1 If, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you come across the dead body of a man in the open country, and you have no idea who has put him to death:

2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:[x]MKJV: then your elders and your judges shall come forth. 2 Then your responsible men and your judges are to come out, and give orders for the distance from the dead body to the towns round about it to be measured;

3 And it shall be, that the citywhich isnext unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heiferㆍ, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;[x]MKJV: And it shall be, the city nearest to the slain one, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer which has not been worked with, which has not drawn in the yoke. 4 And they are to take the cow into a valley where there is flowing water, and which is not ploughed or planted, and there the neck of the cow is to be broken:

7 Will say, This death is not the work of our hands and our eyes have not seen it.

8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy peopleIsrael, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocentblood unto thy people of Israel'scharge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.[x]MKJV: Be merciful, O LORD, to Your people Israel, whom You have redeemed, and do not lay innocent blood to the charge of Your people Israel. And the blood shall be forgiven them. BBE: Have mercy, O Lord, on your people Israel whom you have made free, and take away from your people the crime of a death without cause. Then they will no longer be responsible for the man's death. 8 Have mercy, O Lord, on your people Israel whom you have made free, and take away from your people the crime of a death without cause. Then they will no longer be responsible for the man's death.
8 여호와여 주께서 속량하신 주의 백성 이스라엘을 사하시고 무죄한 피를 주의 백성 이스라엘 중에 머물러 두지 마옵소서 하면 그 피 흘린 죄가 사함을 받으리니
9 So shalt thou put away the guilt ofinnocentblood from among you, when thou shalt dothat which isright in the sight of the LORD.[x]MKJV: So you shall put away innocent blood from among you, when you do the right in the sight of the LORD. 9 So you will take away the crime of a death without cause from among you, when you do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.

11 If among the prisoners you see a beautiful woman and it is your desire to make her your wife;

14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.[x]MKJV: And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she will. But you shall not sell her at all for silver, you shall not make a slave of her, because you have humbled her. 18 사람에게 완악하고 패역한 아들이 있어 그 아비의 말이나 그 어미의 말을 순종치 아니하고 부모가 징책하여도 듣지 아니하거든
19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;[x]MKJV: then his father and his mother shall lay hold on him and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place. 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou putevilaway from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.[x]MKJV: And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones so that he dies. So shall you put evil away from you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. BBE: Then he is to be stoned to death by all the men of the town: so you are to put away the evil from among you; and all Israel, hearing of it, will be full of fear. KAV: 그의 도시의 모든 사람이 그를 돌로 쳐서 죽일지니 너는 이같이 하여 너희 가운데서 악을 제거할지니라. 그리하면 온 이스라엘이 듣고 두려워하리라. 21 Then he is to be stoned to death by all the men of the town: so you are to put away the evil from among you; and all Israel, hearing of it, will be full of fear.

23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wisebury him that day; (for he that is hangedisaccursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy Godgiveth thee for an inheritance.[x]MKJV: his body shall not remain all night on the tree. But you shall surely bury him that day (for he that [is] hanged is accursed of God), so that your land may not be defiled, which the LORD your God gives you [for] an inheritance. 23 그 시체를 나무 위에 밤새도록 두지 말고 당일에 장사하여 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 기업으로 주시는 땅을 더럽히지 말라 나무에 달린 자는 하나님께 저주를 받았음이니라
