1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.1 In the days of David they were short of food for three years, year after year; and David went before the Lord for directions. And the Lord said, On Saul and on his family there is blood, because he put the Gibeonites to death.1 다윗의 시대에 년부년 삼년 기근이 있으므로 다윗이 여호와 앞에 간구하매 여호와께서 가라사대 이는 사울과 피를 흘린 그 집을 인함이니 저가 기브온 사람을 죽였음이니라 하시니라
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)2 Then the king sent for the Gibeonites; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but were the last of the Amorites, to whom the children of Israel had given an oath; but Saul, in his passion for the children of Israel and Judah, had made an attempt on their lives:)2 기브온 사람은 이스라엘 족속이 아니요 아모리 사람 중에서 남은 자라 이스라엘 족속들이 전에 저희에게 맹세하였거늘 사울이 이스라엘과 유다 족속을 위하여 열심이 있으므로 저희 죽이기를 꾀하였더라 이에 왕이 기브온 사람을 불러 물으니라
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?3 So David said to the Gibeonites, What may I do for you? how am I to make up to you for your wrongs, so that you may give a blessing to the heritage of the Lord?3 다윗이 저희에게 묻되 내가 너희를 위하여 어떻게 하랴 내가 어떻게 속죄하여야 너희가 여호와의 기업을 위하여 복을 빌겠느냐
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.4 And the Gibeonites said to him, It is not a question of silver and gold between us and Saul or his family; and it is not in our power to put to death any man in Israel. And he said, Say, then, what am I to do for you?4 기브온 사람이 대답하되 사울과 그 집과 우리 사이의 일은 은금에 있지 아니하오나 이스라엘 가운데서 사람을 죽이는 일은 우리에게 있지 아니하니이다 왕이 가로되 너희의 말하는대로 시행하리라
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,5 And they said to the king, As for the man by whom we were wasted, and who made designs against us to have us completely cut off from the land of Israel,5 저희가 왕께 고하되 우리를 학살하였고 또 우리를 멸하여 이스라엘 경내에 머물지 못하게 하려고 모해한 사람의
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.6 Let seven men of his family be given up to us and we will put an end to them by hanging them before the Lord in Gibeon, on the hill of the Lord. And the king said, I will give them.6 자손 일곱을 내어 주소서 여호와의 빼신 사울의 고을 기브아에서 우리가 저희를 여호와 앞에서 목매어 달겠나이다 왕이 가로되 내가 내어 주리라 하니라
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD'S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.7 But the king did not give up Mephibosheth, the son of Saul's son Jonathan, because of the Lord's oath made between David and Jonathan, the son of Saul.7 그러나 다윗과 사울의 아들 요나단 사이에 서로 여호와를 가리켜 맹세한 것이 있으므로 왕이 사울의 손자 요나단의 아들 므비보셋은 아끼고
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:8 But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Saul to whom Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, had given birth; and the five sons of Saul's daughter Merab, whose father was Adriel, the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:8 이에 아야의 딸 리스바에게서 난 자 곧 사울의 두 아들 알모니와 므비보셋과 사울의 딸 메랍에게서 난 자 곧 므홀랏 사람 바실래의 아들 아드리엘의 다섯 아들을 잡고
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven ㆍ together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.9 And he gave them up to the Gibeonites, and they put them to death, hanging them on the mountain before the Lord; all seven came to their end together in the first days of the grain-cutting, at the start of the cutting of the barley.9 저희를 기브온 사람의 손에 붙이니 기브온 사람이 저희를 산 위에서 여호와 앞에 목매어 달매 저희 일곱 사람이 함께 죽으니 죽은 때는 곡식 베는 처음날 곧 보리 베기 시작하는 때더라
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.10 And Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took haircloth, placing it on the rock as a bed for herself, from the start of the grain-cutting till rain came down on them from heaven; and she did not let the birds of the air come near them by day, or the beasts of the field by night.10 아야의 딸 리스바가 굵은 베를 가져다가 자기를 위하여 반석 위에 펴고 곡식 베기 시작할 때부터 하늘에서 비가 시체에 쏟아지기까지 그 시체에 낮에는 공중의 새가 앉지 못하게 하고 밤에는 들짐승이 범하지 못하게 한지라
