The apostle solemnly charges Timothy to be diligent, though many will not bear sound doctrine. (1-5) Enforces the charge from his own martyrdom, then at hand. (6-8) Desires him to come speedily. (9-13) He cautions, and complains of such as had deserted him; and expresses his faith as to his own preservation to the heavenly kingdom. (14-18) Friendly greetings and his usual blessing. (19-22)
KJV BBE KRV
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;1 I give you orders, before God and Christ Jesus, who will be the judge of the living and the dead, and by his revelation and his kingdom;1 하나님 앞과 산 자와 죽은 자를 심판하실 그리스도 예수 앞에서 그의 나타나실 것과 그의 나라를 두고 엄히 명하노니
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.2 Be preaching the word at all times, in every place; make protests, say sharp words, give comfort, with long waiting and teaching;2 너는 말씀을 전파하라 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 항상 힘쓰라 범사에 오래 참음과 가르침으로 경책하며 경계하며 권하라
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;3 For the time will come when they will not take the true teaching; but, moved by their desires, they will get for themselves a great number of teachers for the pleasure of hearing them;3 때가 이르리니 사람이 바른 교훈을 받지 아니하며 귀가 가려워서 자기의 사욕을 좇을 스승을 많이 두고
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.4 And shutting their ears to what is true, will be turned away to belief in foolish stories.4 또 그 귀를 진리에서 돌이켜 허탄한 이야기를 좇으리라
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.5 But be self-controlled in all things, do without comfort, go on preaching the good news, completing the work which has been given you to do.5 그러나 너는 모든 일에 근신하여 고난을 받으며 전도인의 일을 하며 네 직무를 다하라
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.6 For I am even now being offered, and my end is near.6 관제와 같이 벌써 내가 부음이 되고 나의 떠날 기약이 가까왔도다
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:7 I have made a good fight, I have come to the end of my journey, I have kept the faith:7 내가 선한 싸움을 싸우고 나의 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.8 From now on, the crown of righteousness is made ready for me, which the Lord, the upright judge, Will give to me at that day: and not only to me, but to all those who have had love for his revelation.8 이제 후로는 나를 위하여 의의 면류관이 예비되었으므로 주 곧 의로우신 재판장이 그 날에 내게 주실 것이니 내게만 아니라 주의 나타나심을 사모하는 모든 자에게니라
Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:9 Do your best to come to me before long:9 너는 어서 속히 내게로 오라
For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.10 For Demas has gone away from me, for love of this present life, and has gone to Thessalonica: Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.10 데마는 이 세상을 사랑하여 나를 버리고 데살로니가로 갔고 그레스게는 갈라디아로, 디도는 달마디아로 갔고
Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and take him with you; for he is of use to me in the work.11 누가만 나와 함께 있느니라 네가 올 때에 마가를 데리고 오라 저가 나의 일에 유익하니라
And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.12 Tychicus I sent to Ephesus.12 두기고는 에베소로 보내었노라
The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.13 The coat which I did not take from Troas and which is with Carpus, get when you come, and the books, specially the papers.13 네가 올 때에 내가 드로아 가보의 집에 둔 겉옷을 가지고 오고 또 책은 특별히 가죽 종이에 쓴 것을 가져오라
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:14 Alexander the copper-worker did me much wrong: the Lord will give him the reward of his works:14 구리 장색 알렉산더가 내게 해를 많이 보였으매 주께서 그 행한대로 저에게 갚으시리니
Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.15 But be on the watch for him, for he was violent in his attacks on our teaching.15 너도 저를 주의하라 저가 우리 말을 심히 대적하였느니라
At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.16 At my first meeting with my judges, no one took my part, but all went away from me. May it not be put to their account.16 내가 처음 변명할 때에 나와 함께한 자가 하나도 없고 다 나를 버렸으나 저희에게 허물을 돌리지 않기를 원하노라
Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.17 But the Lord was by my side and gave me strength; so that through me the news might be given out in full measure, and all the Gentiles might give ear: and I was taken out of the mouth of the lion.17 주께서 내 곁에 서서 나를 강건케 하심은 나로 말미암아 전도의 말씀이 온전히 전파되어 이방인으로 듣게 하려 하심이니 내가 사자의 입에서 건지웠느니라
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.18 The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in his kingdom in heaven: to whom be glory for ever and ever. So be it.18 주께서 나를 모든 악한 일에서 건져내시고 또 그의 천국에 들어가도록 구원하시리니 그에게 영광이 세세 무궁토록 있을찌어다 아멘
Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.19 Give my love to Prisca and Aquila and those of the house of Onesiphorus.19 브리스가와 아굴라와 및 오네시보로의 집에 문안하라

Eubulus sends you his love, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia, and all the brothers.21 겨울 전에 너는 어서 오라 으불로와 부데와 리노와 글라우디아와 모든 형제가 다 네게 문안하느니라
The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.22 나는 주께서 네 심령에 함께 계시기를 바라노니 은혜가 너희와 함께 있을찌어다
