1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.	1 And Saul gave approval to his death. 3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling ㆍ men and women committed them to prison.	3 But Saul was burning with hate against the church, going into every house and taking men and women and putting them in prison.	3 사울이 교회를 잔멸할쌔 각집에 들어가 남녀를 끌어다가 옥에 넘기니라

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.	4 But those who had gone in flight went everywhere preaching the word.	4 그 흩어진 사람들이 두루 다니며 복음의 말씀을 전할쌔

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.	5 And Philip went down to Samaria and was teaching them about Christ.	5 빌립이 사마리아 성에 내려가 그리스도를 백성에게 전파하니

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake ㆍ, hearing ㆍ ㆍ and seeing the miracles which he did.	6 And all the people gave attention to the words which Philip said, when they saw the signs which he did.	6 무리가 빌립의 말도 듣고 행하는 표적도 보고 일심으로 그의 말하는 것을 좇더라

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.	7 For unclean spirits came out from those who had them, crying with a loud voice; and a number of those who were ill and broken in body were made well.	7 많은 사람에게 붙었던 더러운 귀신들이 크게 소리를 지르며 나가고 또 많은 중풍병자와 앉은뱅이가 나으니

8 And there was great joy in that city.	8 And there was much joy in that town.	8 그 성에 큰 기쁨이 있더라

9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:	9 But there was a certain man named Simon, who in the past had been a wonder-worker and a cause of surprise to the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was a great man:	9 그 성에 시몬이라 하는 사람이 전부터 있어 마술을 행하여 사마리아 백성을 놀라게 하며 자칭 큰 자라 하니

10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.	10 To whom they all gave attention, from the smallest to the greatest, saying, This man is that power of God which is named Great.	10 낮은 사람부터 높은 사람까지 다 청종하여 가로되 이 사람은 크다 일컫는 하나님의 능력이라 하더라

11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.	11 And they gave attention to him, because for a long time his wonder-working powers had kept them under his control.	11 오래 동안 그 마술에 놀랐으므로 저희가 청종하더니

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.	12 But when they had faith in the good news given by Philip about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, a number of men and women had baptism.	12 빌립이 하나님 나라와 및 예수 그리스도의 이름에 관하여 전도함을 저희가 믿고 남녀가 다 세례를 받으니

13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued ㆍ with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.	13 And Simon himself had faith and, having had baptism, he went with Philip and, seeing the signs and the great wonders which he did, he was full of surprise.	13 시몬도 믿고 세례를 받은 후에 전심으로 빌립을 따라 다니며 그 나타나는 표적과 큰 능력을 보고 놀라니라

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:	14 Now when the Apostles at Jerusalem had news that the people of Samaria had taken the word of God into their hearts, they sent to them Peter and John;	14 예루살렘에 있는 사도들이 사마리아도 하나님의 말씀을 받았다 함을 듣고 베드로와 요한을 보내매

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:	15 Who, when they came there, made prayer for them, that the Holy Spirit might be given to them:	15 그들이 내려가서 저희를 위하여 성령 받기를 기도하니

16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)	16 For up to that time he had not come on any of them; only baptism had been given to them in the name of the Lord Jesus.	16 이는 아직 한 사람에게도 성령 내리신 일이 없고 오직 주 예수의 이름으로 세례만 받을 뿐이러라

17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.	17 Then they put their hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came on them.	17 이에 두 사도가 저희에게 안수하매 성령을 받는지라

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,	18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the touch of the Apostles' hands, he made them an offering of money, saying,	18 시몬이 사도들의 안수함으로 성령 받는 것을 보고 돈을 드려

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.	19 Give me this power, so that when I put my hands on anyone he may get the Holy Spirit.	19 가로되 이 권능을 내게도 주어 누구든지 내가 안수하는 사람은 성령을 받게 하여 주소서 하니

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish ㆍ with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.	20 But Peter said, May your money come to destruction with you, because you had the idea that what is freely given by God may be got for a price.	20 베드로가 가로되 네가 하나님의 선물을 돈 주고 살 줄로 생각하였으니 네 은과 네가 함께 망할찌어다

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.	21 You have no part in this business, because your heart is not right before God.	21 하나님 앞에서 네 마음이 바르지 못하니 이 도에는 네가 관계도 없고 분깃 될 것도 없느니라

22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.	22 Let your heart be changed, and make prayer to God that you may have forgiveness for your evil thoughts.	22 그러므로 너의 이 악함을 회개하고 주께 기도하라 혹 마음에 품은 것을 사하여 주시리라

23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.	23 For I see that you are prisoned in bitter envy and the chains of sin.	23 내가 보니 너는 악독이 가득하며 불의에 매인바 되었도다

24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.	24 And Simon, answering, said, Make prayer for me to the Lord, so that these things which you have said may not come on me.	24 시몬이 대답하여 가로되 나를 위하여 주께 기도하여 말한 것이 하나도 내게 임하지 말게 하소서 하니라

