1 And the Lord said to Joshua,
1 여호와께서 여호수아에게 일러 가라사대
2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:[x]MKJV: Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Appoint cities of refuge for you, as I have spoken to you by the hand of Moses; BBE: Say to the children of Israel, Let certain towns be marked out as safe places, as I said to you by the mouth of Moses, KAV: 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르라. 내가 모세의 손으로 너희에게 말한 도피 도시들을 너희를 위해 지정하여 TSK: Appoint: ex 21:13,14, nu 35:6,11-14, de 4:41-43, de 19:2-13, ro 8:1,33,34, heb 6:18,19; your refuge: nu 35:15-24
2 Say to the children of Israel, Let certain towns be marked out as safe places, as I said to you by the mouth of Moses,
2 이스라엘 자손에게 고하여 이르라 내가 모세로 너희에게 말한 도피성을 택정하여
3 That the slayer that killethanypersonunawaresandunwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.[x]MKJV: that the manslayer who in innocence strikes [anyone] mortally, without knowing, may flee there. And they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. BBE: So that any man who in error and without design has taken the life of another, may go in flight to them: and they will be safe places for you from him who has the right of punishment for blood. KAV: 알지 못하고 자기도 모르게 사람을 죽인 자가 거기로 도망하게 하라. 그 도피 도시들은 피의 원수를 갚는 자로부터 너희를 지켜 줄 피난처니라.
3 So that any man who in error and without design has taken the life of another, may go in flight to them: and they will be safe places for you from him who has the right of punishment for blood.
3 부지중 오살한 자를 그리로 도망하게 하라 이는 너희 중 피의 보수자를 피할 곳이니라
4 And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.[x]MKJV: And he shall flee to one of those cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city. And they shall take him into the city to themselves and make him a place, and he shall live with them. BBE: And if anyone goes in flight to one of those towns, and comes into the public place of the town, and puts his cause before the responsible men of the town, they will take him into the town and give him a place among them where he may be safe. KAV: 그 도시들 가운데 하나로 도망하는 자는 그 도시에 들어가는 문어귀에 서서 그 도시 장로들의 귀에 자기 사정을 밝히 말할 것이요, 그들은 도시 안으로 자기들에게로 그를 받아들이고 그에게 처소를 주어 그가 자기들 가운데 거하게 하고 TSK: at the entering: ru 4:1,2, job 5:4, job 29:7, pr 31:23, jer 38:7; take: ps 26:9; that he may: heb 6:18
4 And if anyone goes in flight to one of those towns, and comes into the public place of the town, and puts his cause before the responsible men of the town, they will take him into the town and give him a place among them where he may be safe.
4 그 성읍들의 하나에 도피하는 자는 그 성읍에 들어가는 문 어귀에 서서 그 성읍 장로들의 귀에 자기의 사고를 고할 것이요 그들은 그를 받아 성읍에 들여 한 곳을 주어 자기들 중에 거하게 하고
5 And if the avenger of bloodpursueafter him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbourunwittinglyㆍ, and hated him not beforetime.[x]MKJV: And if the avenger of blood pursues him, then they shall not deliver the manslayer into his hand, for he has struck his neighbor without knowing, and did not hate him in past time. BBE: And if the one who has the right of punishment comes after him, they are not to give the taker of life up to him; because he was the cause of his neighbour's death without designing it and not in hate. KAV: 피의 원수를 갚는 자가 그를 추격한다 할지라도 그 살인자를 그의 손에 넘겨주지 말지니 이는 그가 전에 자기 이웃을 미워하지 아니하다가 자기도 모르게 자기 이웃을 쳤기 때문이라. TSK: And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.: nu 35:12,25
5 And if the one who has the right of punishment comes after him, they are not to give the taker of life up to him; because he was the cause of his neighbour's death without designing it and not in hate.
