라
33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.33 No man, when the light has been lighted, puts it in a secret place, or under a vessel, but on its table, so that those who come in may see the light.33 누구든지 등불을 켜서 움속에나 말 아래 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이는 들어가는 자로 그 빛을 보게 하려 함이니라
34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.34 The light of the body is the eye: when your eye is true, all your body is full of light; but when it is evil, your body is dark.34 네 몸의 등불은 눈이라 네 눈이 성하면 온 몸이 밝을 것이요 만일 나쁘면 네 몸도 어두우리라
35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.35 So take care that the light which is in you is not dark.35 그러므로 네 속에 있는 빛이 어둡지 아니한가 보라
36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no ㆍ part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.36 If, then, all your body is light, with no part of it dark, it will be completely full of light, as when a flame with its bright shining gives you light.36 네 온 몸이 밝아 조금도 어두운데가 없으면 등불의 광선이 너를 비출 때와 같이 온전히 밝으리라 하시니라
37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.37 Now, while he was talking, a Pharisee made a request that he would come to a meal with him; and he went in and took his seat at the meal.37 예수께서 말씀하실 때에 한 바리새인이 자기와 함께 점심 잡수시기를 청하므로 들어가 앉으셨더니
38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he was surprised because he came to the meal without first washing himself.38 잡수시기 전에 손 씻지 아니하심을 이 바리새인이 보고 이상히 여기는지라
39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.39 And the Lord said to him, You Pharisees make the outside of the cup and the plate clean; but inside you are thieves and full of evil.39 주께서 이르시되 너희 바리새인은 지금 잔과 대접의 겉은 깨끗이 하나 너희 속인즉 탐욕과 악독이 가득하도다
40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?40 O you foolish ones! did not he who made the outside in the same way make the inside?40 어리석은 자들아 밖을 만드신 이가 속도 만들지 아니하셨느냐
41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.41 But if you give to the poor such things as you are able, then all things are clean to you.41 오직 그 안에 있는 것으로 구제하라 그리하면 모든 것이 너희에게 깨끗하리라
42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.42 But a curse is on you, Pharisees! for you make men give a tenth of every sort of plant, and give no thought to right and the love of God; but it is right for you to do these things, and not let the others be undone.42 화 있을찐저 너희 바리새인이여 너희가 박하와 운향과 모든 채소의 십일조를 드리되 공의와 하나님께 대한 사랑은 버리는도다 그러나 이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 아니하여야 할찌니라
43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.43 A curse is on you, Pharisees! for your desires are for the most important seats in the Synagogues and for words of respect said to you in the market-place.43 화 있을찐저 너희 바리새인이여 너희가 회당의 높은 자리와 시장에서 문안 받는 것을 기뻐하는도다
44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.44 A curse is on you! for you are like the resting-places of dead men, which are not seen, and men go walking over them without knowledge of it.44 화 있을찐저 너희여 너희는 평토장한 무덤 같아서 그 위를 밟는 사람이 알지 못하느니라
45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.45 And one of the teachers of the law, answering, said to him, Master, in saying this, you give a bad name to us as to them.45 한 율법사가 예수께 대답하여 가로되 선생님 이렇게 말씀하시니 우리까지 모욕하심이니이다
46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.46 And he said, A curse is on you, teachers of the law! for while other men are crushed under the weight of the rules you make for them, you yourselves do not put so much as one finger to them.46 가라사대 화 있을찐저 또 너희 율법사여 지기 어려운 짐을 사람에게 지우고 너희는 한 손가락도 이 짐에 대지 않는도다
47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.47 A curse is on you! for you make resting-places for the bodies of the prophets, but your fathers put them to death.47 화 있을찐저 너희는 선지자들의 무덤을 쌓는도다 저희를 죽인 자도 너희 조상들이로다
48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.48 So you are witnesses and give approval to the work of your fathers; for they put them to death and you make their last resting-places.48 이와 같이 저희는 죽이고 너희는 쌓으니 너희가 너희 조상의 행한 일에 증인이 되어 옳게 여기는도다
49 Therefore ㆍ also said the wisdom of God, I will send ㆍ them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:49 For this reason the wisdom of God has said, I will send them prophets and teachers, and to some of them they will give death and cruel pains;49 이러므로 하나님의 지혜가 일렀으되 내가 선지자와 사도들을 저희에게 보내리니 그 중에 더러는 죽이며 또 핍박하리라 하였으니
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;50 So that punishment may come on this generation for the blood of all the prophets which was given from the earliest days;50 창세 이후로 흘린 모든 선지자의 피를 이 세대가 담당하되
51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.51 From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who was put to death between the altar and the Temple. Yes, I say to you, It will come on this generation.51 곧 아벨의 피로부터 제단과 성전 사이에서 죽임을 당한 사가랴의 피까지 하리라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 과연 이 세대가 담당하리라
52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.52 A curse is on you, teachers of the law! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you did not go in yourselves, and you got in the way of those who were going in.52 화 있을찐저 너희 율법사여 너희가 지식의 열쇠를 가져가고 너희도 들어가지 않고 또 들어가고자 하는 자도 막았느니라 하시니라
53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:53 And when he had come out of that place, the scribes and the Pharisees came round him angrily, questioning him about more things;53 거기서 나오실 때에 서기관과 바리새인들이 맹렬히 달라붙어 여러가지 일로 힐문하고
54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.54 And watching him, for a chance to get something from his words which might be used against him.54 그 입에서 나오는 것을 잡고자 하여 목을 지키더라
