19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followedㆍ the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.[x]MKJV: And so he commanded the second and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, In this way you shall speak to Esau when you find him. 26 그 사람이 가로되 날이 새려하니 나로 가게 하라 야곱이 가로되 당신이 내게 축복하지 아니하면 가게 하지 아니하겠나이다
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.[x]MKJV: And He said to him, What [is] your name? And he said, Jacob. BBE: Then he said, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. KAV: 그가 야곱에게 이르되, 네 이름이 무엇이냐? 하거늘 그가 이르되, 야곱이니이다, 하매
27 Then he said, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.
27 그 사람이 그에게 이르되 네 이름이 무엇이냐 그가 가로되 야곱이니이다
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.[x]MKJV: And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for like a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed. BBE: And he said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel: for in your fight with God and with men you have overcome. 28 And he said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel: for in your fight with God and with men you have overcome.
28 그 사람이 가로되 네 이름을 다시는 야곱이라 부를 것이 아니요 이스라엘이라 부를 것이니 이는 네가 하나님과 사람으로 더불어 겨루어 이기었음이니라
29 And Jacobaskedhim, and said, Tellme, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore isitthat thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.[x]MKJV: And Jacob asked and said, I pray You, reveal Your name. And He said, Why do you ask after My name? And He blessed him there. BBE: Then Jacob said, What is your name? And he said, What is my name to you? Then he gave him a blessing. 29 Then Jacob said, What is your name? And he said, What is my name to you? Then he gave him a blessing.
29 야곱이 청하여 가로되 당신의 이름을 고하소서 그 사람이 가로되 어찌 내 이름을 묻느냐 하고 거기서 야곱에게 축복한지라
30 And Jacob gave that place the name of Peniel, saying, I have seen God face to face, and still I am living.
30 그러므로 야곱이 그곳 이름을 브니엘이라 하였으니 그가 이르기를 내가 하나님과 대면하여 보았으나 내 생명이 보전되었다 함이더라
31 And as he passed overPenuel the sunrose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.[x]MKJV: And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he limped upon his thigh. BBE: And while he was going past Peniel, the sun came up. And he went with unequal steps because of his damaged leg. KAV: 그가 브니엘을 지날 때에 그의 위로 해가 솟았고 그는 넓적다리로 인해 절뚝거리며 걸었더라. 31 And while he was going past Peniel, the sun came up. And he went with unequal steps because of his damaged leg.
31 그가 브니엘을 지날 때에 해가 돋았고 그 환도뼈로 인하여 절었더라
32 Therefore the children of Israeleat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob'sthigh in the sinew that shrank.[x]MKJV: Therefore the sons of Israel do not eat of the sinew of the thigh, which is on the hip-socket, until this day, because He touched Jacob's hip-socket, the sinew of the thigh. BBE: For this reason the children of Israel, even today, never take that muscle in the hollow of the leg as food, because the hollow of Jacob's leg was touched. 32 For this reason the children of Israel, even today, never take that muscle in the hollow of the leg as food, because the hollow of Jacob's leg was touched.
32 그 사람이 야곱의 환도뼈 큰 힘줄을 친고로 이스라엘 사람들이 지금까지 환도뼈 큰 힘줄을 먹지 아니하더라
