1 사람과 사람 사이에 시비가 생겨서 재판을 청하거든 재판장은 그들을 재판하여 의인은 의롭다 하고 악인은 정죄할 것이며
2 And it shall be, if the wicked manbeworthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.[x]MKJV: then it shall be, if the wrongdoer [is] worthy to be beaten, the judge shall cause him to fall down. And one shall strike him in his presence, enough for his wrong, by a certain number. 3 He may be given forty blows, not more; for if more are given, your brother may be shamed before you.

4 Do not keep the ox from taking the grain when he is crushing it.
4 곡식 떠는 소의 입에 망을 씌우지 말찌니라

5 If brothers are living together and one of them, at his death, has no son, the wife of the dead man is not to be married outside the family to another man: let her husband's brother go in to her and make her his wife, doing as it is right for a brother-in-law to do.
5 형제가 동거하는데 그 중 하나가 죽고 아들이 없거든 그 죽은 자의 아내는 나가서 타인에게 시집가지 말 것이요 그 남편의 형제가 그에게로 들어가서 그를 취하여 아내를 삼아 그의 남편의 형제 된 의무를 그에게 다 행할 것이요
6 And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brotherwhich isdead, that his name be not put out of Israel.[x]MKJV: And it shall be, the first-born whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his dead brother, so that his name may not be put out of Israel. 6 Then the first male child she has will take the rights of the brother who is dead, so that his name may not come to an end in Israel.

7 And if the manlike not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brotherrefuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.[x]MKJV: And if the man does not want to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate to the elders and say, My husband's brother refuses to raise up a name in Israel to his brother. 7 But if the man says he will not take his brother's wife, then let the wife go to the responsible men of the town, and say, My husband's brother will not keep his brother's name living in Israel; he will not do what it is right for a husband's brother to do.
7 그러나 그 사람이 만일 그 형제의 아내 취하기를 즐겨하지 아니하거든 그 형제의 아내는 그 성문 장로들에게로 나아가서 말하기를 내 남편의 형제가 그 형제의 이름을 이스라엘 중에 잇기를 싫어하여 남편의 형제된 의무를 내게 행치 아니하나이다 할 것이요
8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he standto it, and say, I like not to take her;[x]MKJV: Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him. 8 Then the responsible men of the town will send for the man, and have talk with him: and if he still says, I will not take her;

9 그 형제의 아내가 장로들 앞에서 그에게 나아가서 그의 발에서 신을 벗기고 그 얼굴에 침을 뱉으며 이르기를 그 형제의 집 세우기를 즐겨 아니하는 자에게는 이같이 할 것이라 할 것이며
10 And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoeloosed.[x]MKJV: And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe taken off. BBE: And his family will be named in Israel, The house of him whose shoe has been taken off. KAV: 이스라엘 안에서 그의 이름을 신 벗겨진 자의 집이라 할 것이니라.
