2 So the people were angry with Moses, and said, Give us water for drinking. And Moses said, Why are you angry with me? and why do you put God to the test?

3 And the peoplethirsted there for water; and the peoplemurmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?[x]MKJV: And the people thirsted there for water. And the people murmured against Moses and said, Why [is] this, [that] You brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our sons and our cattle with thirst? BBE: And the people were in great need of water; and they made an outcry against Moses, and said, Why have you taken us out of Egypt to send death on us and our children and our cattle through need of water? 3 And the people were in great need of water; and they made an outcry against Moses, and said, Why have you taken us out of Egypt to send death on us and our children and our cattle through need of water?

They are almost ready to stone me. BBE: And Moses, crying out to the Lord, said, What am I to do to this people? they are almost ready to put me to death by stoning. 4 And Moses, crying out to the Lord, said, What am I to do to this people? they are almost ready to put me to death by stoning.

5 And the LORDsaid unto Moses, Go onbefore the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to Moses, Go on in front of the people, and take with you the elders of Israel. And take your rod with which you struck the river, in your hand, and go. BBE: And the Lord said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take some of the chiefs of Israel with you, and take in your hand the rod which was stretched out over the Nile, and go. 5 And the Lord said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take some of the chiefs of Israel with you, and take in your hand the rod which was stretched out over the Nile, and go.

6 Behold, I will standbefore thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall comewater out of it, that the people may drink. And Mosesdid so in the sight of the elders of Israel.[x]MKJV: Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb. And you shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, so that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. 6 내가 거기서 호렙산 반석 위에 너를 대하여 서리니 너는 반석을 치라 그것에서 물이 나리니 백성이 마시리라 모세가 이스라엘 장로들의 목전에서 그대로 행하니라
7 And he called the name of the placeMassah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORDamong us, or not?[x]MKJV: And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the wrangling of the sons of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us or not? BBE: And he gave that place the name Massah and Meribah, because the children of Israel were angry, and because they put the Lord to the test, saying, Is the Lord with us or not? 13 And JoshuadiscomfitedAmalek and his people with the edge of the sword.[x]MKJV: And Joshua defeated Amalek and his people by the mouth of the sword. BBE: And Joshua overcame Amalek and his people with the sword. KAV: 여호수아가 칼날로 아말렉과 그의 백성을 무찌르니라. 16 For he said, Because the LORD hath swornthat the LORDwill havewar with Amalek from generation to generation.[x]MKJV: And he said, A hand [is] on the throne of the LORD; war is to the LORD with Amalek from generation to generation.
