1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose namewasJob; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that fearedGod, and eschewedevil.
1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. He was without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil.
1 우스 땅에 욥이라 이름하는 사람이 있었는데 그 사람은 순전하고 정직하여 하나님을 경외하며 악에서 떠난 자더라
2 And there were born unto him sevensons and threedaughters.
2 And he had seven sons and three daughters.
2 그 소생은 남자가 일곱이요 여자가 셋이며
3 His substance also was seventhousandsheep, and threethousandcamels, and fivehundredyoke of oxen, and fivehundred she asses, and a verygreathousehold; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
3 And of cattle he had seven thousand sheep and goats, and three thousand camels, and a thousand oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and a very great number of servants. And the man was greater than any of the sons of the east.
3 그 소유물은 양이 칠천이요 약대가 삼천이요 소가 오백 겨리요 암나귀가 오백이며 종도 많이 있었으니 이 사람은 동방 사람 중에 가장 큰 자라
4 And his sonswent and feastedㆍin theirhouses, every one his day; and sent and called for their threesisters to eat and to drink with them.
4 His sons regularly went to one another's houses, and every one on his day gave a feast: and at these times they sent for their three sisters to take part in their feasts with them.
4 그 아들들이 자기 생일이면 각각 자기의 집에서 잔치를 베풀고 그 누이 셋도 청하여 함께 먹고 마시므로
5 And it was so, when the days of theirfeasting were gone about, that Jobsent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offeringsaccording to the number of them all: for Jobsaid, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursedGod in their hearts. Thus didJobcontinually.
5 And at the end of their days of feasting, Job sent and made them clean, getting up early in the morning and offering burned offerings for them all. For, Job said, It may be that my sons have done wrong and said evil of God in their hearts. And Job did this whenever the feasts came round.
5 그 잔치 날이 지나면 욥이 그들을 불러다가 성결케 하되 아침에 일어나서 그들의 명수대로 번제를 드렸으니 이는 욥이 말하기를 혹시 내 아들들이 죄를 범하여 마음으로 하나님을 배반하였을까 함이라 욥의 행사가 항상 이러하였더라
6 Now there was a day when the sons of Godcame to present themselves before the LORD, and Satancame also among them.
6 And there was a day when the sons of the gods came together before the Lord, and the Satan came with them.
6 하루는 하나님의 아들들이 와서 여호와 앞에 섰고 사단도 그들 가운데 왔는지라
7 And the LORDsaid unto Satan, Whencecomest thou? Then Satananswered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
7 And the Lord said to the Satan, Where do you come from? And the Satan said in answer, From wandering this way and that on the earth, and walking about on it.
7 여호와께서 사단에게 이르시되 네가 어디서 왔느냐 사단이 여호와께 대답하여 가로되 땅에 두루 돌아 여기 저기 다녀 왔나이다
8 And the LORDsaid unto Satan, Hast thou consideredㆍ my servantJob, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an uprightman, one that fearethGod, and eschewethevil?
8 And the Lord said to the Satan, Have you taken note of my servant Job, for there is no one like him on the earth, a man without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil?
8 여호와께서 사단에게 이르시되 네가 내 종 욥을 유의하여 보았느냐 그와 같이 순전하고 정직하여 하나님을 경외하며 악에서 떠난 자가 세상에 없느니라
9 Then Satananswered the LORD, and said, Doth JobfearGod for nought?
9 And the Satan said in answer to the Lord, Is it for nothing that Job is a god-fearing man?
9 사단이 여호와께 대답하여 가로되 욥이 어찌 까닭 없이 하나님을 경외하리이까
10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
10 Have you yourself not put a wall round him and his house and all he has on every side, blessing the work of his hands, and increasing his cattle in the land?
10 주께서 그와 그 집과 그 모든 소유물을 산울로 두르심이 아니니이까 주께서 그 손으로 하는바를 복되게 하사 그 소유물로 땅에 널리게 하셨음이니이다
11But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curseㆍ thee to thy face.
11 But now, put out your hand against all he has, and he will be cursing you to your face.
11 이제 주의 손을 펴서 그의 모든 소유물을 치소서 그리하시면 정녕 대면하여 주를 욕하리이다
12 And the LORDsaid unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
12 And the Lord said to the Satan, See, I give all he has into your hands, only do not put a finger on the man himself. And the Satan went out from before the Lord.
12 여호와께서 사단에게 이르시되 내가 그의 소유물을 다 네 손에 붙이노라 오직 그의 몸에는 네 손을 대지 말지니라 사단이 곧 여호와 앞에서 물러가니라
13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughterswereeating and drinkingwine in their eldestbrother'shouse:
13 And there was a day when his sons and daughters were feasting in the house of their oldest brother,
13 하루는 욥의 자녀들이 그 맏형의 집에서 식물을 먹으며 포도주를 마실 때에
14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the assesfeedingbeside them:
14 And a man came to Job, and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses were taking their food by their side:
14 사자가 욥에게 와서 고하되 소는 밭을 갈고 나귀는 그 곁에서 풀을 먹는데
15 And the Sabeansfellupon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
15 And the men of Sheba came against them and took them away, putting the young men to the sword, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
15 스바 사람이 갑자기 이르러 그것들을 빼앗고 칼로 종을 죽였나이다 나만 홀로 피한고로 주인께 고하러 왔나이다
16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
16 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The fire of God came down from heaven, burning up the sheep and the goats and the young men completely, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
16 그가 아직 말할 때에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하되 하나님의 불이 하늘에서 내려와서 양과 종을 살라 버렸나이다 나만 홀로 피한고로 주인께 고하러 왔나이다
17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made outthreebands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
17 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, The Chaldaeans made themselves into three bands, and came down on the camels and took them away, putting the young men to the sword, and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
17 그가 아직 말할 때에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하되 갈대아 사람이 세 떼를 지어 갑자기 약대에게 달려들어 그것을 빼앗으며 칼로 종을 죽였나이다 나만 홀로 피한고로 주인께 고하러 왔나이다
18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughterswereeating and drinkingwine in their eldestbrother'shouse:
18 And this one was still talking when another came, and said, Your sons and your daughters were feasting together in their oldest brother's house,
18 그가 아직 말할 때에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하되 주인의 자녀들이 그 맏형의 집에서 식물을 먹으며 포도주를 마시더니
19 And, behold, there came a greatwindfrom the wilderness, and smote the fourcorners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
19 When a great wind came rushing from the waste land against the four sides of the house, and it came down on the young men, and they are dead; and I was the only one who got away safe to give you the news.
19 거친 들에서 대풍이 와서 집 네 모퉁이를 치매 그 소년들 위에 무너지므로 그들이 죽었나이다 나만 홀로 피한고로 주인께 고하러 왔나이다 한지라
20 Then Jobarose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
20 Then Job got up, and after parting his clothing and cutting off his hair, he went down on his face to the earth, and gave worship, and said,
20 욥이 일어나 겉옷을 찢고 머리털을 밀고 땅에 엎드려 경배하며
21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother'swomb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORDgave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
21 With nothing I came out of my mother's body, and with nothing I will go back there; the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; let the Lord's name be praised.
21 가로되 내가 모태에서 적신이 나왔사온즉 또한 적신이 그리로 돌아 가올찌라 주신 자도 여호와시요 취하신 자도 여호와시오니 여호와의 이름이 찬송을 받으실찌니이다 하고
22 In all this Jobsinned not, nor chargedGodfoolishly.
22 In all this Job did no sin, and did not say that God's acts were foolish.
