1 Now the Lord said to Abram, Go out from your country and from your family and from your father's house, into the land to which I will be your guide:

2 And I will make of you a great nation, blessing you and making your name great; and you will be a blessing:
2 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루고 네게 복을 주어 네 이름을 창대케 하리니 너는 복의 근원이 될찌라
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.[x]MKJV: And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed. BBE: To them who are good to you will I give blessing, and on him who does you wrong will I put my curse: and you will become a name of blessing to all the families of the earth. 4 So Abramdeparted, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lotwent with him: and Abramwasseventyandfiveyearsold when he departed out of Haran.[x]MKJV: And Abram departed, even as the LORD had spoken to him. And Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. BBE: So Abram went as the Lord had said to him, and Lot went with him: Abram was seventy-five years old when he went away from Haran. 4 So Abram went as the Lord had said to him, and Lot went with him: Abram was seventy-five years old when he went away from Haran.

5 And AbramtookSarai his wife, and Lot his brother'sson, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.[x]MKJV: And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gained in Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their goods and the servants which they had got in Haran, and they went out to go to the land of Canaan.
5 아브람이 그 아내 사래와 조카 롯과 하란에서 모은 모든 소유와 얻은 사람들을 이끌고 가나안 땅으로 가려고 떠나서 마침내 가나안 땅에 들어 갔더라
6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanitewasthen in the land.[x]MKJV: And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, unto the Oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite [was] then in the land. BBE: And Abram went through the land till he came to Shechem, to the holy tree of Moreh. At that time, the Canaanites were still living in the land. 7 And the LORDappeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I givethisland: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.[x]MKJV: And the LORD appeared to Abram and said, I will give this land to your seed. And he built an altar there to the LORD who appeared to him. BBE: And the Lord came to Abram, and said, I will give all this land to your seed; then Abram made an altar there to the Lord who had let himself be seen by him. 7 And the Lord came to Abram, and said, I will give all this land to your seed; then Abram made an altar there to the Lord who had let himself be seen by him.
7 여호와께서 아브람에게 나타나 가라사대 내가 이 땅을 네 자손에게 주리라 하신지라 그가 자기에게 나타나신 여호와를 위하여 그곳에 단을 쌓고
8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, havingBethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.[x]MKJV: And he moved from there to a mountain on the east of Bethel. And he pitched his tent [with] Bethel toward the sea and Hai on the east. And he built an altar there to the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. BBE: And moving on from there to the mountain on the east of Beth-el, he put up his tent, having Beth-el on the west and Ai on the east: and there he made an altar and gave worship to the name of the Lord. 8 거기서 벧엘 동편 산으로 옮겨 장막을 치니 서는 벧엘이요 동은 아이라 그가 그곳에서 여호와를 위하여 단을 쌓고 여호와의 이름을 부르더니

10 And because there was little food to be had in that land, he went down into Egypt.

11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Beholdnow, I know that thou art a fairwoman to look upon:[x]MKJV: And it happened, when he had come near to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look upon. BBE: Now when he came near to Egypt, he said to Sarai, his wife, Truly, you are a fair woman and beautiful to the eye; KAV: 그가 이집트에 가까이 이르러 들어가려 할 때에 자기 아내 사래에게 이르되, 이제, 보라, 당신은 보기에 아름다운 여인임을 내가 아노라. 11 Now when he came near to Egypt, he said to Sarai, his wife, Truly, you are a fair woman and beautiful to the eye;

12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.[x]MKJV: And it will be when the Egyptians see you, they shall say, This [is] his wife. And they will kill me, but they will save you alive. BBE: And I am certain that when the men of Egypt see you, they will say, This is his wife: and they will put me to death and keep you. 12 And I am certain that when the men of Egypt see you, they will say, This is his wife: and they will put me to death and keep you.

13Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.[x]MKJV: I pray you, say that you [are] my sister, so that it may be well with me for your sake. And my soul shall live because of you. BBE: Say, then, that you are my sister, and so it will be well with me because of you, and my life will be kept safe on your account. 14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptiansbeheld the woman that she wasveryfair.[x]MKJV: And it happened when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman [was] very beautiful. BBE: And so it was that when Abram came into Egypt, the men of Egypt, looking on the woman, saw that she was fair. 14 And so it was that when Abram came into Egypt, the men of Egypt, looking on the woman, saw that she was fair.

And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. BBE: And Pharaoh's great men, having seen her, said words in praise of her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into Pharaoh's house. 15 바로의 대신들도 그를 보고 바로 앞에 칭찬하므로 그 여인을 바로의 궁으로 취하여 들인지라
16 And he entreatedAbramwell for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.[x]MKJV: And he treated Abram well for her sake. And he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and male servants, and maidservants, and she-asses, and camels. BBE: And because of her, he was good to Abram, and he had sheep and oxen and asses, and men-servants and women-servants, and camels. 17 And the LORDplaguedPharaoh and his house with greatplagues because ofSaraiAbram'swife.[x]MKJV: And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. BBE: And the Lord sent great troubles on Pharaoh's house because of Sarai, Abram's wife. 17 And the Lord sent great troubles on Pharaoh's house because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

18 And PharaohcalledAbram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?[x]MKJV: And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What [is] this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she [is] your wife? BBE: Then Pharaoh sent for Abram, and said, What have you done to me? why did you not say that she was your wife? KAV: 파라오가 아브람을 불러 이르되, 네가 내게 행한 이 일이 도대체 무엇이냐? 네가 어찌하여 그녀를 네 아내라고 내게 고하지 아니하였느냐? 19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, takeher, and go thy way.[x]MKJV: Why did you say, She [is] my sister? And so I was about to take her to me as wife. Now therefore behold your wife. Take [her] and go. BBE: Why did you say that she was your sister? so that I took her for my wife: now, take your wife and go on your way. KAV: 네가 어찌하여, 그녀는 내 누이라, 하였느냐? 내가 그녀를 취해 내 아내로 삼을 뻔하였도다. 그런즉 이제 네 아내를 보고 그녀를 데리고 네 길로 가라, 하며
19 Why did you say that she was your sister? so that I took her for my wife: now, take your wife and go on your way.
19 네가 어찌 그를 누이라 하여 나로 그를 취하여 아내를 삼게 하였느냐 네 아내가 여기 있으니 이제 데려가라 하고
20 And Pharaohcommandedhismen concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.[x]MKJV: And Pharaoh commanded men concerning him. And they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had. BBE: And Pharaoh gave orders to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and all he had.
