1 Now when all the nation had come to the other side of Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua,

2 Take twelve men from the people, a man for every tribe,

3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priestsfeetstoodfirm, twelveㆍstones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.[x]MKJV: and command them saying, Take twelve stones from here, out of the middle of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm. And you shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the place where you shall stay tonight. BBE: And say to them, Take up from the middle of Jordan, from the place where the feet of the priests were resting, twelve stones, and take them over with you and put them down in the place where you take your rest tonight. 3 And say to them, Take up from the middle of Jordan, from the place where the feet of the priests were resting, twelve stones, and take them over with you and put them down in the place where you take your rest tonight.
3 그들에게 명하여 이르기를 요단 가운데 제사장들의 발이 굳게 선 그곳에서 돌 열 둘을 취하고 그것을 가져다가 오늘밤 너희의 유숙할 그곳에 두라 하라
4 Then Joshuacalled the twelveㆍmen, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of everytribe a man:[x]MKJV: Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared from the sons of Israel, a man out of every tribe. 4 So Joshua sent for the twelve men, whom he had ready, one man out of every tribe of the children of Israel,

5 And Joshuasaid unto them, Pass overbefore the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take you upeveryman of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:[x]MKJV: And Joshua said to them, Pass over in front of the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. 5 And he said to them, Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of Jordan, and let every one of you take up a stone on his back, one for every tribe of the children of Israel:

6 That this may be a signamong you, that when your childrenasktheir fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?[x]MKJV: so that this may be a sign to you when your sons ask in time to come, saying, What do you [mean] by these stones? BBE: So that this may be a sign among you; when your children say to you in time to come, What is the reason for these stones? 6 So that this may be a sign among you; when your children say to you in time to come, What is the reason for these stones?

7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut offbefore the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed overJordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israelforever.[x]MKJV: Then you shall answer them, The waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off, and these stones shall be for a memorial to the sons of Israel forever. BBE: Then you will say to them, Because the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the Lord's agreement; when it went over Jordan the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones will be a sign for the children of Israel, keeping it in their memory for ever. 7 Then you will say to them, Because the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the Lord's agreement; when it went over Jordan the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones will be a sign for the children of Israel, keeping it in their memory for ever.
7 그들에게 이르기를 요단 물이 여호와의 언약궤 앞에서 끊어졌었나니 곧 언약궤가 요단을 건널때에 요단 물이 끊어졌으므로 이 돌들이 이스라엘 자손에게 영영한 기념이 되리라 하라
8 And the children of Israeldid so as Joshuacommanded, and took uptwelveㆍstones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORDspake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel did as Joshua commanded. And they took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as the LORD spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and carried them over with them to the place where they stayed, and laid them down there; BBE: So the children of Israel did as Joshua gave them orders, and took twelve stones from the middle of Jordan, as the Lord had said to Joshua, one for every tribe of the children of Israel; these they took across with them to their night's resting-place and put them down there. 8 So the children of Israel did as Joshua gave them orders, and took twelve stones from the middle of Jordan, as the Lord had said to Joshua, one for every tribe of the children of Israel; these they took across with them to their night's resting-place and put them down there.
8 이스라엘 자손들이 여호수아의 명한대로 행하되 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르신대로 이스라엘 자손들의 지파 수를 따라 요단 가운데서 돌 열 둘을 취하여 자기들의 유숙할 곳으로 가져다가 거기 두었더라
9 And Joshua set uptwelveㆍstones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenantstood: and they are there unto this day.[x]MKJV: even the twelve stones Joshua lifted up in the middle of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who carried the ark of the covenant, stood. And they are there to this day. 9 여호수아가 또 요단 가운데 곧 언약궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 선 곳에 돌 열 둘을 세웠더니 오늘까지 거기 있더라
10 For the priests which bare the arkstood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORDcommandedJoshua to speak unto the people, according to all that MosescommandedJoshua: and the peoplehasted and passed over.[x]MKJV: For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was finished, all that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua. And the people hurried and passed over. BBE: For the priests who took up the ark kept there in the middle of Jordan till all the orders given to Joshua by Moses from the Lord had been done: then the people went over quickly. 10 For the priests who took up the ark kept there in the middle of Jordan till all the orders given to Joshua by Moses from the Lord had been done: then the people went over quickly.
10 궤를 멘 제사장들이 여호와께서 여호수아에게 명하사 백성에게 이르게 하신 일 곧 모세가 여호수아에게 명한 일이 다 마치기까지 요단 가운데 섰고 백성은 속히 건넜으며
11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.[x]MKJV: And it happened, when all the people had finished passing over, the ark of the LORD and the priests passed over before the people. BBE: And when all the people had come to the other side, the ark of the Lord went over, and the priests, before the eyes of the people. 11 And when all the people had come to the other side, the ark of the Lord went over, and the priests, before the eyes of the people.

