In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.1 In the third month after the children of Israel went out from Egypt, on the same day, they came into the waste land of Sinai.1 이스라엘 자손이 애굽 땅에서 나올때부터 제 삼월 곧 그 때에 그들이 시내 광야에 이르니라
For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.2 And when they had gone away from Rephidim and had come into the waste land of Sinai, they put up their tents in the waste land before the mountain: there Israel put up its tents.2 그들이 르비딤을 떠나 시내 광야에 이르러 그 광야에 장막을 치되 산 앞에 장막을 치니라
And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;3 And Moses went up to God, and the voice of the Lord came to him from the mountain, saying, Say to the family of Jacob, and give word to the children of Israel:3 모세가 하나님 앞에 올라가니 여호와께서 산에서 그를 불러 가라사대 너는 이같이 야곱 족속에게 이르고 이스라엘 자손에게 고하라
Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles wings, and brought you unto myself.4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I took you, as on eagles' wings, guiding you to myself.4 나의 애굽 사람에게 어떻게 행하였음과 내가 어떻게 독수리 날개로 너희를 업어 내게로 인도하였음을 너희가 보았느니라
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:5 If now you will truly give ear to my voice and keep my agreement, you will be my special property out of all the peoples: for all the earth is mine:5 세계가 다 내게 속하였나니 너희가 내 말을 잘 듣고 내 언약을 지키면 너희는 열국 중에서 내 소유가 되겠고
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.6 And you will be a kingdom of priests to me, and a holy nation. These are the words which you are to say to the children of Israel.6 너희가 내게 대하여 제사장 나라가 되며 거룩한 백성이 되리라 너는 이 말을 이스라엘 자손에게 고할찌니라
And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.7 And Moses came and sent for the chiefs of the people and put before them all these words which the Lord had given him orders to say.7 모세가 와서 백성의 장로들을 불러 여호와께서 자기에게 명하신 그 모든 말씀을 그 앞에 진술하니
And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.8 And all the people, answering together, said, Whatever the Lord has said we will do. And Moses took back to the Lord the words of the people.8 백성이 일제히 응답하여 가로되 여호와의 명하신대로 우리가 다 행하리이다 모세가 백성의 말로 여호와께 회보하매
And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.9 And the Lord said to Moses, See, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that what I say to you may come to the ears of the people and they may have belief in you for ever. And Moses gave the Lord word of what the people had said.9 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 내가 빽빽한 구름 가운데서 네게 임함은 내가 너와 말하는 것을 백성으로 듣게 하며 또한 너를 영영히 믿게 하려함이니라 모세가 백성의 말로 여호와께 고하였으므로
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,10 And the Lord said to Moses, Go to the people and make them holy today and tomorrow, and let their clothing be washed.10 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 백성에게로 가서 오늘과 내일 그들을 성결케 하며 그들로 옷을 빨고
And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.11 And by the third day let them be ready: for on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai, before the eyes of all the people.11 예비하여 제 삼일을 기다리게 하라 이는 제 삼일에 나 여호와가 온 백성의 목전에 시내산에 강림할 것임이니
And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:12 And let limits be marked out for the people round the mountain, and say to them, Take care not to go up the mountain or near the sides of it: whoever puts his foot on the mountain will certainly come to his death:12 너는 백성을 위하여 사면으로 지경을 정하고 이르기를 너희는 삼가 산에 오르거나 그 지경을 범하지 말찌니 산을 범하는 자는 정녕 죽임을 당할 것이라
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.13 He is not to be touched by a hand, but is to be stoned or have an arrow put through him; man or beast, he is to be put to death: at the long sounding of a horn they may come up to the mountain.13 손을 그에게 댐이 없이 그런 자는 돌에 맞아 죽임을 당하거나 살에 쐬어 죽임을 당하리니 짐승이나 사람을 무론하고 살지 못하리라 나팔을 길게 불거든 산 앞에 이를 것이니라 하라
And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.14 Then Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and made the people holy; and their clothing was washed.14 모세가 산에서 내려 백성에게 이르러 백성으로 성결케 하니 그들이 자기 옷을 빨더라
And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.15 And he said to the people, Be ready by the third day: do not come near a woman.15 모세가 백성에게 이르되 예비하여 제 삼일을 기다리고 여인을 가까이 말라 하니라
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.16 And when morning came on the third day, there were thunders and flames and a thick cloud on the mountain, and a horn sounding very loud; and all the people in the tents were shaking with fear.16 제 삼일 아침에 우뢰와 번개와 빽빽한 구름이 산 위에 있고 나팔 소리가 심히 크니 진중 모든 백성이 다 떨더라
And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.17 And Moses made the people come out of their tents and take their places before God; and they came to the foot of the mountain,17 모세가 하나님을 맞으려고 백성을 거느리고 진에서 나오매 그들이 산 기슭에 섰더니
And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.18 And all the mountain of Sinai was smoking, for the Lord had come down on it in fire: and the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a great burning; and all the mountain was shaking.18 시내산에 연기가 자욱하니 여호와께서 불 가운데서 거기 강림하심이라 그 연기가 옹기점 연기 같이 떠오르고 온 산이 크게 진동하며
And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.19 And when the sound of the horn became louder and louder, Moses' words were answered by the voice of God.19 나팔 소리가 점점 커질 때에 모세가 말한즉 하나님이 음성으로 대답하시더라
And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.20 Then the Lord came down on to Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain, and the Lord sent for Moses to come up to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.20 여호와께서 시내산 곧 그 산꼭대기에 강림하시고 그리로 모세를 부르시니 모세가 올라 가매
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.21 And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and give the people orders to keep back, for fear that a great number of them, forcing their way through to see the Lord, may come to destruction.21 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 내려가서 백성을 신칙하라 백성이 돌파하고 나 여호와께로 와서 보려고 하다가 많이 죽을까 하노라
And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.22 And let the priests who come near to the Lord make themselves holy, for fear that the Lord may come on them suddenly.22 또 여호와께 가까이 하는 제사장들로 그 몸을 성결히 하게 하라 나 여호와가 그들을 돌격할까 하노라
And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.23 And Moses said to the Lord, The people will not be able to come up the mountain, for you gave us orders to put limits round the mountain, marking it out and making it holy.23 모세가 여호와께 고하되 주께서 우리에게 명하여 이르시기를 산 사면에 지경을 세워 산을 거룩하게 하라 하셨사온즉 백성이 시내산에 오르지 못하리이다
And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.24 And the Lord said to him, Go down, and you and Aaron may come up; but let not the priests and the people make their way through to the Lord, or he will come on them suddenly.24 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 가라 너는 내려가서 아론과 함께 올라 오고 제사장들과 백성에게는 돌파하고 나 여호와에게로 올라오지 못하게 하라 내가 그들을 돌격할까 하노라
So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.25 So Moses went down to the people and said this to them.25 모세가 백성에게 내려가서 그들에게 고하니라
