Jeremiah complains of the prosperity of the wicked. (1-6) The heavy judgments to come upon the nation. (7-13) Divine mercy to them, and even to the nations around. (14-17)
KJV BBE KRV
Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?1 You are in the right, O Lord, when I put my cause before you: still let me take up with you the question of your decisions: why does the evil-doer do well? why are the workers of deceit living in comfort?1 여호와여 내가 주와 쟁변할 때에는 주는 의로우시니이다 그러나 내가 주께 질문하옵나니 악한 자의 길이 형통하며 패역한 자가 다 안락함은 무슨 연고니이까
Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.2 They have been planted by you, they have taken root; they go on and give fruit: you are near in their mouths but far from their thoughts.2 주께서 그들을 심으시므로 그들이 뿌리가 박히고 장성하여 열매를 맺었거늘 그들의 입은 주께 가까우나 그 마음은 머니이다
But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.3 But you, O Lord, have knowledge of me; you see me, searching and testing how my heart is with you: let them be pulled out like sheep to be put to death, make them ready for the day of death.3 여호와여 주께서 나를 아시고 나를 보시며 내 마음이 주를 향하여 어떠함을 감찰하시오니 양을 잡으려고 끌어 냄과 같이 그들을 끌어 내시되 죽일 날을 위하여 그들을 예비하옵소서
How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.4 How long will the land have grief, and the plants of all the land be dry? because of the sins of the people living in it, destruction has overtaken the beasts and the birds; because they said, God does not see our ways.4 언제까지 이 땅이 슬퍼하며 온 지방의 채소가 마르리이까 짐승과 새들도 멸절하게 되었사오니 이는 이 땅 거민이 악하여 스스로 말하기를 그가 우리의 결국을 보지 못하리라 함이니이다
If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?5 If running with the fighting-men has made you tired, how will you be able to keep up with horses? and if in a land of peace you go in flight, what will become of you in the thick growth of Jordan?5 네가 보행자와 함께 달려도 피곤하면 어찌 능히 말과 경주하겠느냐 네가 평안한 땅에서는 무사하려니와 요단의 창일한 중에서는 어찌하겠느냐
For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.6 For even your brothers, your father's family, even they have been untrue to you, crying loudly after you: have no faith in them, though they say fair words to you.6 네 형제와 아비의 집이라도 너를 속이며 네 뒤에서 크게 외치나니 그들이 네게 좋은 말을 할찌라도 너는 믿지 말찌니라
I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.7 I have given up my house, I have let my heritage go; I have given the loved one of my soul into the hands of her haters.7 내가 내 집을 버리며 내 산업을 내어던져 내 마음의 사랑하는 것을 그 대적의 손에 붙였노니
Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.8 My heritage has become like a lion in the woodland to me; her voice has been loud against me; so I have hate for her.8 내 산업이 삼림 중의 사자 같이 되어서 나를 향하여 그 소리를 발하는고로 내가 그를 미워하였음이로라
Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.9 My heritage is like a brightly coloured bird to me; the cruel birds are attacking her on every side: go, get together all the beasts of the field, make them come for destruction.9 내 산업이 내게 대하여는 무늬 있는 매가 아니냐 매들이 그를 에워싸지 아니하느냐 너희는 가서 들짐승들을 모아다가 그것을 삼키게 하라
Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.10 The keepers of sheep have been the destruction of my vine-garden, crushing my heritage under their feet; they have made my fair heritage an unplanted waste;10 많은 목자가 내 포도원을 훼파하며 내 분깃을 유린하여 나의 낙토로 황무지를 만들었도다
They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.11 They have made it waste; it is weeping to me, being wasted; all the land is made waste, because no man takes it to heart.11 그들이 이를 황무케 하였으므로 그 황무지가 나를 향하여 슬퍼하는도다 온 땅이 황무함은 이를 개의하는 자가 없음이로다
The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.12 Those who make waste have come on all the open hilltops in the waste land; for the sword of the Lord sends destruction from one end of the land to the other end of the land: no flesh has peace.12 훼멸하는 자들이 광야 모든 자산 위에 이르렀고 여호와의 칼이 땅 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 삼키니 무릇 혈육 있는 자가 평안치 못하도다
They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.13 Though good grain was planted, they have got in thorns: they have given themselves pain without profit: they will be shamed on account of their produce, because of the burning wrath of the Lord.13 무리가 밀을 심어도 가시를 거두며 수고하여도 소득이 없은즉 그 소산으로 인하여 스스로 수치를 당하리니 이는 여호와의 분노를 인함이니라
Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.14 This is what the Lord has said against all my evil neighbours, who put their hands on the heritage which I gave my people Israel: See, I will have them uprooted from their land, uprooting the people of Judah from among them.14 내가 내 백성 이스라엘에게 산업으로 준 산업을 다치는 나의 모든 악한 이웃에게 대하여 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 보라 내가 그들을 그 땅에서 뽑아버리겠고 유다 집은 그들 중에서 뽑아내리라
And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.15 And it will come about that, after they have been uprooted, I will again have pity on them; and I will take them back, every man to his heritage and every man to his land.15 내가 그들을 뽑아낸 후에 내가 돌이켜 그들을 긍휼히 여겨서 각 사람을 그 산업으로, 각 사람을 그 땅으로 다시 인도하리니
And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.16 And it will be that, if they give their minds to learning the ways of my people, using my name in their oaths, By the living Lord; as they have been teaching my people to take oaths by the Baal; then their place will be made certain among my people.16 그들이 내 백성의 도를 부지런히 배우며 사는 여호와 내 이름으로 맹세하기를 자기들이 내 백성을 가리켜 바알로 맹세하게 한것 같이 하면 그들이 내 백성 중에 세움을 입으려니와
But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.17 But if they will not give ear, then I will have that nation uprooted, and given to destruction, says the Lord.17 그들이 그리하지 아니하면 내가 반드시 그 나라를 뽑으리라 뽑아 멸하리라 여호와의 말이니라
