1 In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.1 In those days there was no king in Israel, and in those days the Danites were looking for a heritage for themselves, to be their living-place; for up to that time no distribution of land had been made to them among the tribes of Israel.1 그 때에 이스라엘에 왕이 없었고 단 지파는 이 때에 거할 기업의 땅을 구하는 중이었으니 이는 그들이 이스라엘 지파 중에서 이 때까지 기업의 땅 분배함을 얻지 못하였음이라
2 And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.2 So the children of Dan sent five men from among their number, strong men, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, to take a look at the land and make a search through it; and they said to them, Go and make a search through the land; and they came to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, where they made a stop for the night.2 단 자손이 소라와 에스다올에서부터 자기 온 가족중 용맹 있는 다섯 사람을 보내어 땅을 탐지하고 살피게 하며 그들에게 이르되 너희는 가서 땅을 살펴보라 하매 그들이 에브라임 산지에 가서 미가의 집에 이르러 거기서 유숙하니라
3 When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?3 When they were near the house of Micah, hearing a voice which was not strange to them, that of the young Levite, they went out of their road to his place, and said to him, How did you come here? and what are you doing in this place? and why are you here?3 그들이 미가의 집에 가까이 올 때에 레위 소년의 음성을 알아듣고 그리로 돌이켜 가서 그에게 이르되 누가 너를 이리로 인도하였으며 네가 여기서 무엇을 하며 여기서 무엇을 얻었느냐
4 And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest.4 And he said to them, This is what Micah did for me, and he gave me payment and I became his priest.4 그가 그들에게 이르되 미가가 여차여차히 나를 대접하여 나를 고빙하여 나로 자기 제사장을 삼았느니라
5 And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.5 Then they said, Do get directions from God for us, to see if the journey on which we are going will have a good outcome.5 그들이 그에게 이르되 청컨대 우리를 위하여 하나님께 물어보아서 우리의 행하는 길이 형통할는지 우리에게 알게하라
6 And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD is your way wherein ye go.6 And the priest said to them, Go in peace: your way is guided by the Lord.6 그 제사장이 그들에게 이르되 평안히 가라 너희의 행하는 길은 여호와 앞에 있느니라
7 Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate ㆍ in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.7 Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram.7 이에 다섯 사람이 떠나 라이스에 이르러 거기 있는 백성을 본즉 염려 없이 거하여 시돈 사람 같이 한가하고 평안하니 그 땅에는 권세 잡은 자가 없어서 무슨 일에든지 괴롭게 함이 없고 시돈 사람과 상거가 멀며 아무 사람과도 상종하지 아니함이라
8 And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye?8 So they came back to their brothers in Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brothers said to them, What news have you?8 그들이 소라와 에스다올에 돌아와서 그 형제에게 이르매 형제들이 그들에게 묻되 너희 보기에 어떠하더뇨
9 And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.9 And they said, Up! and let us go against Laish; for we have seen the land, and it is very good: why are you doing nothing? Do not be slow to go in and take the land for your heritage.9 가로되 일어나서 그들을 치러 올라가자 우리가 그 땅을 본즉 매우 좋더라 너희는 가만히 있느냐 나아가서 그 땅 얻기를 게을리 말라
10 When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.10 When you come there you will come to a people living without thought of danger; and the land is wide, and God has given it into your hands: a place where there is everything on earth for man's needs.10 너희가 가면 평안한 백성을 만날 것이요 그 땅은 넓고 그곳에는 세상에 있는 것이 하나도 부족함이 없느니라 하나님이 너희 손에 붙이셨느니라
11 And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.11 So six hundred men of the Danites from Zorah and Eshtaol went out armed with instruments of war.11 단 지파 가족 중 육백명이 병기를 띠고 소라와 에스다올에서 출발하여
12 And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjathjearim.12 And they went up and put up their tents in Kiriath-jearim in Judah: so that place is named Mahaneh-dan to this day. It is to the west of Kiriath-jearim.12 올라가서 유다 기럇여아림에 진치니 이러므로 그곳 이름이 오늘까지 마하네단이며 그곳은 기럇여아림 뒤에 있더라
13 And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.13 From there they went on to the hill-country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah.13 무리가 거기서 떠나서 에브라임 산지 미가의 집에 이르니라
14 Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.14 Then the five men who had gone to make a search through the country of Laish, said to their brothers, Have you knowledge that in these houses there is an ephod and family gods and a pictured image and a metal image? So now you see what to do.14 전에 라이스 땅을 탐지하러 갔던 다섯 사람이 그 형제들에게 말하여 가로되 이 집에 에봇과 드라빔과 새긴 신상과 부어만든 신상이 있는줄을 너희가 아느냐 그런즉 이제 너희는 마땅히 행할 것을 생각하라 하고
15 And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted ㆍ him.15 And turning from their road they came to the house of the young Levite, the house of Micah, and said to him, Is it well with you?15 다섯 사람이 그 편으로 향하여 소년 레위 사람의 집 곧 미가의 집에 이르러 문안하고
