1 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself downbefore the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a verygreatcongregation of men and women and children: for the peopleweptverysore.
1 Now while Ezra was making his prayer and his statement of wrongdoing, weeping and falling down before the house of God, a very great number of men and women and children out of Israel came together round him: for the people were weeping bitterly.
1 에스라가 하나님의 전 앞에 엎드려 울며 기도하여 죄를 자복할 때에 많은 백성이 심히 통곡하매 이스라엘 중에서 백성의 남녀와 어린 아이의 큰 무리가 그 앞에 모인지라

2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have takenstrangewives of the people of the land: yet now there ishope in Israel concerning this thing.
2 And Shecaniah, the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answering, said to Ezra, We have done evil against our God, and have taken as our wives strange women of the peoples of the land: but still there is hope for Israel in this question.
2 엘람 자손중 여히엘의 아들 스가냐가 에스라에게 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님께 범죄하여 이 땅 이방 여자를 취하여 아내를 삼았으나 이스라엘에게 오히려 소망이 있나니

Yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing. 3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
3 Let us now make an agreement with our God to put away all the wives and all their children, if it seems right to my lord and to those who go in fear of the words of our God; and let it be done in keeping with the law.
3 곧 내 주의 교훈을 좇으며 우리 하나님의 명령을 떨며 준행하는 자의 의논을 좇아 이 모든 아내와 그 소생을 다 내어 보내기로 우리 하나님과 언약을 세우고 율법대로 행할 것이라

7 And they made proclamationㆍ throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

8 누구든지 방백들과 장로들의 훈시를 좇아 삼일 내에 오지 아니하면 그 재산을 적몰하고 사로잡혔던 자의 회에서 쫓아 내리라 하매

10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have takenstrangewives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

16 So those who had come back did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain heads of families, by their fathers' families, all of them by their names, were marked out; and on the first day of the tenth month they took their places to go into the question with care.
