| 4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; | 4 This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said to all those whom I have taken away prisoners from Jerusalem to Babylon: | 4 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡혀 가게 한 모든 포로에게 이같이 이르노라 |

| 7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. | 7 And be working for the peace of the land to which I have had you taken away prisoners, and make prayer to the Lord for it: for in its peace you will have peace. | 7 너희는 내가 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 성읍의 평안하기를 힘쓰고 위하여 여호와께 기도하라 이는 그 성이 평안함으로 너희도 평안할 것임이니라 |
| 8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. | 8 For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said: Do not let yourselves be tricked by the prophets who are among you, and the readers of signs, and give no attention to their dreams which they may have; | 8 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라 너희 중 선지자들에게와 복술에게 혹하지 말며 너희가 꾼바 꿈도 신청하지 말라 |
| 9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD. | 9 For they are saying to you what is false in my name: I have not sent them, says the Lord. | 9 내가 그들을 보내지 아니하였어도 그들이 내 이름으로 거짓을 예언함이니라 여호와의 말이니라 |
| 10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. | 10 For this is what the Lord has said: When seventy years are ended for Babylon, I will have pity on you and give effect to my good purpose for you, causing you to come back to this place. | 10 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 바벨론에서 칠십년이 차면 내가 너희를 권고하고 나의 선한 말을 너희에게 실행하여 너희를 이곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 |
| 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. | 11 For I am conscious of my thoughts about you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope at the end. | 11 나 여호와가 말하노라 너희를 향한 나의 생각은 내가 아나니 재앙이 아니라 곧 평안이요 너희 장래에 소망을 주려하는 생각이라 |
| 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. | 12 And you will go on crying to me and making prayer to me, and I will give ear to you. | 12 너희는 내게 부르짖으며 와서 내게 기도하면 내가 너희를 들을 것이요 |
| 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. | 13 And you will be searching for me and I will be there, when you have gone after me with all your heart. | 13 너희가 전심으로 나를 찾고 찾으면 나를 만나리라 |
| 14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity ㆍ, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. | 14 I will be near you again, says the Lord, and your fate will be changed, and I will get you together from all the nations and from all the places where I had sent you away, says the Lord; and I will take you back again to the place from which I sent you away prisoners. | 14 나 여호와가 말하노라 내가 너희에게 만나지겠고 너희를 포로된 중에서 다시 돌아오게 하되 내가 쫓아 보내었던 열방과 모든 곳에서 모아 사로잡혀 떠나게 하던 본 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 여호와의 말이니라 하셨느니라 |
| 15 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon; | 15 For you have said, The Lord has given us prophets in Babylon. | 15 너희가 말하기를 여호와께서 바벨론에서 우리를 위하여 선지자들을 일으키셨다 하므로 |
| 16 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity; | 16 For this is what the Lord has said about the king who is seated on the seat of David's kingdom, and about all the people living in this town, your countrymen who have not gone out with you as prisoners; | 16 여호와께서 다윗의 위에 앉은 왕과 이 성에 거하는 모든 백성 곧 너희와 함께 포로되어 가지 아니한 너희 형제에게 대하여 이같이 말씀하시느니라 |
| 17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. | 17 This is what the Lord of armies has said: See, I will send on them the sword and need of food and disease, and will make them like bad figs, which are of no use for food, they are so bad. | 17 만군의 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 칼과 기근과 염병을 그들에게 보내어 그들로 악하여 먹을 수 없는 악한 무화과 같게 하겠고 |
| 18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed ㆍ to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them: | 18 I will go after them, attacking them with the sword and with need of food and with disease, and will make them a cause of fear to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse and a wonder and a surprise and a name of shame among all the nations where I have sent them: | 18 내가 칼과 기근과 염병으로 그들을 따르게 하며 그들을 세계 열방 중에 흩어 학대를 당하게 할 것이며 내가 그들을 쫓아 보낸 열방 중에서 저줏거리와 놀램과 치소와 모욕거리가 되게 하리니 |
| 19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD. | 19 Because they have not given ear to my words, says the Lord, when I sent to them my servants the prophets, getting up early and sending them; but you did not give ear, says the Lord. | 19 이는 내가 내 종 선지자들을 그들에게 보내되 부지런히 보내었으나 그들이 나 여호와의 말을 듣지 아니하며 듣지 아니 함이니라 여호와의 말이니라 |