25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.	25 So they, having given their witness and made clear the word of the Lord, went back to Jerusalem, giving the good news on their way in a number of the small towns of Samaria.	25 두 사도가 주의 말씀을 증거하여 말한 후 예루살렘으로 돌아갈새 사마리아인의 여러 촌에서 복음을 전하니라

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.	26 But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, Get up, and go to the south, to the road which goes from Jerusalem to Gaza, through the waste land.	26 주의 사자가 빌립더러 일러 가로되 일어나서 남으로 향하여 예루살렘에서 가사로 내려가는 길까지 가라 하니 그 길은 광야라

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,	27 And he went and there was a man of Ethiopia, a servant of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, and controller of all her property, who had come up to Jerusalem for worship;	27 일어나 가서 보니 에디오피아 사람 곧 에디오피아 여왕 간다게의 모든 국고를 맡은 큰 권세가 있는 내시가 예배하러 예루살렘에 왔다가

28 ㆍ Was returning, and sitting in his chariot ㆍ read Esaias the prophet.	28 He was going back, seated in his carriage, and was reading the book of the prophet Isaiah.	28 돌아 가는데 병거를 타고 선지자 이사야의 글을 읽더라

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.	29 And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near, and get on his carriage.	29 성령이 빌립더러 이르시되 이 병거로 가까이 나아가라 하시거늘

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou ㆍ ㆍ what thou readest?	30 And Philip, running up to him, saw that he was reading Isaiah the prophet, and said to him, Is the sense of what you are reading clear to you?	30 빌립이 달려가서 선지자 이사야의 글 읽는 것을 듣고 말하되 읽는 것을 깨닫느뇨

31 And he said, How can I ㆍ, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.	31 And he said, How is that possible when I have no guide? And he made Philip get up by his side.	31 대답하되 지도하는 사람이 없으니 어찌 깨달을 수 있느뇨 하고 빌립을 청하여 병거에 올라 같이 앉으라 하니라

32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:	32 Now the place in the book where he was reading was this: He was taken, like a sheep, to be put to death; and as a lamb is quiet when its wool is being cut, so he made no sound:	32 읽는 성경 귀절은 이것이니 일렀으되 저가 사지로 가는 양과 같이 끌리었고 털 깎는 자 앞에 있는 어린 양의 잠잠함과 같이 그 입을 열지 아니하였도다

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.	33 Being of low degree, his cause was not given a hearing: who has knowledge of his family? for his life is cut off from the earth.	33 낮을 때에 공변된 판단을 받지 못하였으니 누가 가히 그 세대를 말하리요 그 생명이 땅에서 빼앗김이로다 하였거늘

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?	34 And the Ethiopian said to Philip, About whom are these words said by the prophet? about himself, or some other?	34 내시가 빌립더러 말하되 청컨대 묻노니 선지자가 이 말 한 것이 누구를 가리킴이뇨 자기를 가리킴이뇨 타인을 가리킴이뇨

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.	35 So Philip, starting from this writing, gave him the good news about Jesus.	35 빌립이 입을 열어 이 글에서 시작하여 예수를 가르쳐 복음을 전하니

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?	36 And while they were going on their way, they came to some water, and the Ethiopian said, See, here is water; why may I not have baptism?	36 길 가다가 물 있는 곳에 이르러 내시가 말하되 보라 물이 있으니 내가 세례를 받음에 무슨 거리낌이 있느뇨

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.	37 []	37 (없음)

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.	38 And he gave orders for the carriage to be stopped, and the two of them went down into the water, and Philip gave him baptism.	38 이에 명하여 병거를 머물고 빌립과 내시가 둘 다 물에 내려가 빌립이 세례를 주고

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip ㆍ, that the eunuch saw ㆍ him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.	39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took Philip away; and the Ethiopian saw him no more, for he went on his way full of joy.	39 둘이 물에서 올라갈새 주의 영이 빌립을 이끌어 간지라 내시는 흔연히 길을 가므로 그를 다시 보지 못하니라

40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.	40 But Philip came to Azotus, and went through all the towns, preaching the good news, till he came to Caesarea.	40 빌립은 아소도에 나타나 여러 성을 지나 다니며 복음을 전하고 가이사랴에 이르니라

KJ English(1611년~)는 셰익스피어의 영어문장처럼 현대 영문법과 약간 다릅니다. 하지만 몇 가지 차이만 알면 오히려 요즘 영어문장보다 더 정확한 내용 이해와 문장의 맛을 느낄 수 있습니다.

상대편(2인칭)에게 말할 때 단수, 복수를 구분합니다. 복수(너희)이면 ye, you, your, yours, yourself를, 단수(너)이면 thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself입니다. 요즘 영어와 달리 "너"와 "너희"가 명확히 구분됩니다!
3인칭 현재동사는 -th나 -eth로 끝나는데 요즘 영어문장에서 -s나 -es와 같습니다.
-st나 -est로 끝나는 동사는 직설법을 말하는 데, 생략하고 읽으면 됩니다.
