1 And the Lord came to Sarah as he had said and did to her as he had undertaken.

8 And the childgrew, and was weaned: and Abrahammade a greatfeast the sameday that Isaac was weaned.[x]MKJV: And the child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast the day that Isaac was weaned. 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian playing with Isaac.

10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.[x]MKJV: And she said to Abraham, Cast out this slave woman and her son. For the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son, with Isaac. BBE: So she said to Abraham, Send away that woman and her son: for the son of that woman is not to have a part in the heritage with my son Isaac. 11 And the thing was verygrievous in Abraham'ssightbecause of his son.[x]MKJV: And the thing was very evil in Abraham's sight, because of his son. 12 And Godsaid unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.[x]MKJV: And God said to Abraham, Let it not be grievous in your sight because of the boy and because of your slave woman. In all that Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice. For in Isaac your Seed shall be called. BBE: But God said, Let it not be a grief to you because of the boy and Hagar his mother; give ear to whatever Sarah says to you, because it is from Isaac that your seed will take its name. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and tookbread, and a bottle of water, and gaveit unto Hagar, puttingit on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.[x]MKJV: And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave [it] to Hagar, putting [it] on her shoulder. 15 And the water was spentin the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.[x]MKJV: And the water was gone in the bottle, and she cast the boy under one of the shrubs. BBE: And when all the water in the skin was used up, she put the child down under a tree. 17 And Godheard the voice of the lad; and the angel of Godcalled to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.[x]MKJV: And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar out of the heavens, and said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is. 18Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a greatnation.[x]MKJV: Rise up, lift up the boy and hold him up with your hand, for I will make him a great nation. BBE: Now at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, said to Abraham, I see that God is with you in all you do. 23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.[x]MKJV: Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son. Do to me according to the kindness that I have sworn to you, and to the land in which you have lived. BBE: Now, then, give me your oath, in the name of God, that you will not be false to me or to my sons after me, but that as I have been good to you, so you will be to me and to this land where you have been living. 26 And Abimelechsaid, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it,but to day.[x]MKJV: And Abimelech said, I do not know who has done this thing, neither did you tell me, neither have I even heard of it, except today. BBE: But Abimelech said, I have no idea who has done this thing; you never gave me word of it, and I had no knowledge of it till this day. 26 But Abimelech said, I have no idea who has done this thing; you never gave me word of it, and I had no knowledge of it till this day.

29 And Abimelechsaid unto Abraham, Whatmean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?[x]MKJV: And Abimelech said to Abraham, What are these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves? BBE: Then Abimelech said, What are these seven lambs which you have put on one side? 29 Then Abimelech said, What are these seven lambs which you have put on one side?
29 아비멜렉이 아브라함에게 이르되 이 일곱 암양 새끼를 따로 놓음은 어찜이뇨
30 And he said, For theseseven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.[x]MKJV: And he said, For you shall take [these] seven ewe lambs from my hand, so that they may be a witness to me that I have dug this well. BBE: And he said, Take these seven lambs from me as a witness that I have made this water-hole. 30 And he said, Take these seven lambs from me as a witness that I have made this water-hole.

31 Wherefore he called that placeBeersheba; because there they sware both of them.[x]MKJV: This is why he called that place Beer-sheba, because they swore, both of them, there. 31 So he gave that place the name Beer-sheba, because there the two of them had given their oaths.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.[x]MKJV: So they made a covenant at Beer-sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, rose up. And they returned to the land of the Philistines. BBE: So they made an agreement at Beer-sheba, and Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, went back to the land of the Philistines. 33 And Abrahamplanted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlastingGod.[x]MKJV: And Abraham planted a tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. BBE: And Abraham, after planting a holy tree in Beer-sheba, gave worship to the name of the Lord, the Eternal God. 34 And Abrahamsojourned in the Philistineslandmanydays.[x]MKJV: And Abraham lived in the Philistines' land many days. BBE: And Abraham went on living in the land of the Philistines as in a strange country. KAV: 또 아브라함이 블레셋 사람들의 땅에서 여러 날을 머물렀더라. 34 And Abraham went on living in the land of the Philistines as in a strange country.