5 피의 보수자가 그 뒤를 따라온다 할찌라도 그들은 그 살인자를 그의 손에 내어주지 말찌니 이는 본래 미워함이 없이 부지중에 그 이웃을 죽였음이라
6 And he shall dwell in that city, until he standbefore the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the highpriestthat shall be in those days: then shall the slayerreturn, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.[x]MKJV: And he shall live in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest who is in those days. Then the manslayer shall return and come to his city, and to his house, to the city from where he fled. BBE: And he is to go on living in that town till he has to come before the meeting of the people to be judged; (till the death of him who is high priest at that time:) then the taker of life may come back to his town and to his house, to the town from which he had gone in flight. KAV: 그 살인자는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받기까지나 혹은 그 당시의 대제사장이 죽기까지 그 도시에 거하다가 그 뒤에 자기의 본 도시 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 그 도시에 있는 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라. TSK: until: nu 35:12,24,25, heb 9:26
6 And he is to go on living in that town till he has to come before the meeting of the people to be judged; (till the death of him who is high priest at that time:) then the taker of life may come back to his town and to his house, to the town from which he had gone in flight.
6 그 살인자가 회중의 앞에 서서 재판을 받기까지나 당시 대제사장의 죽기까지 그 성읍에 거하다가 그 후에 그 살인자가 본 성읍 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 그 성읍의 자기 집으로 돌아갈찌니라
7 And they appointedKedesh in Galilee in mountNaphtali, and Shechem in mountEphraim, and Kirjatharba, which isHebron, in the mountain of Judah.[x]MKJV: And they set apart Kadesh in Galilee, in the hills of Naphtali; and Shechem in the hills of Ephraim; and Kirjath-arba (it [is] Hebron) in the hills of Judah. BBE: So they made selection of Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah. 7 So they made selection of Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah.
7 무리가 납달리의 산지 갈릴리 게데스와 에브라임 산지의 세겜과 유다 산지의 기럇 아르바 곧 헤브론을 구별하였고
8 And on the other sideJordan by Jerichoeastward, they assignedBezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.[x]MKJV: And beyond the Jordan, [at] Jericho eastward, they gave Bezer in the wilderness, on the tableland out of the tribe of Reuben; and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad; and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh. BBE: And on the east side of Jordan at Jericho, they made selection of Bezer in the waste land, in the table-land, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh. 8 And on the east side of Jordan at Jericho, they made selection of Bezer in the waste land, in the table-land, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
8 또 여리고 동 요단 저편 르우벤 지파 중에서 평지 광야의 베셀과 갓 지파 중에서 길르앗라못과 므낫세 지파 중에서 바산 골란을 택하였으니
9 These were the citiesappointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojournethamong them, that whosoever killethanyperson at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stoodbefore the congregation.[x]MKJV: These were the appointed cities for all the sons of Israel, and for the alien who was living in their midst, that he who had killed [anyone] without knowing might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. BBE: These were the towns marked out for all the children of Israel and for the man from a strange country living among them, so that anyone causing the death of another in error, might go in flight there, and not be put to death by him who has the right of punishment for blood till he had come before the meeting of the people. KAV: 이 도시들은 온 이스라엘 자손과 그들 가운데 머무는 타국인을 위하여 지정한 도시들이었으니 이것은 누구든지 알지 못하고 어떤 사람을 죽였을 때에 거기로 도망하여 회중 앞에 설 때까지 피의 원수를 갚는 자의 손에 죽지 아니하게 하려 함이었더라. TSK: the cities: nu 35:15; until he stood: jos 20:4,6
9 These were the towns marked out for all the children of Israel and for the man from a strange country living among them, so that anyone causing the death of another in error, might go in flight there, and not be put to death by him who has the right of punishment for blood till he had come before the meeting of the people.
9 이는 곧 이스라엘 모든 자손과 그들 중에 우거하는 객을 위하여 선정한 성읍들로서 누구든지 부지중 살인한 자로 그리로 도망하여 피의 보수자의 손에 죽지 않게 하기 위함이며 그는 회중 앞에 설 때까지 거기 있을것이니라
