1 In the third month after the children of Israel went out from Egypt, on the same day, they came into the waste land of Sinai.

3 And Moses went up to God, and the voice of the Lord came to him from the mountain, saying, Say to the family of Jacob, and give word to the children of Israel:

5 If now you will truly give ear to my voice and keep my agreement, you will be my special property out of all the peoples: for all the earth is mine:

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holynation. 7 And Moses came and sent for the chiefs of the people and put before them all these words which the Lord had given him orders to say.

8 And all the peopleansweredtogether, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses told the words of the people to the LORD. BBE: And the Lord said to Moses, See, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that what I say to you may come to the ears of the people and they may have belief in you for ever. BBE: And the Lord said to Moses, Go to the people and make them holy today and tomorrow, and let their clothing be washed. 11 And be ready against the thirdday: for the thirdday the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mountSinai.[x]MKJV: And be ready for the third day. For the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai. 12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go notup into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:[x]MKJV: And you shall set bounds to the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves. Do not go up into the mountain, or touch the border of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death. BBE: And let limits be marked out for the people round the mountain, and say to them, Take care not to go up the mountain or near the sides of it: whoever puts his foot on the mountain will certainly come to his death: KAV: 너는 백성을 위하여 사방에 경계를 정해 주고 이르기를, 너희는 스스로 조심하여 산에 오르거나 산의 경계에 닿지 말라. 누구든지 산에 닿는 자는 반드시 죽임을 당할 것이니라. 12 And let limits be marked out for the people round the mountain, and say to them, Take care not to go up the mountain or near the sides of it: whoever puts his foot on the mountain will certainly come to his death:

13 There shall not an handtouch it, but he shall surely be stoned, orshotthrough; whether it bebeastorman, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.[x]MKJV: There shall not be a hand to touch it, but that he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether beast or man, it shall not live. When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain. BBE: He is not to be touched by a hand, but is to be stoned or have an arrow put through him; man or beast, he is to be put to death: at the long sounding of a horn they may come up to the mountain. 14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.[x]MKJV: And Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people. And the voice of the trumpet was exceedingly loud, so that all the people in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.[x]MKJV: And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God. And they stood at the lower part of the mountain. 18 And mountSinai was altogether on a smoke, becausetheLORDdescended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountquakedgreatly.[x]MKJV: And Mount Sinai was smoking, all of it, because the LORD came down upon it in fire. And the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. 18 시내산에 연기가 자욱하니 여호와께서 불 가운데서 거기 강림하심이라 그 연기가 옹기점 연기 같이 떠오르고 온 산이 크게 진동하며
19 And when the voice of the trumpetsoundedlong, and waxed louder and louder, Mosesspake, and Godanswered him by a voice.[x]MKJV: And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and became very strong, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. 21 And the LORDsaid unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to Moses, Go down. Command the people, lest they break through to the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. BBE: And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and give the people orders to keep back, for fear that a great number of them, forcing their way through to see the Lord, may come to destruction. 21 And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and give the people orders to keep back, for fear that a great number of them, forcing their way through to see the Lord, may come to destruction.

22 And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.[x]MKJV: And let the priests also, who come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them. BBE: And let the priests who come near to the Lord make themselves holy, for fear that the Lord may come on them suddenly. 23 And Mosessaid unto the LORD, The peoplecannot come up to mountSinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.[x]MKJV: And Moses said to the LORD, The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai. For You commanded us, saying, Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it. BBE: And Moses said to the Lord, The people will not be able to come up the mountain, for you gave us orders to put limits round the mountain, marking it out and making it holy. 23 And Moses said to the Lord, The people will not be able to come up the mountain, for you gave us orders to put limits round the mountain, marking it out and making it holy.
23 모세가 여호와께 고하되 주께서 우리에게 명하여 이르시기를 산 사면에 지경을 세워 산을 거룩하게 하라 하셨사온즉 백성이 시내산에 오르지 못하리이다
24 And the LORDsaid unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to him, Away! You go down, and you shall come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest He break forth upon them. BBE: And the Lord said to him, Go down, and you and Aaron may come up; but let not the priests and the people make their way through to the Lord, or he will come on them suddenly.
