1 And they went on their way from Elim, and all the children of Israel came into the waste land of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they went out of the land of Egypt.

2 And all the children of Israel were crying out against Moses and Aaron in the waste land:

3 And the children of Israelsaid unto them, Would to Godㆍ we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots, and when we did eatbread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel said to them, O that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us forth into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger. BBE: And the children of Israel said to them, It would have been better for the Lord to have put us to death in the land of Egypt, where we were seated by the flesh-pots and had bread enough for our needs; for you have taken us out to this waste of sand, to put all this people to death through need of food. 3 And the children of Israel said to them, It would have been better for the Lord to have put us to death in the land of Egypt, where we were seated by the flesh-pots and had bread enough for our needs; for you have taken us out to this waste of sand, to put all this people to death through need of food.
3 그들에게 이르되 우리가 애굽 땅에서 고기 가마 곁에 앉았던 때와 떡을 배불리 먹던 때에 여호와의 손에 죽었더면 좋았을 것을 너희가 이 광야로 우리를 인도하여 내어 이 온 회중으로 주려 죽게 하는도다
4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rainbread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every dayㆍ, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.[x]MKJV: Then the LORD said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from the heavens for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain amount every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. BBE: Then the Lord said to Moses, See, I will send down bread from heaven for you; and the people will go out every day and get enough for the day's needs; so that I may put them to the test to see if they will keep my laws or not. KAV: ¶ 그때에 {주}께서 모세에게 이르시되, 보라, 내가 너희를 위하여 하늘에서 빵을 비같이 내리리니 백성이 날마다 나가서 정한 양을 거둘지니라. 이같이 하여 그들이 내 법 안에서 걷는지 걷지 아니하는지 내가 그들을 시험하리라. 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, See, I will send down bread from heaven for you; and the people will go out every day and get enough for the day's needs; so that I may put them to the test to see if they will keep my laws or not.
4 때에 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 보라 내가 너희를 위하여 하늘에서 양식을 비 같이 내리리니 백성이 나가서 일용할 것을 날마다 거둘 것이라 이같이 하여 그들이 나의 율법을 준행하나 아니하나 내가 시험하리라
5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixthday they shall preparethatwhich they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gatherdaily.[x]MKJV: And on the sixth day it shall happen, they shall prepare what they bring in. And it shall be twice as much as they gather day by day. BBE: And on the sixth day they are to make ready what they get in, and it will be twice as much as they get on the other days. 5 And on the sixth day they are to make ready what they get in, and it will be twice as much as they get on the other days.

6 And Moses and Aaronsaid unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:[x]MKJV: And Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, At evening, then you shall know that the LORD has brought you out from the land of Egypt. 7 And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what arewe, that ye murmur against us?[x]MKJV: And in the morning, then you shall see the glory of the LORD. For He hears your murmurings against the LORD. And what [are] we, that you murmur against us? BBE: And in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord; for your angry words against the Lord have come to his ears: and what are we that you are crying out against us? 8 And Mosessaid, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the eveningflesh to eat, and in the morningbread to the full; for that the LORDheareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what arewe? your murmuringsare not against us, but against the LORD.[x]MKJV: And Moses said, You will see when the LORD shall give you flesh to eat in the evening and bread to the full in the morning, when the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him. And what are we? Your murmurings [are] not against us, but against the LORD. BBE: And Moses said, The Lord will give you meat for your food at evening, and in the morning bread in full measure; for your outcry against the Lord has come to his ears: for what are we? your outcry is not against us but against the Lord. 8 모세가 또 가로되 여호와께서 저녁에는 너희에게 고기를 주어 먹이시고 아침에는 떡으로 배불리시리니 이는 여호와께서 자기를 향하여 너희의 원망하는 그 말을 들으셨음이니라 우리가 누구냐 너희의 원망은 우리를 향하여 함이 아니요 여호와를 향하여 함이로다
9 And Mosesspake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come nearbefore the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.[x]MKJV: And Moses spoke to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, Come near before the LORD. For He has heard your murmurings. BBE: And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the people of Israel, Come near before the Lord for he has given ear to your outcry. 9 And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the people of Israel, Come near before the Lord for he has given ear to your outcry.
9 모세가 또 아론에게 이르되 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 명하기를 여호와께 가까이 나아오라 여호와께서 너희의 원망함을 들으셨느니라 하라
10 And it came to pass, as Aaronspake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORDappeared in the cloud.[x]MKJV: And it happened as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, they turned toward the wilderness. And behold! The glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud! BBE: And while Aaron was talking to the children of Israel, their eyes were turned in the direction of the waste land, and they saw the glory of the Lord shining in the cloud. 11 And the LORDspake unto Moses, saying,[x]MKJV: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, BBE: And the Lord said to Moses, KAV: ¶ {주}께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되,

