Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.1 And now, O Job, give ear to my words, and take note of all I say.1
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.2 See, now my mouth is open, my tongue gives out words.2
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.3 My heart is overflowing with knowledge, my lips say what is true.3 내 말이 내 마음의 정직함을 나타내고 내 입술이 아는바를 진실히 말하리라
The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.4 The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Ruler of all gives me life.4 하나님의 신이 나를 지으셨고 전능자의 기운이 나를 살리시느니라
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.5 If you are able, give me an answer; put your cause in order, and come forward.5
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.6 See, I am the same as you are in the eyes of God; I was cut off from the same bit of wet earth.6 나와 네가 하나님 앞에서 일반이니 나도 흙으로 지으심을 입었은즉
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.7 Fear of me will not overcome you, and my hand will not be hard on you.7 내 위엄으로는 너를 두렵게 하지 못하고 내 권세로는 너를 누르지 못하느니라
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,8 But you said in my hearing, and your voice came to my ears:8
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.9 I am clean, without sin; I am washed, and there is no evil in me:9 나는 깨끗하여 죄가 없고 허물이 없으며 불의도 없거늘
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,10 See, he is looking for something against me; in his eyes I am as one of his haters;10
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.11 He puts chains on my feet; he is watching all my ways.11
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.12 Truly, in saying this you are wrong; for God is greater than man.12 내가 네게 대답하리라 이 말에 네가 의롭지 못하니 하나님은 사람보다 크심이니라
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.13 Why do you put forward your cause against him, saying, He gives no answer to any of my words?13 하나님은 모든 행하시는 것을 스스로 진술치 아니하시나니 네가 하나님과 변쟁함은 어찜이뇨
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.14 For God gives his word in one way, even in two, and man is not conscious of it:14 사람은 무관히 여겨도 하나님은 한번 말씀하시고 다시 말씀하시되
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep comes on men, while they take their rest on their beds;15 사람이 침상에서 졸며 깊이 잠들 때에나 꿈에나 밤의 이상 중에
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,16 Then he makes his secrets clear to men, so that they are full of fear at what they see;16 사람의 귀를 여시고 인치듯 교훈하시나니
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.17 In order that man may be turned from his evil works, and that pride may be taken away from him;17 이는 사람으로 그 꾀를 버리게 하려 하심이며 사람에게 교만을 막으려 하심이라
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.18 To keep back his soul from the underworld, and his life from destruction.18 그는 사람의 혼으로 구덩이에 빠지지 않게 하시며 그 생명으로 칼에 멸망치 않게 하시느니라
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:19 Pain is sent on him as a punishment, while he is on his bed; there is no end to the trouble in his bones;19 혹시는 사람이 병상의 고통과 뼈가 늘 쑤심의 징계를 받나니
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.20 He has no desire for food, and his soul is turned away from delicate meat;20
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.21 His flesh is so wasted away, that it may not be seen, and his bones.
Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.22 And his soul comes near to the underworld, and his life to the angels of death.22
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show unto man his uprightness:23 If now there may be an angel sent to him, one of the thousands which there are to be between him and God, and to make clear to man what is right for him;23 그럴 때에 만일 일천 천사 가운데 하나가 그 사람의 해석자로 함께 있어서 그 정당히 행할 것을 보일찐대
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.24 And if he has mercy on him, and says, Let him not go down to the underworld, I have given the price for his life:24 하나님이 그 사람을 긍휼히 여기사 이르시기를 그를 건져서 구덩이에 내려가지 않게 하라 내가 대속물을 얻었다 하시리라
His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:25 Then his flesh becomes young again, and he comes back to the days of his early strength;25 그런즉 그 살이 어린 아이보다 연하여져서 소년 때를 회복할 것이요
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.26 He makes his prayer to God, and he has mercy on him; he sees God's face with cries of joy; he gives news of his righteousness to men;26 그는 하나님께 기도하므로 하나님이 은혜를 베푸사 그로 자기의 얼굴을 즐거이 보게 하시고 사람에게 그 의를 회복시키시느니라
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;27 He makes a song, saying, I did wrong, turning from the straight way, but he did not give me the reward of my sin.27 그가 사람 앞에서 노래하여 이르기를 내가 전에 범죄하여 시비를 바꾸었으나 내게 무익하였었구나
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.28 He kept my soul from the underworld, and my life sees the light in full measure.28 하나님이 내 영혼을 건지사 구덩이에 내려가지 않게 하셨으니 내 생명이 빛을 보겠구나 하리라
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,29 Truly, God does all these things to man, twice and three times,29
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.30 Keeping back his soul from the underworld, so that he may see the light of life.30 그 영혼을 구덩이에서 끌어 돌이키고 생명의 빛으로 그에게 비취려 하심이니라
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.31 Take note O Job, give ear to me; keep quiet, while I say what is in my mind.31
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.32 If you have anything to say, give me an answer; for it is my desire that you may be judged free from sin.32 만일 할 말이 있거든 대답하라 내가 너를 의롭게 하려 하노니 말하라
If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.33 If not, give attention to me, and keep quiet, and I will give you wisdom.33