16 And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.16 And the six hundred armed men of the Danites took their places by the doorway.16 단 자손 육백명은 병기를 띠고 문 입구에 서니라
17 And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.17 Then the five men who had gone to make a search through the land, went in and took the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image; and the priest was by the doorway with the six hundred armed men.17 땅을 탐지하러 갔던 다섯 사람이 그리로 들어가서 새긴 신상과 에봇과 드라빔과 부어만든 신상을 취할 때에 제사장은 병기를 띤 육백명과 함께 문 입구에 섰더니
18 And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?18 And when they went into Micah's house and took out the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image, the priest said to them, What are you doing?18 그 다섯 사람이 미가의 집에 들어가서 그 새긴 신상과 에봇과 드라빔과 부어만든 신상을 취하여 내매 제사장이 그들에게 묻되 너희가 무엇을 하느냐
19 And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?19 And they said to him, Be quiet; say nothing, and come with us and be our father and priest; is it better for you to be priest to one man's house or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?19 그들이 그에게 이르되 잠잠하라 네 손을 입에 대라 우리와 함께 가서 우리의 아비와 제사장이 되라 네가 한 사람의 집의 제사장이 되는 것과 이스라엘 한 지파, 한 가족의 제사장이 되는 것이 어느 것이 낫겠느냐
20 And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.20 Then the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod and the family gods and the pictured image and went with the people.20 제사장이 마음에 기뻐하여 에봇과 드라빔과 새긴 우상을 취하고 그 백성 중으로 들어가니라
21 So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.21 So they went on their way again, putting the little ones and the oxen and the goods in front of them.21 그들이 돌이켜서 어린 아이들과 가축과 물품을 앞에 두고 진행하더니
22 And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.22 When they had gone some way from the house of Micah, the men from the houses near Micah's house came together and overtook the children of Dan,22 미가의 집을 멀리 떠난 때에 미가의 이웃집 사람들이 모여서 단 자손을 따라 미쳐서는
23 And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?23 Crying out to them. And the Danites, turning round, said to Micah, What is your trouble, that you have taken up arms?23 단 자손을 부르는지라 그들이 낯을 돌이켜 미가에게 이르되 네가 무슨 일로 이같이 모아가지고 왔느냐
24 And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?24 And he said, You have taken my gods which I made, and my priest, and have gone away; what is there for me now? Why then do you say to me, What is your trouble?24 미가가 가로되 나의 지은 신들과 제사장을 취하여 갔으니 내게 오히려 있는 것이 무엇이냐 너희가 어찌하여 나더러 무슨 일이냐 하느냐
25 And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry ㆍ fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.25 And the children of Dan said to him, Say no more, or men of bitter spirit may make an attack on you, causing loss of your life and the lives of your people.25 단 자손이 그에게 이르되 네 목소리를 우리에게 들리게 말라 노한 자들이 너희를 쳐서 네 생명과 네 가족의 생명을 잃게 할까 하노라 하고
26 And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.26 Then the children of Dan went on their way; and when Micah saw that they were stronger than he, he went back to his house.26 단 자손이 자기 길을 행한지라 미가가 단 자손이 자기보다 강한 것을 보고 돌이켜 집으로 돌아갔더라
27 And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.27 And they took that which Micah had made, and his priest, and came to Laish, to a people living quietly and without thought of danger, and they put them to the sword without mercy, burning down their town.27 단 자손이 미가의 지은 것과 그 제사장을 취하고 라이스에 이르러 한가하고 평안한 백성을 만나 칼날로 그들을 치며 불로 그 성읍을 사르되
28 And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.28 And they had no saviour, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with Aram; and it was in the valley which is the property of Beth-rehob. And building up the town again they took it for their living-place.28 그들을 구원할 자가 없었으니 그 성읍이 베드르홉 가까운 골짜기에 있어서 시돈과 상거가 멀고 상종하는 사람도 없음이었더라 단 자손이 성읍을 중건하고 거기 거하며
29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first.29 And they gave the town the name of Dan, after Dan their father, who was the son of Israel: though the town had been named Laish at first.29 이스라엘의 소생 그 조상 단의 이름을 따라 그 성읍을 단이라 하니라 그 성읍의 본 이름은 라이스더라
30 And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.30 (And the children of Dan put up the pictured image for themselves; and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, and his sons were priests for the tribe of the Danites till the day when the ark was taken prisoner.)30 단 자손이 자기를 위하여 그 새긴 신상을 세웠고 모세의 손자 게르손의 아들 요나단과 그 자손은 단 지파의 제사장이 되어 이 백성이 사로잡히는 날까지 이르렀더라
31 And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.31 And they put up for themselves the image which Micah had made, and it was there all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.31 하나님의 집이 실로에 있을 동안에 미가의 지은바 새긴 신상이 단 자손에게 있었더라
