3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,3 Now the scribes and Pharisees came, with a woman who had been taken in the act of sinning against the married relation;3 서기관들과 바리새인들이 간음 중에 잡힌 여자를 끌고 와서 가운데 세우고
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.4 And putting her forward, they said to him, Master, this woman has been taken in the very act of sinning against the married relation.4 예수께 말하되 선생이여 이 여자가 간음하다가 현장에서 잡혔나이다
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?5 Now in the law Moses gave directions that such women were to be stoned; what do you say about it?5 모세는 율법에 이러한 여자를 돌로 치라 명하였거니와 선생은 어떻게 말하겠나이까
6 ㆍ This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.6 They said this, testing him, so that they might have something against him. But Jesus, with his head bent down, made letters on the floor with his finger.6 저희가 이렇게 말함은 고소할 조건을 얻고자하여 예수를 시험함이러라 예수께서 몸을 굽히사 손가락으로 땅에 쓰시니
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.7 But when they went on with their questions, he got up and said to them, Let him among you who is without sin be the first to send a stone at her.7 저희가 묻기를 마지 아니하는지라 이에 일어나 가라사대 너희 중에 죄 없는 자가 먼저 돌로 치라 하시고
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.8 And again, with bent head, he made letters on the floor.8 다시 몸을 굽히사 손가락으로 땅에 쓰시니
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.9 And when his words came to their ears, they went out one by one, starting with the oldest even to the last, because they were conscious of what was in their hearts: and Jesus was there by himself with the woman before him.9 저희가 이 말씀을 듣고 양심의 가책을 받아 어른으로 시작하여 젊은이까지 하나씩 하나씩 나가고 오직 예수와 그 가운데 섰는 여자만 남았더라
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?10 Then Jesus got up, and seeing nobody but the woman, he said to her, Where are the men who said things against you? did no one give a decision against you?10 예수께서 일어나사 여자 외에 아무도 없는 것을 보시고 이르시되 여자여 너를 고소하던 그들이 어디 있느냐 너를 정죄한 자가 없느냐
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, And I do not give a decision against you: go, and never do wrong again.]11 대답하되 주여 없나이다 예수께서 가라사대 나도 너를 정죄하지 아니하노니 가서 다시는 죄를 범치 말라 하시니라]
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.12 Then again Jesus said to them, I am the light of the world; he who comes with me will not be walking in the dark but will have the light of life.12 예수께서 또 일러 가라사대 나는 세상의 빛이니 나를 따르는 자는 어두움에 다니지 아니하고 생명의 빛을 얻으리라
13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.13 So the Pharisees said to him, The witness you give is about yourself: your witness is not true.13 바리새인들이 가로되 네가 너를 위하여 증거하니 네 증거는 참되지 아니하도다
14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.14 Jesus said in answer, Even if I give witness about myself, my witness is true, because I have knowledge of where I came from and where I am going; but you have no knowledge of where I come from or of where I am going.14 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 내가 나를 위하여 증거하여도 내 증거가 참되니 나는 내가 어디서 오며 어디로 가는 것을 앎이어니와 너희는 내가 어디서 오며 어디로 가는 것을 알지 못하느니라
15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.15 You are judging from what you see; I am judging no man.15 너희는 육체를 따라 판단하나 나는 아무도 판단치 아니하노라
16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.16 Even if I am judging, my decision is right, because I am not by myself--with me is the Father who sent me.16 만일 내가 판단하여도 내 판단이 참되니 이는 내가 혼자 있는 것이 아니요 나를 보내신 이가 나와 함께 계심이라
17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.17 Even in your law it is said that the witness of two men is true.17 너희 율법에도 두 사람의 증거가 참되다 기록하였으니
18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.18 I give witness about myself and the Father who sent me gives witness about me.18 내가 나를 위하여 증거하는 자가 되고 나를 보내신 아버지도 나를 위하여 증거하시느니라
19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me ㆍ, ye should have known my Father also.19 Then they said to him, Where is your Father? Jesus said in answer, You have no knowledge of me or of my Father: if you had knowledge of me you would have knowledge of my Father.19 이에 저희가 묻되 네 아버지가 어디 있느냐 예수께서 대답하시되 너희는 나를 알지 못하고 내 아버지도 알지 못하는도다 나를 알았더면 내 아버지도 알았으리라
20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.20 Jesus said these words in the place where the offerings were stored, while he was teaching in the Temple: but no man took him because his time was still to come.20 이 말씀은 성전에서 가르치실 때에 연보 궤 앞에서 하셨으나 잡는 사람이 없으니 이는 그의 때가 아직 이르지 아니하였음이러라
21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot ㆍ come.21 Then he said to them again, I am going away and you will be looking for me, but death will overtake you in your sins. It is not possible for you to come where I am going.21 다시 이르시되 내가 가리니 너희가 나를 찾다가 너희 죄 가운데서 죽겠고 나의 가는 곳에는 너희가 오지 못하리라