11 여호와께서 모세에게 일러 가라사대
12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At evenye shall eatflesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.[x]MKJV: I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel. Speak to them, saying, You shall eat flesh at evening, and in the morning you shall be filled [with] bread. And you shall know that I [am] the LORD your God. BBE: The outcry of the children of Israel has come to my ears: say to them now, At nightfall you will have meat for your food, and in the morning bread in full measure; and you will see that I am the Lord your God. KAV: 내가 이스라엘 자손이 불평하는 것을 들었노라. 그들에게 말하여 이르기를, 너희가 저녁에는 고기를 먹고 아침에는 빵으로 배부르리니 내가 {주} 너희 [하나님]인 줄을 너희가 알리라, 하라, 하시니라. 12 The outcry of the children of Israel has come to my ears: say to them now, At nightfall you will have meat for your food, and in the morning bread in full measure; and you will see that I am the Lord your God.
12 내가 이스라엘 자손의 원망함을 들었노라 그들에게 고하여 이르기를 너희가 해 질 때에는 고기를 먹고 아침에는 떡으로 배부르리니 나는 여호와 너희의 하나님인줄 알리라 하라 하시니라
13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dewlay round about the host.[x]MKJV: And it happened at evening, the quails came up and covered the camp. And in the morning the dew lay all around the host. BBE: And it came about that in the evening little birds came up and the place was covered with them: and in the morning there was dew all round about the tents. 13 And it came about that in the evening little birds came up and the place was covered with them: and in the morning there was dew all round about the tents.

14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wildernessthere lay a small round thing, assmall as the hoar frost on the ground.[x]MKJV: And when the layer of dew had gone up, behold, [there was] a small round thing upon the face of the wilderness, small as the hoar-frost upon the ground. BBE: And when the dew was gone, on the face of the earth was a small round thing, like small drops of ice on the earth. 14 And when the dew was gone, on the face of the earth was a small round thing, like small drops of ice on the earth.

15 And when the children of Israelsawit, they saidone to another, It ismanna: for they wist not what it was. And Mosessaid unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.[x]MKJV: And when the sons of Israel saw, they said each one to his brother, What [is] that? For they did not know what it [was]. And Moses said to them, This [is] the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. BBE: And when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, What is it? for they had no idea what it was. 16 This is the thingwhich the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every manaccording to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.[x]MKJV: This [is] the thing which the LORD has commanded: Each man gather of it according to his eating, an omer for a head, according to the number of your souls. Each one shall take for those who [are] in his camp. BBE: This is what the Lord has said, Let every man take up as much as he has need of; at the rate of one omer for every person, let every man take as much as is needed for his family. KAV: ¶ {주}께서 명령하신 것이 이러하니라. 곧, 각 사람이 자기가 먹을 만큼 그것을 거둘지니 즉 너희 사람 수대로 각 사람이 일 오멜씩 취하되 너희 각 사람이 자기 장막에 있는 자들을 위하여 취할지니라, 하셨느니라. TSK: omer: ex 16:18,33,36
16 This is what the Lord has said, Let every man take up as much as he has need of; at the rate of one omer for every person, let every man take as much as is needed for his family.

