5 So Isaac sent Jacob away: and he went to Paddan-aram, to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramaean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

8 It was clear to Esau that his father had no love for the women of Canaan,

13 And, behold, the LORDstood above it, and said, I am the LORDGod of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;[x]MKJV: And behold! The LORD stood above it, and said, I [am] Jehovah, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac! The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your seed. 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.[x]MKJV: And your seed shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And in you and in your Seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all placeswhither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have donethat which I have spoken to thee of.[x]MKJV: And, behold, I [am] with you, and will keep you in every [place] where you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you until I have done that which I have spoken of to you. 16 And Jacobawaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORDis in this place; and I knewit not.[x]MKJV: And Jacob awakened from his sleep. And he said, Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know. BBE: And Jacob, awaking from his sleep, said, Truly, the Lord is in this place and I was not conscious of it. 16 And Jacob, awaking from his sleep, said, Truly, the Lord is in this place and I was not conscious of it.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadfulis this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.[x]MKJV: And he was afraid, and said, How fearful [is] this place! This [is] nothing but the house of God, and this [is] the gate of Heaven! BBE: And fear came on him, and he said, This is a holy place; this is nothing less than the house of God and the doorway of heaven. 19 And he gave that place the name of Beth-el, but before that time the town was named Luz.
20 Then Jacob took an oath, and said, If God will be with me, and keep me safe on my journey, and give me food and clothing to put on,
20 야곱이 서원하여 가로되 하나님이 나와 함께 계시사 내가 가는 이 길에서 나를 지키시고 먹을 양식과 입을 옷을 주사
21 So that I come again to my father'shouse in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:[x]MKJV: and I come again to my father's house in peace, then shall Jehovah be my God. 21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace, then I will take the Lord to be my God,

22 And this stone, which I have setfor a pillar, shall be God'shouse: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.[x]MKJV: And this stone which I have set for a pillar shall be God's house. And of all that You shall give me, I will surely give the tenth to You. BBE: And this stone which I have put up for a pillar will be God's house: and of all you give me, I will give a tenth part to you.