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.11 And news was given to David of what Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, one of Saul's wives, had done.11 이에 아야의 딸 사울의 첩 리스바의 행한 일이 다윗에게 들리매
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead ㆍ, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the men of Jabesh-gilead, who had taken them away secretly from the public place of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had put them, hanging up the bodies there on the day when they put Saul to death in Gilboa:12 다윗이 가서 사울의 뼈와 그 아들 요나단의 뼈를 길르앗 야베스 사람에게서 취하니 이는 전에 블레셋 사람이 사울을 길보아에서 죽여 벳산 거리에 매어 단 것을 저희가 가만히 가져 온 것이라
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.13 And he took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from that place; and they got together the bones of those who had been put to death by hanging.13 다윗이 그곳에서 사울의 뼈와 그 아들 요나단의 뼈를 가지고 올라 오매 사람들이 그 달려 죽은 자들의 뼈를 거두어다가
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.14 And they put them with the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the resting-place of Kish, his father, in Zela in the country of Benjamin; they did all the king had given them orders to do. And after that, God gave ear to their prayers for the land.14 사울과 그 아들 요나단의 뼈와 함께 베냐민 땅 셀라에서 그 아비 기스의 묘에 장사하되 모두 왕의 명대로 좇아 행하니라 그 후에야 하나님이 그 땅을 위하여 기도를 들으시니라
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.15 And the Philistines went to war again with Israel; and David went down with his people, and while they were at Gob they had a fight with the Philistines:15 블레셋 사람이 다시 이스라엘을 치거늘 다윗이 그 신복들과 함께 내려 가서 블레셋 사람과 싸우더니 다윗이 피곤하매
16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.16 And there came against David one of the offspring of the Rephaim, whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, and having a new sword, he made an attempt to put David to death.16 장대한 자의 아들 중에 삼백 세겔중 되는 놋창을 들고 새 칼을 찬 이스비브놉이 다윗을 죽이려 하므로
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.17 But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, came to his help, and, turning on the Philistine, gave him his death-blow. Then David's men took an oath, and said, Never again are you to go out with us to the fight, so that you may not put out the light of Israel.17 스루야의 아들 아비새가 다윗을 도와 그 블레셋 사람을 쳐 죽이니 다윗의 종자들이 다윗에게 맹세하여 가로되 왕은 다시 우리와 함께 전장에 나가지 마옵소서 이스라엘의 등불이 꺼지지 말게 하옵소서 하니라
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.18 Now after this there was war with the Philistines again at Gob, and Sibbecai the Hushathite put to death Saph, one of the offspring of the Rephaim.18 그 후에 다시 블레셋 사람과 곱에서 전쟁할 때에 후사 사람 십브개가 장대한 자의 아들 중에 삽을 쳐죽였고
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.19 And again there was war with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan, the son of Jair the Beth-lehemite, put to death Goliath the Gittite, the stem of whose spear was like a cloth-worker's rod.19 또 다시 블레셋 사람과 곱에서 전쟁할 때에 베들레헴 사람 야레오르김의 아들 엘하난이 가드 골리앗의 아우 라흐미를 죽였는데 그 자의 창 자루는 베틀채 같았더라
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature ㆍ, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.20 And again there was war at Gath, where there was a very tall man, who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on his hands and six toes on his feet; he was one of the offspring of the Rephaim.20 또 가드에서 전쟁할 때에 그곳에 키 큰 자 하나는 매 손과 매 발에 가락이 여섯씩 모두 스물 네 가락이 있는데 저도 장대한 자의 소생이라
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah the brother of David slew him.21 And when he was purposing to put shame on Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimei, David's brother, put him to death.21 저가 이스라엘 사람을 능욕하므로 다윗의 형 삼마의 아들 요나단이 저를 죽이니라
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.22 These four were of the offspring of the Rephaim in Gath; and they came to their end by the hands of David and his servants.22 이 네 사람 가드의 장대한 자의 소생이 다윗의 손과 그 신복의 손에 다 죽었더라
