1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,1 Give ear, O Israel: today you are to go over Jordan, to take the heritage of nations greater and stronger than yourselves, and towns of great size with walls as high as heaven;1 이스라엘아 들으라 네가 오늘 요단을 건너 너보다 강대한 나라들로 들어가서 그것을 얻으리니 그 성읍들은 크고 성벽은 하늘에 닿았으며
2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!2 A people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, of whom you have knowledge and of whom it has been said, All are forced to give way before the sons of Anak.2 그 백성은 네가 아는바 장대한 아낙 자손이라 그에게 대한 말을 네가 들었나니 이르기를 누가 아낙 자손을 능히 당하리요 하거니와
3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.3 Be certain then today that it is the Lord your God who goes over before you like an all-burning fire; he will send destruction on them, crushing them before you; and you will send them in flight, putting an end to them quickly, as the Lord has said.3 오늘날 너는 알라 네 하나님 여호와께서 맹렬한 불과 같이 네 앞에 나아가신즉 여호와께서 그들을 파하사 네 앞에 엎드러지게 하시리니 여호와께서 네게 말씀하신것 같이 너는 그들을 쫓아내며 속히 멸할 것이라
4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.4 And after the Lord has sent them in flight from before you, say not in your heart, Because of my righteousness the Lord has given me this land; when it is because of their evil-doing that the Lord is driving these nations out before you.4 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내신 후에 네가 심중에 이르기를 나의 의로움을 인하여 여호와께서 나를 이 땅으로 인도하여 들여서 그것을 얻게 하셨다 하지 말라 실상은 이 민족들이 악함을 인하여 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내심이니라
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.5 Not for your righteousness or because your hearts are upright are you going in to take their land; but because of the evil-doing of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and to give effect to his oath to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.5 네가 가서 그 땅을 얻음은 너의 의로움을 인함도 아니며 네 마음이 정직함을 인함도 아니요 이 민족들의 악함을 인하여 네 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내심이라 여호와께서 이같이 하심은 네 열조 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 하신 맹세를 이루려 하심이니라
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked ㆍ people.6 Be certain then that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land as a reward for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.6 그러므로 네가 알 것은 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 이 아름다운 땅을 기업으로 주신 것이 네 의로움을 인함이 아니니라 너는 목이 곧은 백성이니라
7 Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.7 Keep well in mind how you made the Lord your God angry in the waste land; from the day when you went out of Egypt till you came to this place, you have gone against the orders of the Lord.7 너는 광야에서 네 하나님 여호와를 격노케 하던 일을 잊지 말고 기억하라 네가 애굽땅에서 나오던 날부터 이곳에 이르기까지 늘 여호와를 거역하였으되
8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.8 Again in Horeb you made the Lord angry, and in his wrath he would have put an end to you.8 호렙산에서 너희가 여호와를 격노케 하였으므로 여호와께서 진노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨느니라
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:9 When I had gone up into the mountain to be given the stones on which was recorded the agreement which the Lord made with you, I was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights without taking food or drinking water.9 그 때에 내가 돌판들 곧 여호와께서 너희와 세우신 언약의 돌판들을 받으려고 산에 올라가서 사십 주야를 산에 거하며 떡도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였더니
10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.10 And the Lord gave me the two stones with writing on them done by the finger of God: on them were recorded all the words which the Lord said to you on the mountain out of the heart of the fire, on the day of the great meeting.10 여호와께서 두 돌판을 내게 주셨나니 그 판의 글은 하나님이 친수로 기록하신 것이요 너희 총회 날에 여호와께서 산상 불 가운데서 너희에게 이르신 모든 말씀이니라
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.11 Then at the end of forty days and forty nights the Lord gave me those stones, the stones of the agreement.11 사십 주야가 지난 후에 여호와께서 내게 돌판 곧 언약의 두 돌판을 주시고
12 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.12 And the Lord said to me, Get up now, and go down quickly from this place; for the people you have taken out of Egypt have given themselves over to evil; they have quickly been turned from the way in which I gave them orders to go; they have made themselves a metal image.12 내게 이르시되 일어나 여기서 속히 내려가라 네가 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 내 백성이 스스로 부패하여 내가 그들에게 명한 도를 속히 떠나 자기를 위하여 우상을 부어 만들었느니라
13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked ㆍ people:13 And then the Lord said to me, I have seen that this people is stiff-necked:13 여호와께서 또 내게 일러 가라사대 내가 이 백성을 보았노라 보라 이는 목이 곧은 백성이니라
