But Job answered and said,1 Then Job made answer and said,1 욥이 대답하여 가로되
Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.2 Give attention with care to my words; and let this be your comfort.2 너희는 내 말을 자세히 들으라 이것이 너희의 위로가 될 것이니라
Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.3 Let me say what is in my mind, and after that, go on making sport of me.3 나를 용납하여 말하게 하라 내가 말한 후에 또 조롱할찌니라
As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?4 As for me, is my outcry against man? is it then to be wondered at if my spirit is troubled?4 나의 원망이 사람을 향하여 하는 것이냐 내가 어찌 초급하지 아니하겠느냐
Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.5 Take note of me and be full of wonder, put your hand on your mouth.5 너희는 나를 보아라, 놀라라, 손으로 입을 가리우라
Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.6 At the very thought of it my flesh is shaking with fear.6 내가 추억하기만 하여도 답답하고 두려움이 내 몸을 잡는구나
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?7 Why is life given to the evil-doers? why do they become old and strong in power?7 어찌하여 악인이 살고 수를 누리고 세력이 강하냐
Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.8 Their children are ever with them, and their offspring before their eyes.8 씨가 그들의 앞에서 그들과 함께 굳게 서고 자손이 그들의 목전에서 그러하구나
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.9 Their houses are free from fear, and the rod of God does not come on them.9 그 집이 평안하여 두려움이 없고 하나님의 매가 그 위에 임하지 아니하며
Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.10 Their ox is ready at all times to give seed; their cow gives birth, without dropping her young.10 그 수소는 영락 없이 새끼를 배게 하고 그 암소는 새끼를 낳고 낙태하지 않는구나
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.11 They send out their young ones like a flock, and their children have pleasure in the dance,11 그들은 아이들을 내어보냄이 양 떼 같고 그 자녀들은 춤 추는구나
They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.12 They make songs to the instruments of music, and are glad at the sound of the pipe.12 그들이 소고와 수금으로 노래하고 피리 불어 즐기며
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.13 Their days come to an end without trouble, and suddenly they go down to the underworld.13 그 날을 형통하게 지내다가 경각간에 음부에 내려가느니라
Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.14 Though they said to God, Go away from us, for we have no desire for the knowledge of your ways.14 그러할찌라도 그들은 하나님께 말하기를 우리를 떠나소서 우리가 주의 도리 알기를 즐겨하지 아니하나이다
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?15 What is the Ruler of all, that we may give him worship? and what profit is it to us to make prayer to him?15 전능자가 누구기에 우리가 섬기며 우리가 그에게 기도한들 무슨 이익을 얻으랴 하는구나
Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.16 Truly, is not their well-being in their power? (The purpose of the evil-doers is far from me.)16 그들의 복록이 그들의 손으로 말미암은 것이 아니니라 악인의 계획은 나와 판이하니라
How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.17 How frequently is the light of the evil-doers put out, or does trouble come on them? how frequently does his wrath take them with cords?17 악인의 등불이 꺼짐이나 재앙이 그들에게 임함이나 하나님이 진노하사 그들을 곤고케 하심이나
They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.18 How frequently are they as dry stems before the wind, or as grass taken away by the storm-wind?18 그들이 바람 앞에 검불 같이, 폭풍에 불려가는 겨 같이 되는 일이 몇번이나 있었느냐
God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.19 You say, God keeps punishment stored up for his children. Let him send it on the man himself, so that he may have the punishment of it!19 하나님이 그의 죄악을 쌓아 두셨다가 그 자손에게 갚으신다 하거니와 그 몸에 갚으셔서 그로 깨닫게 하셔야 할 것이라
His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.20 Let his eyes see his trouble, and let him be full of the wrath of the Ruler of all!20 자기의 멸망을 자기의 눈으로 보게 하시며 전능자의 진노를 마시게 하셔야 할 것이니라
For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?21 For what interest has he in his house after him, when the number of his months is ended?21 그의 달 수가 진하면 자기 집에 대하여 무슨 관계가 있겠느냐
Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.22 Is anyone able to give teaching to God? for he is the judge of those who are on high.22 그러나 하나님은 높은 자들을 심판하시나니 누가 능히 하나님께 지식을 가르치겠느냐
One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.23 One comes to his end in complete well-being, full of peace and quiet:23 어떤 사람은 죽도록 기운이 충실하여 평강하며 안일하고
His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.24 His buckets are full of milk, and there is no loss of strength in his bones.24 그 그릇에는 젖이 가득하며 그 골수는 윤택하였고
And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.25 And another comes to his end with a bitter soul, without ever tasting good.25 어떤 사람은 죽도록 마음에 고통하고 복을 맛보지 못하였어도
They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.26 Together they go down to the dust, and are covered by the worm.26 이 둘이 일반으로 흙 속에 눕고 그 위에 구더기가 덮이는구나
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.27 See, I am conscious of your thoughts, and of your violent purposes against me;27 내가 너희의 생각을 알고 너희가 나를 해하려는 궤휼도 아노라
For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?28 For you say, Where is the house of the ruler, and where is the tent of the evil-doer?28 너희의 말이 왕후의 집이 어디 있으며 악인의 거하던 장막이 어디 있느뇨 하는구나
Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,29 Have you not put the question to the travellers, and do you not take note of their experience?29 너희가 길 가는 사람들에게 묻지 아니하였느냐 그들의 증거를 알지 못하느냐
That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.30 How the evil man goes free in the day of trouble, and has salvation in the day of wrath?30 악인은 남기워서 멸망의 날을 기다리움이 되고 멸망의 날을 맞으러 끌려 나감이 된다 하느니라
Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?31 Who will make his way clear to his face? and if he has done a thing, who gives him punishment for it?31 누가 능히 그의 행위를 면박하며 누가 능히 그의 소위를 보응하랴마는
Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.32 He is taken to his last resting-place, and keeps watch over it.32 그를 무덤으로 메어 가고 사람이 그 무덤을 지키리라
The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.33 The earth of the valley covering his bones is sweet to him, and all men come after him, as there were unnumbered before him.33 그는 골짜기의 흙덩이를 달게 여기고 그 앞선 자가 무수함 같이 모든 사람이 그 뒤를 좇으리라
How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?34 Why then do you give me comfort with words in which there is no profit, when you see that there is nothing in your answers but deceit?34 이러한즉 너희의 위로가 헛되지 아니하냐 너희의 대답은 거짓 뿐이니라
