1 Then we went back, journeying into the waste land by the way to the Red Sea, as the Lord had said to me: and we were a long time going round Mount Seir.

Giants lived there in past times. And the Ammonites call them Zamzumim, BBE: (That land is said to have been a land of the Rephaim, for Rephaim had been living there in earlier times, but they were named Zamzummim by the Ammonites; KAV: (옛날에 거인들이 그 안에 거하였으므로 사람들이 그곳 또한 거인들의 땅으로 여겼으며 암몬 족속은 그들을 삼숨 족속이라 불렀느니라. And they expelled them and lived in their place even to this day. 26 Then from the waste land of Kedemoth I sent representatives to Sihon, king of Heshbon, with words of peace, saying,

27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high wayㆍ, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.[x]MKJV: Let me pass through your land. I will go along by the highway. I will neither turn [to] the right hand nor to the left. 29 세일에 거하는 에서 자손과 아르에 거하는 모압 사람이 내게 행한것 같이 하라 그리하면 내가 요단을 건너서 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리에게 주시는 땅에 이르리라 하나
30 But Sihonking of Heshbonwould not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy Godhardened his spirit, and made his heartobstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.[x]MKJV: But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him. For the LORD your God hardened his spirit and made his heart stubborn so that He might deliver him into your hand, as [it is] this day. BBE: But Sihon, king of Heshbon, would not let us go through; for the Lord your God made his spirit hard and his heart strong, so that he might give him up into your hands as at this day. 30 But Sihon, king of Heshbon, would not let us go through; for the Lord your God made his spirit hard and his heart strong, so that he might give him up into your hands as at this day.
30 헤스본 왕 시혼이 우리의 통과하기를 허락지 아니하였으니 이는 너의 하나님 여호와께서 그를 네 손에 붙이시려고 그 성품을 완강케 하셨고 그 마음을 강퍅케 하셨음이라 오늘날과 같으니라
31 And the LORDsaid unto me, Behold, I have begun to giveSihon and his landbefore thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before you. Begin to possess it so that you may inherit his land. BBE: And the Lord said to me, See, from now on I have given Sihon and his land into your hands: go forward now to take his land and make it yours. 36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our Goddelivered all unto us:[x]MKJV: From Aroer, by the brink of the river of Arnon, and the city by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us. The LORD our God delivered all to us. 36 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그 모든 땅을 우리에게 붙이심으로 아르논 골짜기 가에 있는 아로엘과 골짜기 가운데 있는 성읍으로부터 길르앗에까지 우리가 모든 높은 성읍을 취하지 못한 것이 하나도 없었으나
37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the riverJabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our Godforbad us.[x]MKJV: Only to the land of the sons of Ammon you did not come, to any place of the river Jabbok, nor to the cities in the mountains, nor to whatever the LORD our God denied us. BBE: But you did not go near the land of the children of Ammon, that is, all the side of the river Jabbok or the towns of the hill-country, wherever the Lord our God had said we were not to go. 37 But you did not go near the land of the children of Ammon, that is, all the side of the river Jabbok or the towns of the hill-country, wherever the Lord our God had said we were not to go.
37 오직 암몬 족속의 땅 얍복강 가와 산지에 있는 성읍들과 무릇 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리의 가기를 금하신 곳은 네가 가까이 하지 못하였느니라
