7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sinlieth at the door. 10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the earth.

11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother'sblood from thy hand;[x]MKJV: And now you [are] cursed more than the ground which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforthyield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.[x]MKJV: When you till the ground, it will not again give its strength to you. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.[x]MKJV: Behold! 15 And the LORDsaid unto him, Therefore whosoever slayethCain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORDset a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to him, Therefore whoever kills Cain shall be avenged seven times. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain so that anyone who found him should not kill him. BBE: And the Lord said, Truly, if Cain is put to death, seven lives will be taken for his. 24IfCain shall be avengedsevenfold, truly Lamechseventy and sevenfold.[x]MKJV: For Cain is avenged seven times, and Lamech seventy-seven times.