22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill ㆍ himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot ㆍ come.22 So the Jews said, Will he take his life? Is that why he says, Where I go it is not possible for you to come?22 유대인들이 가로되 저가 나의 가는 곳에는 너희가 오지 못하리라 하니 저가 자결하려는가
23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.23 And he said to them, You are of the earth; I am from heaven: you are of this world; I am not of this world.23 예수께서 가라사대 너희는 아래서 났고 나는 위에서 났으며 너희는 이 세상에 속하였고 나는 이 세상에 속하지 아니하였느니라
24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.24 For this reason I said to you that death will overtake you in your sins: for if you have not faith that I am he, death will come to you while you are in your sins.24 이러므로 내가 너희에게 말하기를 너희가 너희 죄 가운데서 죽으리라 하였노라 너희가 만일 내가 그인줄 믿지 아니하면 너희 죄 가운데서 죽으리라
25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.25 Then they said to him, Who are you? Jesus said, What I said to you from the first.25 저희가 말하되 네가 누구냐 예수께서 가라사대 나는 처음부터 너희에게 말하여 온 자니라
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.26 I have much to say about you and against you: but he who sent me is true and what he has said to me I say to the world.26 내가 너희를 대하여 말하고 판단할 것이 많으나 나를 보내신 이가 참되시매 내가 그에게 들은 그것을 세상에게 말하노라 하시되
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.27 They did not see that his words were about the Father.27 저희는 아버지를 가리켜 말씀하신 줄을 깨닫지 못하더라
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.28 So Jesus said, When the Son of man has been lifted up by you, then it will be clear to you who I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but say as the Father gave me teaching.28 이에 예수께서 가라사대 너희는 인자를 든 후에 내가 그인 줄을 알고 또 내가 스스로 아무 것도 하지 아니하고 오직 아버지께서 가르치신대로 이런 것을 말하는 줄도 알리라
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.29 He who sent me is with me; he has not gone from me, because at all times I do the things which are pleasing to him.29 나를 보내신 이가 나와 함께 하시도다 내가 항상 그의 기뻐하시는 일을 행하므로 나를 혼자 두지 아니하셨느니라
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.30 When he said this a number came to have faith in him.30 이 말씀을 하시매 많은 사람이 믿더라
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had faith in him, If you keep my word, then you are truly my disciples;31 그러므로 예수께서 자기를 믿은 유대인들에게 이르시되 너희가 내 말에 거하면 참 내 제자가 되고
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.32 And you will have knowledge of what is true, and that will make you free.32 진리를 알찌니 진리가 너희를 자유케 하리라
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou ㆍ, Ye shall be made free?33 They said to him in answer, We are Abraham's seed and have never been any man's servant: why do you say, You will become free?33 저희가 대답하되 우리가 아브라함의 자손이라 남의 종이 된 적이 없거늘 어찌하여 우리가 자유케 되리라 하느냐
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you ㆍ, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.34 And this was the answer Jesus gave them: Truly I say to you, Everyone who does evil is the servant of sin.34 예수께서 대답하시되 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 죄를 범하는 자마다 죄의 종이라
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ㆍ ever.35 Now the servant does not go on living in the house for ever, but the son does.35 종은 영원히 집에 거하지 못하되 아들은 영원히 거하나니
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.36 If then the son makes you free, you will be truly free.36 그러므로 아들이 너희를 자유케 하면 너희가 참으로 자유하리라
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.37 I am conscious that you are Abraham's seed; but you have a desire to put me to death because my word has no place in you.37 나도 너희가 아브라함의 자손인줄 아노라 그러나 내 말이 너희 속에 있을 곳이 없으므로 나를 죽이려 하는도다
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.38 I say the things which I have seen in my Father's house: and you do the things which come to you from your father's house.38 나는 내 아버지에게서 본 것을 말하고 너희는 너희 아비에게서 들은 것을 행하느니라
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do ㆍ the works of Abraham.39 In answer they said to him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children you would do what Abraham did.39 대답하여 가로되 우리 아버지는 아브라함이라 하니 예수께서 가라사대 너희가 아브라함의 자손이면 아브라함의 행사를 할것이어늘
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.40 But now you have a desire to put me to death, a man who has said to you what is true, as I had it from God: Abraham did not do that.40 지금 하나님께 들은 진리를 너희에게 말한 사람인 나를 죽이려 하는도다 아브라함은 이렇게 하지 아니하였느니라
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.41 You are doing the works of your father. They said to him, We are true sons of Abraham; we have one Father, who is God.41 너희는 너희 아비의 행사를 하는도다 대답하되 우리가 음란한데서 나지 아니하였고 아버지는 한분 뿐이시니 곧 하나님이시로다