| 20 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon: | 20 And now, give ear to the word of the Lord, all you whom I have sent away prisoners from Jerusalem to Babylon. | 20 그런즉 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 보낸 너희 모든 포로여 나 여호와의 말을 들을찌니라 |
| 21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes; | 21 This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel, has said about Ahab, the son of Kolaiah, and about Zedekiah, the son of Maaseiah, who are saying to you what is false in my name: See, I will give them up into the hands of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, and he will put them to death before your eyes. | 21 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님 내가 골라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 시드기야에 대하여 말하노라 그들은 내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언한 자라 보라 내가 그들을 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 붙이리니 그가 너희 목전에서 그들을 죽일 것이라 |
| 22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire; | 22 And their fate will be used as a curse by all the prisoners of Judah who are in Babylon, who will say, May the Lord make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, who were burned in the fire by the king of Babylon; | 22 너희 바벨론에 있는 유다 모든 포로가 그들로 저줏거리를 삼아서 이르기를 여호와께서 너로 바벨론 왕이 불살라 죽인 시드기야와 아합 같게 하시기를 원하노라 하리니 |
| 23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD. | 23 Because they have done shame in Israel, and have taken their neighbours' wives, and in my name have said false words, which I did not give them orders to say; and I myself am the witness, says the Lord. | 23 이는 그들이 이스라엘 중에서 망령되이 행하여 그 이웃의 아내와 행음하며 내가 그들에게 명하지 아니한 거짓을 내 이름으로 말함이니라 나는 아는 자요 증거인이니라 여호와의 말이니라 하셨다 하였더라 |
| 24 Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, | 24 About Shemaiah the Nehelamite. | 24 너는 느헬람 사람 스마야에게 이같이 말하여 이르라 |
| 25 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, | 25 Shemaiah the Nehelamite sent a letter in his name to Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, | 25 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말씀하여 가라사대 네가 네 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐와 모든 제사장에게 글을 보내어 이르기를 |
| 26 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks. | 26 The Lord has made you priest in place of Jehoiada the priest, to be an overseer in the house of the Lord for every man who is off his head and is acting as a prophet, to put such men in prison and in chains. | 26 여호와께서 너로 제사장 여호야다를 대신하여 제사장을 삼아 여호와의 집 유사로 세우심은 무릇 미친 자와 자칭 선지자를 착고에 채우며 칼을 메우게 하심이어늘 |
| 27 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved | 27 So why have you made no protest against Jeremiah of Anathoth, who is acting as a prophet to you? | 27 이제 네가 어찌하여 너희 중에 자칭 선지자라 하는 아나돗 사람 예레미야를 책망하지 아니하느냐 |
| 28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them. | 28 For he has sent to us in Babylon saying, The time will be long: go on building houses and living in them, and planting gardens and using the fruit of them. | 28 대저 그가 바벨론에 있는 우리에게 편지하기를 때가 오래리니 너희는 집을 짓고 거기 거하며 전원을 만들고 그 열매를 먹으라 하였다 하였느니라 |
| 29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of | 29 And Zephaniah the priest made clear to Jeremiah the prophet what was said in the letter, reading it to him. | 29 제사장 스바냐가 스마야의 글을 선지자 예레미야에게 읽어 들릴 때에 |
| 30 Then came the word of the LORD unto | 30 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, | 30 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 가라사대 |
| 31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie: | 31 Send to all those who have been taken away, saying, This is what the Lord has said about Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has been acting as a prophet to you, and I did not send him, and has made you put your faith in what is false; | 31 너는 모든 포로에게 글을 보내어 이르기를 여호와께서 느헬람 사람 스마야에 대하여 이같이 말씀하시되 내가 스마야를 보내지 아니하였거늘 그가 너희에게 예언하고 너희로 거짓을 믿게 하였도다 |
| 32 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD. | 32 For this cause the Lord has said, Truly I will send punishment on Shemaiah and on his seed; not a man of his family will have a place among this people, and he will not see the good which I am going to do to my people, says the Lord: because he has said words against the Lord. | 32 그러므로 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 보라 내가 느헬람 사람 스마야와 그 자손을 벌하리니 그가 나 여호와께 패역한 말을 하였음을 인하여 이 백성 중에 거할 그의 사람이 하나도 없을 것이라 내가 내 백성에게 행하려 하는 선한 일을 그가 보지 못하리라 하셨다 하라 여호와의 말이니라 |
