2 So the children of Dan sent five men from among their number, strong men, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, to take a look at the land and make a search through it; and they said to them, Go and make a search through the land; and they came to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, where they made a stop for the night.

3 When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?[x]MKJV: When they [were] at the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite. And they turned in there, and said to him, Who brought you here? And what are you doing in this [place]? And what have you here? BBE: When they were near the house of Micah, hearing a voice which was not strange to them, that of the young Levite, they went out of their road to his place, and said to him, How did you come here? and what are you doing in this place? and why are you here? 3 When they were near the house of Micah, hearing a voice which was not strange to them, that of the young Levite, they went out of their road to his place, and said to him, How did you come here? and what are you doing in this place? and why are you here?

BBE: And he said to them, This is what Micah did for me, and he gave me payment and I became his priest. 7 Then the fivemendeparted, and came to Laish, and saw the people that weretherein, how they dweltcareless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrateㆍ in the land, that might put them to shame in anything; and they werefar from the Zidonians, and had no business with anyman.[x]MKJV: And the five men departed and came to Laish, and saw the people in it, how they lived carelessly, as the Sidonians do, quiet and secure. And there [was] no judge in the land who might put them to shame in a thing. And they were far from the Sidonians, and had no business with [any] man. BBE: Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram. 7 Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram.
7 이에 다섯 사람이 떠나 라이스에 이르러 거기 있는 백성을 본즉 염려 없이 거하여 시돈 사람 같이 한가하고 평안하니 그 땅에는 권세 잡은 자가 없어서 무슨 일에든지 괴롭게 함이 없고 시돈 사람과 상거가 멀며 아무 사람과도 상종하지 아니함이라
8 And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethrensaid unto them, What say ye?[x]MKJV: And they came to their brothers, to Zorah and Eshtaol. And their brothers said to them, What do you [say] ? BBE: So they came back to their brothers in Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brothers said to them, What news have you? 10 When ye go, ye shall come unto a peoplesecure, and to a largeland: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.[x]MKJV: When you go, you shall come to a people feeling safe, and to a large land. For God has given it into your hands, a place where [there is] no lack of anything in the earth. BBE: When you come there you will come to a people living without thought of danger; and the land is wide, and God has given it into your hands: a place where there is everything on earth for man's needs. 11 And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, sixhundredmenappointed with weapons of war.[x]MKJV: And six hundred men of the family of the Danites moved from there, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, girded with weapons of war. 12 And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that placeMahanehdan unto this day: behold, it isbehindKirjathjearim.[x]MKJV: And they went up and pitched in Kirjath-jearim, in Judah. Therefore, they called that place A Camp of Dan to this day. Behold, [it is] behind Kirjath-jearim. BBE: And they went up and put up their tents in Kiriath-jearim in Judah: so that place is named Mahaneh-dan to this day. It is to the west of Kiriath-jearim. 12 And they went up and put up their tents in Kiriath-jearim in Judah: so that place is named Mahaneh-dan to this day. It is to the west of Kiriath-jearim.

14 Then answered the fivemen that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.[x]MKJV: Then the five men who went to spy out the country of Laish answered and said to their brothers, Did you know that there is in these houses an ephod, and household gods, and an engraved image and a molten image? And now consider what you have to do. BBE: Then the five men who had gone to make a search through the country of Laish, said to their brothers, Have you knowledge that in these houses there is an ephod and family gods and a pictured image and a metal image? So now you see what to do. 18 And these went into Micah'shouse, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?[x]MKJV: And these went into Micah's house and brought out [the] carved image, the ephod, and the household gods, and the molten image. And the priest said to them, What are you doing? BBE: And when they went into Micah's house and took out the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image, the priest said to them, What are you doing? KAV: 이 사람들이 미가의 집에 들어가서 그 새긴 형상과 에봇과 드라빔과 부어 만든 형상을 가져오매 그때에 그의 제사장이 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 무엇을 하느냐? 하거늘
18 And when they went into Micah's house and took out the pictured image and the ephod and the family gods and the metal image, the priest said to them, What are you doing?

19 And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is itbetter for thee to be a priest unto the house of oneman, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?[x]MKJV: And they said to him, Be quiet, lay your hand on your mouth and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest. [Is it] better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or that you be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel? BBE: And they said to him, Be quiet; say nothing, and come with us and be our father and priest; is it better for you to be priest to one man's house or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel? 20 And the priest'sheart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.[x]MKJV: And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the household gods, and the carved image, and went in the midst of the people. 23 Crying out to them. And the Danites, turning round, said to Micah, What is your trouble, that you have taken up arms?
23 단 자손을 부르는지라 그들이 낯을 돌이켜 미가에게 이르되 네가 무슨 일로 이같이 모아가지고 왔느냐
24 And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?[x]MKJV: And he said, You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and you have gone away. And what more do I have? And what [is] this you say to me, What [ails] you? BBE: And he said, You have taken my gods which I made, and my priest, and have gone away; what is there for me now? Why then do you say to me, What is your trouble? 24 And he said, You have taken my gods which I made, and my priest, and have gone away; what is there for me now? Why then do you say to me, What is your trouble?
24 미가가 가로되 나의 지은 신들과 제사장을 취하여 갔으니 내게 오히려 있는 것이 무엇이냐 너희가 어찌하여 나더러 무슨 일이냐 하느냐
25 And the children of Dansaid unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angryㆍfellowsrun upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Dan said to him, Do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon you and you lose your life with the lives of your household. 28 And there was no deliverer, because it wasfar from Zidon, and they had no business with anyman; and it was in the valley that lieth by Bethrehob.