42 Jesus ㆍ said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.42 Jesus said to them, If God was your Father you would have love for me, because it was from God I came and am here. I did not come of myself, but he sent me.42 예수께서 가라사대 하나님이 너희 아버지였으면 너희가 나를 사랑하였으리니 이는 내가 하나님께로 나서 왔음이라 나는 스스로 온 것이 아니요 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것이니라
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot ㆍ hear my word.43 Why are my words not clear to you? It is because your ears are shut to my teaching.43 어찌하여 내 말을 깨닫지 못하느냐 이는 내 말을 들을줄 알지 못함이로다
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.44 You are the children of your father the Evil One and it is your pleasure to do his desires. From the first he was a taker of life; and he did not go in the true way because there is no true thing in him. When he says what is false, it is natural to him, for he is false and the father of what is false.44 너희는 너희 아비 마귀에게서 났으니 너희 아비의 욕심을 너희도 행하고자 하느니라 저는 처음부터 살인한 자요 진리가 그 속에 없으므로 진리에 서지 못하고 거짓을 말할 때마다 제 것으로 말하나니 이는 저가 거짓말장이요 거짓의 아비가 되었음이니라
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.45 But because I say what is true, you have no belief in me.45 내가 진리를 말하므로 너희가 나를 믿지 아니하는도다
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?46 Which of you is able truly to say that I am a sinner? If I say what is true, why have you no belief in me?46 너희 중에 누가 나를 죄로 책잡겠느냐 내가 진리를 말하매 어찌하여 나를 믿지 아니하느냐
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore ㆍ hear them not, because ye are not of God.47 He who is a child of God gives ear to the words of God: your ears are not open to them because you are not from God.47 하나님께 속한 자는 하나님의 말씀을 듣나니 너희가 듣지 아니함은 하나님께 속하지 아니하였음이로다
48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?48 The Jews said to him in answer, Are we not right in saying that you are of Samaria and have an evil spirit?48 유대인들이 대답하여 가로되 우리가 너를 사마리아 사람이라 또는 귀신이 들렸다 하는 말이 옳지 아니하냐
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.49 And this was the answer of Jesus: I have not an evil spirit; but I give honour to my Father and you do not give honour to me.49 예수께서 대답하시되 나는 귀신 들린 것이 아니라 오직 내 아버지를 공경함이어늘 너희가 나를 무시하는도다
50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.50 I, however, am not in search of glory for myself: there is One who is searching for it and he is judge.50 나는 내 영광을 구치 아니하나 구하고 판단하시는 이가 계시니라
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never ㆍ ㆍ see death.51 Truly I say to you, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.51 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 사람이 내 말을 지키면 죽음을 영원히 보지 아니하리라
52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never ㆍ ㆍ taste of death.52 The Jews said to him, Now we are certain that you have an evil spirit. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead; and you say, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.52 유대인들이 가로되 지금 네가 귀신 들린 줄을 아노라 아브라함과 선지자들도 죽었거늘 네 말은 사람이 내 말을 지키면 죽음을 영원히 맛보지 아니하리라 하니
53 Art ㆍ thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: who do you say that you are?53 너는 이미 죽은 우리 조상 아브라함보다 크냐 또 선지자들도 죽었거늘 너는 너를 누구라 하느냐
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:54 Jesus said in answer, If I take glory for myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who gives me glory, of whom you say that he is your God.54 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 내게 영광을 돌리면 내 영광이 아무 것도 아니어니와 내게 영광을 돌리시는 이는 내 아버지시니 곧 너희가 너희 하나님이라 칭하는 그이시라
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say ㆍ, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.55 You have no knowledge of him, but I have knowledge of him; and if I said I have no knowledge of him I would be talking falsely like you: but I have full knowledge of him, and I keep his word.55 너희는 그를 알지 못하되 나는 아노니 만일 내가 알지 못한다 하면 나도 너희 같이 거짓말장이가 되리라 나는 그를 알고 또 그의 말씀을 지키노라
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.56 Your father Abraham was full of joy at the hope of seeing my day: he saw it and was glad.56 너희 조상 아브라함은 나의 때 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?57 Then the Jews said to him, You are not fifty years old; have you seen Abraham?57 유대인들이 가로되 네가 아직 오십도 못되었는데 아브라함을 보았느냐
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.58 Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into being, I am.58 예수께서 가라사대 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 아브라함이 나기 전부터 내가 있느니라 하시니
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.59 So they took up stones to send at him: but Jesus got secretly out of their way and went out of the Temple.59 저희가 돌을 들어 치려하거늘 예수께서 숨어 성전에서 나가시니라
