4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousandcubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passedthiswayheretofore.[x]MKJV: Yet keep a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, so that you may know the way by which you must go. For you have not passed [this] way before now. BBE: But let there be a space between you and it of about two thousand cubits: come no nearer to it, so that you may see the way you have to go, for you have not been over this way before. 6 Then Joshua said to the priests, Take up the ark of the agreement and go over in front of the people. So they took up the ark of the agreement and went in front of the people.

7 And the LORDsaid unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to Joshua, Today, I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel so that they may know that I will be with you, as I was with Moses. BBE: And the Lord said to Joshua, From now on I will give you glory in the eyes of all Israel, so that they may see that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. 10 또 말하되 사시는 하나님이 너희 가운데 계시사 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 히위 족속과 브리스 족속과 기르가스 족속과 아모리 족속과 여부스 족속을 너희 앞에서 정녕히 쫓아내실 줄을 이 일로 너희가 알리라
11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the LORD of all the earth passeth overbefore you into Jordan.[x]MKJV: Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into Jordan. 13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut offfrom the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon anheap.[x]MKJV: And it shall be, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that carry the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, the waters of Jordan shall be cut off [from] the waters that come down from above. And they shall stand all in a heap. BBE: And when the feet of the priests who take up the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, come to rest in the waters of Jordan, the waters of Jordan will be cut off, all the waters flowing down from higher up, and will come together in a mass. 13 온 땅의 주 여호와의 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발바닥이 요단 물을 밟고 멈추면 요단 물 곧 위에서부터 흘러 내리던 물이 끊어지고 쌓여 서리라
14 And it came to pass, when the peopleremoved from their tents, to pass overJordan, and the priestsbearing the ark of the covenantbefore the people;[x]MKJV: And it happened, when the people moved from their tents to pass over Jordan, and as the priests carried the ark of the covenant before the people, BBE: So when the people went out from their tents to go over Jordan, the priests who took up the ark of the agreement were in front of the people; KAV: ¶ 백성이 요르단을 건너려고 자기들의 장막에서 떠날 때에 제사장들은 백성 앞에서 언약 궤를 메니라. 15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordanoverfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)[x]MKJV: and as those who bore the ark had come to Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bore the ark were dipped in the edge of the water (for Jordan overflows all its banks, all the time of harvest); BBE: And when those who took up the ark came to Jordan, and the feet of the priests who took up the ark were touching the edge of the water (for the waters of Jordan are overflowing all through the time of the grain-cutting), KAV: (요르단이 수확할 때에 항상 그것의 모든 둑에서 넘치므로) 궤를 멘 자들이 요르단에 이르매 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 물가에서 잠기니라. 16 That the waters which came down from abovestoodand rose up upon anheapveryfar from the cityAdam, that isbesideZaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the saltsea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.[x]MKJV: that the waters which came down from above stopped [and] rose up all in a heap, very far from the city Adam that [is] beside Zaretan. And those that came down toward the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over across from Jericho. BBE: Then the waters flowing down from higher up were stopped and came together in a mass a long way back at Adam, a town near Zarethan; and the waters flowing down to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were cut off: and the people went across opposite Jericho. 16 곧 위에서부터 흘러 내리던 물이 그쳐서 심히 멀리 사르단에 가까운 아담 읍 변방에 일어나 쌓이고 아라바의 바다 염해로 향하여 흘러가는 물은 온전히 끊어지매 백성이 여리고 앞으로 바로 건널쌔
17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORDstoodfirm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passedcleanoverJordan.[x]MKJV: And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of Jordan. And all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people had passed completely over Jordan. BBE: And the priests who took up the ark of the agreement of the Lord kept their places, with their feet on dry land in the middle of Jordan, while all Israel went over on dry land, till all the nation had gone over Jordan. 17 여호와의 언약궤를 멘 제사장들은 요단 가운데 마른 땅에 굳게 섰고 온 이스라엘 백성은 마른 땅으로 행하여 요단을 건너니라