12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed overarmedbefore the children of Israel, as Mosesspake unto them:[x]MKJV: And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed in front of the sons of Israel, as Moses spoke to them; BBE: And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh went over armed before the children of Israel as Moses had said to them: KAV: 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파는 모세가 그들에게 이른 것 같이 무장하고 이스라엘 자손보다 앞서 건너가되 TSK: the children: jos 1:14, nu 32:20-32
12 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh went over armed before the children of Israel as Moses had said to them:

13 About fortythousandprepared for war passed overbefore the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.[x]MKJV: about forty thousand armed men of the army passed over before the LORD to battle, to the plains of Jericho. BBE: About forty thousand armed for war went over before the Lord to the fight, to the lowlands of Jericho. KAV: 사만 명가량이 전쟁을 하려고 예비한 채 {주} 앞에서 건너가 싸우려고 여리고 평야에 이르니라. 13 About forty thousand armed for war went over before the Lord to the fight, to the lowlands of Jericho.
13 사만명 가량이라 무장하고 여호와 앞에서 건너가서 싸우려고 여리고 평지에 이르니라
14 On that day the LORDmagnifiedJoshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they fearedMoses, all the days of his life.[x]MKJV: On that day the LORD made Joshua great in the sight of all Israel. And they feared him, even as they feared Moses, all the days of his life. BBE: That day the Lord made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel; and all the days of his life they went in fear of him, as they had gone in fear of Moses. 14 That day the Lord made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel; and all the days of his life they went in fear of him, as they had gone in fear of Moses.
14 그 날에 여호와께서 모든 이스라엘의 목전에서 여호수아를 크게 하시매 그의 생존한 날 동안에 백성이 두려워하기를 모세를 두려워하던것 같이 하였더라
15 And the LORDspake unto Joshua, saying,[x]MKJV: And the LORD spoke to Joshua, saying, BBE: Then the Lord said to Joshua, KAV: {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되,
15 Then the Lord said to Joshua,

16Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.[x]MKJV: Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan. BBE: Give orders to the priests who take up the ark of witness, to come up out of Jordan. KAV: 증언 궤를 메는 제사장들에게 명령하여 그들이 요르단에서 올라오게 하라, 하시니라. 18 And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priestsfeet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordanreturned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, asthey didbefore.[x]MKJV: And it happened, when the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD had come up out of the midst of the Jordan, the soles of the feet of the priests were lifted up to the dry land, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and flowed over all its banks, as before. BBE: And when the priests who took up the ark of the Lord's agreement came up out of Jordan and their feet came out on to dry land, the waters of Jordan went back to their place, overflowing its edges as before. 18 And when the priests who took up the ark of the Lord's agreement came up out of Jordan and their feet came out on to dry land, the waters of Jordan went back to their place, overflowing its edges as before.
18 여호와의 언약궤를 멘 제사장들이 요단 가운데서 나오며 그 발바닥으로 육지를 밟는 동시에 요단 물이 본 곳으로 도로 흘러 여전히 언덕에 넘쳤더라
19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenthday of the firstmonth, and encamped in Gilgal, in the eastborder of Jericho.[x]MKJV: And the people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and camped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho. BBE: So on the tenth day of the first month the people came up out of Jordan, and put up their tents in Gilgal, on the east side of Jericho. 21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?[x]MKJV: And he spoke to the sons of Israel saying, When your sons shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones [mean] ? BBE: And he said to the children of Israel, When your children say to their fathers in time to come, What is the reason for these stones? 21 And he said to the children of Israel, When your children say to their fathers in time to come, What is the reason for these stones?

22 Then ye shall let your childrenknow, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.[x]MKJV: Then you shall let your sons know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. BBE: Then give your children the story, and say, Israel came over this river Jordan on dry land. KAV: 너희는 너희 자손들에게 알려 주며 이르기를, 이스라엘이 마른 땅을 밟고 이 요르단을 지나갔느니라. 23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your Goddid to the Redsea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:[x]MKJV: For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you until you had passed over, even as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea which He dried up from before us until we had gone over; BBE: For the Lord your God made the waters of Jordan dry before you till you had gone across, as he did to the Red Sea, drying it up before us till we had gone across: KAV: {주} 너희 [하나님]께서 우리가 지나갈 때까지 홍해를 우리 앞에서 마르게 하신 것 같이 {주} 너희 [하나님]께서 너희가 건널 때까지 요르단의 물들을 너희 앞에서 마르게 하셨나니 TSK: which he dried: ex 14:21, ne 9:11, ps 77:16-19, ps 78:13, isa 43:16, isa 63:12-14
23 For the Lord your God made the waters of Jordan dry before you till you had gone across, as he did to the Red Sea, drying it up before us till we had gone across:
23 너희 하나님 여호와께서 요단 물을 너희 앞에 마르게 하사 너희로 건너게 하신 것이 너희 하나님 여호와께서 우리 앞에 홍해를 말리시고 우리로 건너게 하심과 같았나니
24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it ismighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.[x]MKJV: so that all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, [is] mighty and so that you might fear the LORD your God forever. BBE: So that all the peoples of the earth may see that the hand of the Lord is strong; and that they may go in fear of the Lord your God for ever. KAV: 이것은 {주}의 손이 강력함을 땅의 모든 백성들이 알게 하려 하심이며 또한 너희가 {주} 너희 [하나님]을 영원토록 두려워하게 하려 하심이라, 하라, 하니라.
