9 Then the memory of his dreams about them came back to Joseph, and he said to them, You have come secretly to see how poor the land is.

BBE: But in this way will you be put to the test: by the life of Pharaoh, you will not go away from this place till your youngest brother comes here. Or else, [as] Pharaoh lives, surely you [are] spies. BBE: Send one of your number to get your brother, and the rest of you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are true; if not, by the life of Pharaoh, your purpose is certainly secret. 16 Send one of your number to get your brother, and the rest of you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are true; if not, by the life of Pharaoh, your purpose is certainly secret.

Therefore this distress has come upon us. 22 And Reubenanswered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.[x]MKJV: And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you saying, Do not sin against the youth? And you would not hear. Therefore, behold, also his blood is required. BBE: And Reuben said to them, Did I not say to you, Do the child no wrong? but you gave no attention; so now, punishment has come on us for his blood. 25 Then Josephcommanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man'smoney into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.[x]MKJV: Then Joseph commanded their sacks to be filled [with] grain, and returned their silver, each into his sack, and to give them provision for the way. And so he did to them. BBE: Then Joseph gave orders for their bags to be made full of grain, and for every man's money to be put back into his bag, and for food to be given them for the journey: which was done. 27 Now at their night's resting-place one of them, opening his bag to give his ass some food, saw his money in the mouth of the bag.
27 한 사람이 객점에서 나귀에게 먹이를 주려고 자루를 풀고 본즉 그 돈이 자루 아구에 있는지라
28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heartfailedthem, and they were afraid, sayingone to another, What is this thatGod hath done unto us?[x]MKJV: And he said to his brothers, My silver has been put back. And, also look in my sack. And their hearts failed, and they each were afraid, saying to one another, What [is] this God has done to us? 28 And he said to his brothers, My money has been given back: it is in my bag; then their hearts became full of fear, and turning to one another they said, What is this which God has done to us?

30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spakeroughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.[x]MKJV: The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country. BBE: The man who is the ruler of the country was rough with us and put us in prison, saying that we had come with a secret evil purpose. KAV: 그 땅의 주 그 사람이 우리에게 거칠게 말하고 또 우리를 그 나라의 정탐꾼으로 여기기에

31 And we said unto him, We aretruemen; we are no spies:[x]MKJV: And we said to him, We [are] honest, we [are] not spies. BBE: And we said to him, We are true men, we have no evil designs; KAV: 우리가 그에게 이르되, 우리는 진실한 자들이요, 정탐꾼이 아니니이다.

32 We betwelveㆍbrethren, sons of our father; oneis not, and the youngestis this day with our father in the land of Canaan.[x]MKJV: We are twelve brothers, sons of our father. 32 We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is dead, and the youngest is now with our father in the land of Canaan.
32 우리는 한 아비의 아들 십 이 형제로서 하나는 없어지고 말째는 오늘 우리 아버지와 함께 가나안 땅에 있나이다 하였더니
33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye aretruemen;leaveone of your brethrenhere with me, and takefood for the famine of your households, and be gone:[x]MKJV: And the man, the lord of the country, said to us, By this I shall know that you [are] honest. Leave one, your brother, with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and go. BBE: And the ruler of the land said, In this way I may be certain that you are true men; let one of you be kept here with me, while you go and take grain for the needs of your families; KAV: 그 나라의 주 그 사람이 우리에게 이르되, 내가 이같이 하여 너희가 진실한 자들임을 알리라. 너희 형제 중에 한 사람을 여기에 나와 함께 남겨 두고 양식을 가지고 가서 너희 집안의 기근을 면하고 TSK: And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:: ge 42:15,19,20
33 And the ruler of the land said, In this way I may be certain that you are true men; let one of you be kept here with me, while you go and take grain for the needs of your families;
33 그 땅의 주 그 사람이 우리에게 이르되 내가 이같이 하여 너희가 독실한 자임을 알리니 너희 형제중 하나를 내게 두고 양식을 가지고 가서 너희 집들의 주림을 구하고
34 And bring your youngestbrother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye aretruemen: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffic in the land.[x]MKJV: And bring your youngest brother to me. Then I shall know that you [are] not spies, but that you [are] honest. And I will deliver you your brother, and you shall trade in the land. BBE: And come back to me with your youngest brother: then I will be certain that you are true men, and I will give your brother back to you and let you do trade in the land. 34 And come back to me with your youngest brother: then I will be certain that you are true men, and I will give your brother back to you and let you do trade in the land.

