2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken beforeby the holyprophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the LordandSaviour:
2 So that you may keep in mind the words of the holy prophets in the past, and the law of the Lord and Saviour which was given to you by his Apostles.
2 곧 거룩한 선지자의 예언한 말씀과 주 되신 구주께서 너희의 사도들로 말미암아 명하신 것을 기억하게 하려 하노라

BBE: So that you may keep in mind the words of the holy prophets in the past, and the law of the Lord and Saviour which was given to you by his Apostles. 4 Saying, Where is the hope of his coming? From the death of the fathers till now everything has gone on as it was from the making of the world.
4 가로되 주의 강림하신다는 약속이 어디 있느뇨 조상들이 잔 후로부터 만물이 처음 창조할 때와 같이 그냥 있다 하니
[x]MKJV: and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For since [the] fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of creation. BBE: Saying, Where is the hope of his coming? From the death of the fathers till now everything has gone on as it was from the making of the world. 5Forthistheywillingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavenswere of old, and the earth standing outof the waterandin the water:
5 But in taking this view they put out of their minds the memory that in the old days there was a heaven, and an earth lifted out of the water and circled by water, by the word of God;
5 이는 하늘이 옛적부터 있는 것과 땅이 물에서 나와 물로 성립한 것도 하나님의 말씀으로 된 것을 저희가 부러 잊으려 함이로다
[x]MKJV: For this is hidden from them [by their] willing it, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of the water, and through water, being held together by the word of God, BBE: But in taking this view they put out of their minds the memory that in the old days there was a heaven, and an earth lifted out of the water and circled by water, by the word of God; KAV: 그들은 이 사실 즉 [하나님]의 말씀으로 말미암아 하늘들이 옛적부터 있고 또 땅이 물에서 나와 물 가운데 서 있는 것을 일부러 알려 하지 아니하느니라. 6Wherebytheworld that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7But the heavensand the earth, which are now, by the samewordare kept in store, reserved unto fireagainst the day of judgmentandperdition of ungodlymen.
7 But the present heaven and the present earth have been kept for destruction by fire, which is waiting for them on the day of the judging and destruction of evil men.
7 이제 하늘과 땅은 그 동일한 말씀으로 불사르기 위하여 간수하신바 되어 경건치 아니한 사람들의 심판과 멸망의 날까지 보존하여 두신 것이니라
8But, beloved, benotㆍignorant of this onething, thatonedayiswith the Lordas a thousandyears, and a thousandyearsasoneday.
8 But, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day.
8 사랑하는 자들아 주께는 하루가 천년 같고 천년이 하루 같은 이 한가지를 잊지 말라
[x]MKJV: But, beloved, let not this one thing be hidden [from you], that one day [is] with [the] Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. BBE: But, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day. 9 The Lordisnotslack concerning his promise, as some mencountslackness; but is longsufferingtous-ward, notwilling that any should perish, but that all should cometorepentance.
9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways.
9 주의 약속은 어떤이의 더디다고 생각하는 것 같이 더딘 것이 아니라 오직 너희를 대하여 오래 참으사 아무도 멸망치 않고 다 회개하기에 이르기를 원하시느니라
[x]MKJV: The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not purposing that any [of us] should perish, but that all should come to repentance. BBE: The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; and in that day the heavens will be rolled up with a great noise, and the substance of the earth will be changed by violent heat, and the world and everything in it will be burned up.
10 그러나 주의 날이 도적 같이 오리니 그 날에는 하늘이 큰 소리로 떠나 가고 체질이 뜨거운 불에 풀어지고 땅과 그 중에 있는 모든 일이 드러나리로다

And the earth and the works in it will be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things are coming to such an end, what sort of persons is it right for you to be, in all holy behaviour and righteousness,
11 이 모든 것이 이렇게 풀어지리니 너희가 어떠한 사람이 되어야 마땅하뇨 거룩한 행실과 경건함으로
12 Looking forandhasting unto the coming of the day of God, whereintheheavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
12 Looking for and truly desiring the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will come to an end through fire, and the substance of the earth will be changed by the great heat?
12 하나님의 날이 임하기를 바라보고 간절히 사모하라 그 날에 하늘이 불에 타서 풀어지고 체질이 뜨거운 불에 녹아지려니와
[x]MKJV: looking for and rushing the coming of the Day of God, on account of which [the] heavens, being on fire, will melt away, and [the] elements will melt, burning with heat? 13 우리는 그의 약속대로 의의 거하는바 새 하늘과 새 땅을 바라보도다
[x]MKJV: But according to His promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. BBE: But having faith in his word, we are looking for a new heaven and a new earth, which will be the resting-place of righteousness. KAV: 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 그분의 약속에 따라 의가 거하는 새 하늘들과 새 땅을 기다리는도다. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of himinpeace, without spot, andblameless.
14 For this reason, my loved ones, as you are looking for these things, take great care that when he comes you may be in peace before him, free from sin and every evil thing.
14 그러므로 사랑하는 자들아 너희가 이것을 바라보나니 주 앞에서 점도 없고 흠도 없이 평강 가운데서 나타나기를 힘쓰라
[x]MKJV: Therefore, beloved, looking for these things, be diligent, spotless, and without blemish, to be found by Him in peace. BBE: For this reason, my loved ones, as you are looking for these things, take great care that when he comes you may be in peace before him, free from sin and every evil thing. 15 또 우리 주의 오래 참으심이 구원이 될 줄로 여기라 우리 사랑하는 형제 바울도 그 받은 지혜대로 너희에게 이같이 썼고

16 또 그 모든 편지에도 이런 일에 관하여 말하였으되 그 중에 알기 어려운 것이 더러 있으니 무식한 자들과 굳세지 못한 자들이 다른 성경과 같이 그것도 억지로 풀다가 스스로 멸망에 이르느니라

17 For this reason, my loved ones, having knowledge of these things before they take place, take care that you are not turned away by the error of the uncontrolled, so falling from your true faith.
17 그러므로 사랑하는 자들아 너희가 이것을 미리 알았은즉 무법한 자들의 미혹에 이끌려 너희 굳센데서 떨어질까 삼가라