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.14 Let me send destruction on them till their very name is cut off; and I will make of you a nation greater and stronger than they.14 나를 막지 말라 내가 그들을 멸하여 그 이름을 천하에서 도말하고 너로 그들보다 강대한 나라가 되게 하리라 하시기로
15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.15 So turning round I came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire; and the two stones of the agreement were in my hands.15 내가 돌이켜 산에서 내려오는데 산에는 불이 붙었고 언약의 두 돌판은 내 손에 있었느니라
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.16 And I saw that you had done evil against the Lord, and had made for yourselves a metal image of a young ox: you had quickly been turned from the way in which the Lord had given you orders to go.16 내가 본즉 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와께 범죄하여 자기를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들어서 급속히 여호와의 명하신 도를 떠났기로
17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.17 And I let the stones go from my hands, and they were broken before your eyes.17 내가 그 두 돌판을 내 두 손에서 들어 던져 너희의 목전에서 깨뜨렸었노라
18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.18 And I went down on my face before the Lord, as at the first, for forty days and forty nights, without taking food or drinking water, because of all your sin, in doing evil in the eyes of the Lord and moving him to wrath.18 그리고 내가 전과 같이 사십 주야를 여호와 앞에 엎드려서 떡도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였으니 이는 너희가 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하여 그를 격노케 하여 크게 죄를 얻었음이라
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.19 For I was full of fear because of the wrath of the Lord which was burning against you, with your destruction in view. But again the Lord's ear was open to my prayer.19 여호와께서 심히 분노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨으므로 내가 두려워 하였었노라 그러나 여호와께서 그 때에도 내 말을 들으셨고
20 And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.20 And the Lord, in his wrath, would have put Aaron to death: and I made prayer for Aaron at the same time.20 여호와께서 또 아론에게 진노하사 그를 멸하려 하셨으므로 내가 그 때에도 아론을 위하여 기도하고
21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.21 And I took your sin, the image which you had made, and put it in the fire and had it hammered and crushed very small till it was only dust: and the dust I put in the stream flowing down from the mountain.21 너희의 죄 곧 너희의 만든 송아지를 취하여 불살라 찧고 티끌 같이 가늘게 갈아 그 가루를 산에서 흘러내리는 시내에 뿌렸었느니라
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.22 Again at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah you made the Lord angry.22 너희가 다베라와 맛사와 기브롯 핫다아와에서도 여호와를 격노케 하였느니라
23 Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.23 And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and take the land which I have given you; you went against the orders of the Lord your God, and had no faith in him, and would not give ear to his voice.23 여호와께서 너희를 가데스 바네아에서 떠나게 하실 때에 이르시기를 너희는 올라가서 내가 너희에게 준 땅을 얻으라 하시되 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와의 명령을 거역하여 믿지 아니하고 그 말씀을 듣지 아니하였나니
24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.24 From the day when I first had knowledge of you, you have gone against the word of the Lord.24 내가 너희를 알던 날부터 오므로 너희가 항상 여호와를 거역하였느니라
25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.25 So I went down on my face in prayer before the Lord for forty days and forty nights as I did at first; because the Lord had said that he would put an end to you.25 그 때에 여호와께서 너희를 멸하겠다 하셨으므로 내가 여전히 사십 주야를 여호와 앞에 엎드리고
26 I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.26 And I made prayer to the Lord and said, O Lord God, do not send destruction on your people and your heritage, to whom, by your great power, you have given salvation, whom you have taken out of Egypt by the strength of your hand.26 여호와께 간구하여 가로되 주 여호와여 주께서 큰 위엄으로 속하시고 강한 손으로 애굽에서 인도하여 내신 주의 백성 곧 주의 기업을 멸하지 마옵소서
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:27 Keep in mind your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not looking at the hard heart of this people, or their evil-doing and their sin:27 주의 종 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 생각하사 이 백성의 강퍅과 악과 죄를 보지 마옵소서
28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.28 Or it may be said in the land from which you have taken them, Because the Lord was not able to take them into the land which he said he would give them, and because of his hate for them, he has taken them out to put them to death in the waste land.28 주께서 우리를 인도하여 내신 그 땅 백성이 말하기를 여호와께서 그들에게 허락하신 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들일 능력도 없고 그들을 미워도 하사 광야에서 죽이려고 인도하여 내셨다 할까 두려워하나이다
29 Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.29 But still they are your people and your heritage, whom you took out by your great power and by your stretched-out arm.29 그들은 주의 큰 능력과 펴신 팔로 인도하여 내신 주의 백성 곧 주의 기업이로소이다 하였었노라