35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man'sbundle of moneywas in his sack: and when both they and their fathersaw the bundles of money, they were afraid.[x]MKJV: And it happened they emptied their sacks, behold, every man's bundle of silver [was] in his sack. And when they and their father saw the bundles of silver, they were afraid. BBE: And when they took the grain out of their bags, it was seen that every man's parcel of money was in his bag; and when they and their father saw the money, they were full of fear. 35 And when they took the grain out of their bags, it was seen that every man's parcel of money was in his bag; and when they and their father saw the money, they were full of fear.

36 And Jacob their fathersaid unto them, Me have ye bereavedof my children:Josephis not, and Simeonis not, and ye will takeBenjaminaway: all these things are against me.[x]MKJV: And Jacob their father said to them, You have bereaved me. Joseph [is] not, and Simeon [is] not, and you will take Benjamin. All these things are against me. BBE: And Jacob their father said to them, You have taken my children from me: Joseph is gone and Simeon is gone, and now you would take Benjamin away; all these things have come on me. 36 And Jacob their father said to them, You have taken my children from me: Joseph is gone and Simeon is gone, and now you would take Benjamin away; all these things have come on me.
36 그 아비 야곱이 그들에게 이르되 너희가 나로 나의 자식들을 잃게 하도다 요셉도 없어졌고 시므온도 없어졌거늘 베냐민을 또 빼앗아 가고자 하니 이는 다 나를 해롭게 함이로다
37 And Reubenspake unto his father, saying, Slay my twosons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.[x]MKJV: And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, Kill my two sons if I do not bring him to you. Deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to you again. BBE: And Reuben said, Put my two sons to death if I do not come back to you with him; let him be in my care and I will give him safely back to you. KAV: 르우벤이 자기 아버지에게 말하여 이르되, 내가 그를 아버지께로 데려오지 아니하거든 내 두 아들을 죽이소서. 그를 내 손에 넘겨주소서. 내가 그를 다시 아버지께로 데리고 돌아오리이다, 하매 TSK: Slay my: ge 43:9, ge 44:32-34, ge 46:9, mic 6:7
37 And Reuben said, Put my two sons to death if I do not come back to you with him; let him be in my care and I will give him safely back to you.
37 르우벤이 아비에게 고하여 가로되 내가 그를 아버지께로 데리고 오지 아니하거든 나의 두 아들을 죽이소서 그를 내 손에 맡기소서 내가 그를 아버지께로 데리고 돌아오리이다
38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischiefbefall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.[x]MKJV: And he said, My son shall not go down with you. For his brother is dead, and he is left alone. And [if] mischief should happen to him by the way you go, then you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. BBE: And he said, I will not let my son go down with you; for his brother is dead and he is all I have: if evil overtakes him on the journey, then through you will my grey head go down to the underworld in sorrow. KAV: 야곱이 이르되, 내 아들은 너희와 함께 내려가지 아니하리니 그의 형이 죽고 그만 홀로 남았도다. 만일 너희가 가는 길에서 재난이 그에게 닥치면 그때에는 너희가 나의 흰머리를 슬픔과 함께 무덤으로 떨어뜨리리로다, 하니라. 38 야곱이 가로되 내 아들은 너희와 함께 내려가지 못하리니 그의 형은 죽고 그만 남았음이라 만일 너희 행하는 길에서 재난이 그 몸에 미치면 너희가 나의 흰 머리로 슬피 음부로 내려가게 함이 되리라
