1 Then Joseph went to Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brothers with their flocks and their herds and all they have, are come from Canaan, and are now in the land of Goshen.

5 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Let them have the land of Goshen; and if there are any able men among them, put them over my cattle.

6 The land of Egyptis before thee; in the best of the landmake thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowestㆍanymen of activity among them, then make themrulers over my cattle.[x]MKJV: The land of Egypt is before you. Make your father and brothers to live in the best of the land; in the land of Goshen let them live. And if you know men of ability among them, then make them overseers of livestock, over what is mine. 15 And when moneyfailed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptianscame unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the moneyfaileth.[x]MKJV: And when silver failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the silver has failed. BBE: And Joseph said, Give me your cattle; I will give you grain in exchange for your cattle if your money is all gone. 18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the secondyear, and said unto him, We will not hideit from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:[x]MKJV: When that year was ended, they came to him the second year and said, We will not hide [it] from my lord, that our silver has failed, also our herds of cattle, [going] to my lord. Nothing is left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies and our lands. 18 그 해가 다하고 새 해가 되매 무리가 요셉에게 와서 그에게 고하되 우리가 주께 숨기지 아니하나이다 우리의 돈이 다하였고 우리의 짐승 떼가 주께로 돌아 갔사오니 주께 낼 것이 아무 것도 남지 아니하고 우리의 몸과 전지뿐이라
19 Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and giveusseed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.[x]MKJV: Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants for Pharaoh. And give [us] seed, that we may live and not die, that the land be not desolate. 20 And Josephbought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptianssold every man his field, because the famineprevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.[x]MKJV: And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them and the land became Pharaoh's. 20 So Joseph got all the land in Egypt for Pharaoh; for every Egyptian gave up his land in exchange for food, because of their great need; so all the land became Pharaoh's.

21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from oneend of the borders of Egypt even to the otherend thereof.[x]MKJV: And as for the people, he caused them to go into the cities, from [one] end of the borders of Egypt even to the [other] end of it. Therefore they did not sell their land. 23 Then Josephsaid unto the people, Behold, I have boughtㆍ you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here isseed for you, and ye shall sow the land.[x]MKJV: And Joseph said to the people, Behold, I have bought you this day, and your land, for Pharaoh. Lo, [here is] seed for you, and you shall sow the land. 25 And they said to him, Truly you have kept us from death; may we have grace in your eyes, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

26 Then Joseph made a law which is in force to this day, that Pharaoh was to have the fifth part; only the land of the priests did not become his.

29 And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his sonJoseph, and said unto him, If now I have foundgrace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and dealkindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:[x]MKJV: And the days of Israel to die drew near. And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If now I have found grace in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt. 29 이스라엘의 죽을 기한이 가까우매 그가 그 아들 요셉을 불러 그에게 이르되 이제 내가 네게 은혜를 입었거든 청하노니 네 손을 내 환도뼈 아래 넣어서 나를 인애와 성심으로 대접하여 애굽에 장사하지 않기를 맹세하고
30 But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.[x]MKJV: But I will lie with my fathers. You shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burying-place. And he said, I will do according to your words. BBE: But when I go to my fathers, you are to take me out of Egypt and put me to rest in their last resting-place. And he said, I will do so. KAV: 오직 내가 내 조상들과 함께 누우리니 너는 나를 이집트에서 메어다가 조상들의 묘지에 나를 묻으라, 하매 그가 이르되, 내가 아버지께서 말씀하신 대로 행하리이다, 하니라.
