Believers are cautioned against false teachers, and the certainty of their punishment shown from examples. (1-9) An account of these seducers, as exceedingly wicked. (10-16) But as making high pretences to liberty and purity. (17-22)
KJV BBE KRV
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.1 But there were false prophets among the people, as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly put forward wrong teachings for your destruction, even turning away from the Lord who gave himself for them; whose destruction will come quickly, and they themselves will be the cause of it.1 그러나 민간에 또한 거짓 선지자들이 일어났었나니 이와 같이 너희 중에도 거짓 선생들이 있으리라 저희는 멸망케 할 이단을 가만히 끌어들여 자기들을 사신 주를 부인하고 임박한 멸망을 스스로 취하는 자들이라
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.2 And a great number will go with them in their evil ways, through whom the true way will have a bad name.2 여럿이 저희 호색하는 것을 좇으리니 이로 인하여 진리의 도가 훼방을 받을 것이요
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.3 And in their desire for profit they will come to you with words of deceit, like traders doing business in souls: whose punishment has been ready for a long time and their destruction is watching for them.3 저희가 탐심을 인하여 지은 말을 가지고 너희로 이를 삼으니 저희 심판은 옛적부터 지체하지 아니하며 저희 멸망은 자지 아니하느니라
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;4 For if God did not have pity for the angels who did evil, but sent them down into hell, to be kept in chains of eternal night till they were judged;4 하나님이 범죄한 천사들을 용서치 아니하시고 지옥에 던져 어두운 구덩이에 두어 심판때까지 지키게 하셨으며
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;5 And did not have mercy on the world which then was, but only kept safe Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he let loose the waters over the world of the evil-doers;5 옛 세상을 용서치 아니하시고 오직 의를 전파하는 노아와 그 일곱 식구를 보존하시고 경건치 아니한 자들의 세상에 홍수를 내리셨으며
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;6 And sent destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah, burning them up with fire as an example to those whose way of life might in the future be unpleasing to him;6 소돔과 고모라 성을 멸망하기로 정하여 재가 되게 하사 후세에 경건치 아니할 자들에게 본을 삼으셨으며
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:7 And kept safe Lot, the upright man, who was deeply troubled by the unclean life of the evil-doers7 무법한 자의 음란한 행실을 인하여 고통하는 의로운 롯을 건지셨으니
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)8 (Because the soul of that upright man living among them was pained from day to day by seeing and hearing their crimes):8 (이 의인이 저희 중에 거하여 날마다 저 불법한 행실을 보고 들음으로 그 의로운 심령을 상하니라)
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:9 The Lord is able to keep the upright safe in the time of testing, and to keep evil-doers under punishment till the day of judging;9 주께서 경건한 자는 시험에서 건지시고 불의한 자는 형벌 아래 두어 심판날까지 지키시며
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.10 But specially those who go after the unclean desires of the flesh, and make sport of authority. Ready to take chances, uncontrolled, they have no fear of saying evil of those in high places:10 육체를 따라 더러운 정욕 가운데서 행하며 주관하는 이를 멸시하는 자들에게 특별히 형벌하실 줄을 아시느니라 이들은 담대하고 고집하여 떨지 않고 영광 있는 자를 훼방하거니와
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.11 Though the angels, who are greater in strength and power, do not make use of violent language against them before the Lord.11 더 큰 힘과 능력을 가진 천사들이라도 주 앞에서 저희를 거스려 훼방하는 송사를 하지 아니하느니라
But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;12 But these men, like beasts without reason, whose natural use is to be taken and put to death, crying out against things of which they have no knowledge, will undergo that same destruction which they are designing for others;12 그러나 이 사람들은 본래 잡혀 죽기 위하여 난 이성 없는 짐승 같아서 그 알지 못한 것을 훼방하고 저희 멸망 가운데서 멸망을 당하며
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;13 For the evil which overtakes them is the reward of their evil-doing: such men take their pleasure in the delights of the flesh even in the daytime; they are like the marks of a disease, like poisoned wounds among you, feasting together with you in joy;13 불의의 값으로 불의를 당하며 낮에 연락을 기쁘게 여기는 자들이니 점과 흠이라 너희와 함께 연회할 때에 저희 간사한 가운데 연락하며
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:14 Having eyes full of evil desire, never having enough of sin; turning feeble souls out of the true way; they are children of cursing, whose hearts are well used to bitter envy;14 음심이 가득한 눈을 가지고 범죄하기를 쉬지 아니하고 굳세지 못한 영혼들을 유혹하며 탐욕에 연단된 마음을 가진 자들이니 저주의 자식이라
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;15 Turning out of the true way, they have gone wandering in error, after the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who was pleased to take payment for wrongdoing;15 저희가 바른 길을 떠나 미혹하여 브올의 아들 발람의 길을 좇는도다 그는 불의의 삯을 사랑하다가
But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.16 But his wrongdoing was pointed out to him: an ass, talking with a man's voice, put a stop to the error of the prophet.16 자기의 불법을 인하여 책망을 받되 말 못하는 나귀가 사람의 소리로 말하여 이 선지자의 미친 것을 금지하였느니라
These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.17 These are fountains without water, and mists before a driving storm; for whom the eternal night is kept in store.17 이 사람들은 물 없는 샘이요 광풍에 밀려 가는 안개니 저희를 위하여 캄캄한 어두움이 예비되어 있나니
For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.18 For with high-sounding false words, making use of the attraction of unclean desires of the flesh, they get into their power those newly made free from those who are living in error;18 저희가 허탄한 자랑의 말을 토하여 미혹한데 행하는 사람들에게서 겨우 피한 자들을 음란으로써 육체의 정욕 중에서 유혹하여
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome , of the same is he brought in bondage.19 Saying that they will be free, while they themselves are the servants of destruction; because whatever gets the better of a man makes a servant of him.19 저희에게 자유를 준다 하여도 자기는 멸망의 종들이니 누구든지 진 자는 이긴 자의 종이 됨이니라
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome , the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.20 For if, after they have got free from the unclean things of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again taken in the net and overcome, their last condition is worse than their first.20 만일 저희가 우리 주 되신 구주 예수 그리스도를 앎으로 세상의 더러움을 피한 후에 다시 그 중에 얽매이고 지면 그 나중 형편이 처음보다 더 심하리니
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.21 For it would have been better for them to have had no knowledge of the way of righteousness, than to go back again from the holy law which was given to them, after having knowledge of it.21 의의 도를 안 후에 받은 거룩한 명령을 저버리는 것보다 알지 못하는 것이 도리어 저희에게 나으니라
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.22 They are an example of that true saying, The dog has gone back to the food it had put out, and the pig which had been washed to its rolling in the dirty earth.22 참 속담에 이르기를 개가 그 토하였던 것에 돌아가고 돼지가 씻었다가 더러운 구덩이에 도로 누웠다 하는 말이 저희에게 응하였도다