17 And the children of Israeldid so, and gathered, some more, some less.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, and some less. BBE: And the children of Israel did so, and some took more and some less. KAV: 이스라엘 자손이 그와 같이 하여 거두되 많이 거두는 자도 있었고 적게 거두는 자도 있었으나
17 And the children of Israel did so, and some took more and some less.
17 이스라엘 자손이 그같이 하였더니 그 거둔 것이 많기도 하고 적기도 하나
18 And when they did meteit with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every manaccording to his eating.[x]MKJV: And when they measured with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little lacked nothing. They gathered each one according to his eating. BBE: And when it was measured, he who had taken up much had nothing over, and he who had little had enough; every man had taken what he was able to make use of. KAV: 오멜로 그것을 되어 보니 많이 거둔 자도 남지 아니하고 적게 거둔 자도 모자라지 아니하여 그들이 각각 자기가 먹을 만큼 거두었더라. 18 And when it was measured, he who had taken up much had nothing over, and he who had little had enough; every man had taken what he was able to make use of.
18 오멜로 되어 본즉 많이 거둔 자도 남음이 없고 적게 거둔 자도 부족함이 없이 각기 식량대로 거두었더라
19 And Mosessaid, Let no manleave of it till the morning.[x]MKJV: And Moses said, Let no man leave of it until the morning. BBE: And Moses said to them, Let nothing be kept till the morning. KAV: 모세가 그들에게 이르기를, 아무도 아침까지 그것을 남겨 두지 말라, 하였으나 TSK: And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.: ex 12:10, ex 23:18, mt 6:34
19 And Moses said to them, Let nothing be kept till the morning.
19 모세가 그들에게 이르기를 아무든지 아침까지 그것을 남겨 두지 말라 하였으나
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bredworms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.[x]MKJV: But they did not listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning. And it became rotten [with] maggots, and stank. And Moses was angry with them. BBE: But they gave no attention to Moses, and some of them kept it till the morning and there were worms in it and it had an evil smell: and Moses was angry with them. KAV: 그럼에도 불구하고 그들이 모세의 말에 귀를 기울이지 아니하고 그들 가운데 몇 사람이 그것을 아침까지 남겨 두었더니 거기서 벌레가 생기고 냄새가 나므로 모세가 그들에게 노하니라. 20 But they gave no attention to Moses, and some of them kept it till the morning and there were worms in it and it had an evil smell: and Moses was angry with them.
20 그들이 모세의 말을 청종치 아니하고 더러는 아침까지 두었더니 벌레가 생기고 냄새가 난지라 모세가 그들에게 노하니라
21 And they gathered it every morning, every manaccording to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.[x]MKJV: And they gathered it every morning, each man according to his eating. And when the sun became hot, it melted. BBE: And they took it up morning by morning, every man as he had need: and when the sun was high it was gone. KAV: 그들이 아침마다 그것을 거두되 각 사람이 자기가 먹을 만큼 거두었고 해가 뜨겁게 되면 그것이 녹았더라. 21 And they took it up morning by morning, every man as he had need: and when the sun was high it was gone.

22 And it came to pass, that on the sixthday they gatheredtwice as much bread, twoomers for oneman: and all the rulers of the congregationcame and toldMoses.[x]MKJV: And it happened, on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. BBE: And on the sixth day they took up twice as much of the bread, two omers for every person: and all the rulers of the people gave Moses word of it. 22 And on the sixth day they took up twice as much of the bread, two omers for every person: and all the rulers of the people gave Moses word of it.

23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrowis the rest of the holysabbath unto the LORD: bakethat which ye will baketo day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.[x]MKJV: And he said to them, This [is that] which the LORD has said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath to the LORD. Bake what you will bake [today], and boil what you will boil. And that which remains over, lay up for you to be kept until the morning. BBE: And he said, This is what the Lord has said, Tomorrow is a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord: what has to be cooked may be cooked; and what is over, put on one side to be kept till the morning. 23 And he said, This is what the Lord has said, Tomorrow is a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord: what has to be cooked may be cooked; and what is over, put on one side to be kept till the morning.
23 모세가 그들에게 이르되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 내일은 휴식이니 여호와께 거룩한 안식일이라 너희가 구울 것은 굽고 삶을 것은 삶고 그 나머지는 다 너희를 위하여 아침까지 간수하라
24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Mosesbade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.[x]MKJV: And they laid it up until the morning, as Moses said.
