1 Then Elisha said, Give ear to the word of the Lord: the Lord says, Tomorrow, about this time, a measure of good meal will be offered for the price of a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the market-place of Samaria.
1 엘리사가 가로되 여호와의 말씀을 들을찌어다 여호와께서 가라사대 내일 이맘때에 사마리아 성문에서 고운 가루 한 스아에 한 세겔을 하고 보리 두 스아에 한 세겔을 하리라 하셨느니라
2 Then a lord on whose hand the kingleanedanswered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would makewindows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt seeit with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.[x]MKJV: And the third officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, [if] the LORD would make windows in heaven, then this thing might be. And he said, Behold, you shall see with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it. BBE: Then the captain whose arm was supporting the king said to the man of God, Even if the Lord made windows in heaven, would such a thing be possible? And he said, Your eyes will see it, but you will not have a taste of the food. KAV: 그때에 한 귀족 곧 손으로 왕을 부축하는 자가 [하나님]의 사람에게 응답하여 이르되, 보라, {주}께서 하늘에 창들을 내신들 이런 일이 있으리요? 하매 엘리사가 이르되, 보라, 네가 네 눈으로 그것을 볼 터이나 그것을 먹지는 못하리라, 하니라.
2 Then the captain whose arm was supporting the king said to the man of God, Even if the Lord made windows in heaven, would such a thing be possible? And he said, Your eyes will see it, but you will not have a taste of the food.
2 그 때에 한 장관 곧 왕이 그 손에 의지하는 자가 하나님의 사람에게 대답하여 가로되 여호와께서 하늘에 창을 내신들 어찌 이런 일이 있으리요 엘리사가 가로되 네가 네 눈으로 보리라 그러나 그것을 먹지는 못하리라 하니라
3 And there were fourleprousmen at the entering in of the gate: and they saidone to another, Why sit we here until we die?[x]MKJV: And four men, lepers, were at the gate entrance. And they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die? BBE: Now there were four lepers seated at the doorway into the town: and they said to one another, Why are we waiting here for death? KAV: ¶ 성문 어귀에 나병 환자 네 사람이 있었는데 그들이 서로 이르되, 우리가 어찌하여 죽기까지 여기 앉아 있겠느냐?

4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famineis in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.[x]MKJV: If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine [is] in the city, and we shall die there. And if we still sit here, we also shall die. And now come and let us fall to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we shall live. And if they kill us, we shall only die. BBE: If we say, We will go into the town, there is no food in the town, and we will come to our end there; and if we go on waiting here, death will come to us. Come then, let us give ourselves up to the army of Aram: if they let us go on living, then life will be ours; and if they put us to death, then death will be ours. KAV: 우리가 말하기를, 도시에 들어가리라, 해도 도시 안에 기근이 있으므로 우리가 거기서 죽을 것이요, 여기 가만히 앉아 있어도 죽으리로다. 그런즉 이제 오라. 우리가 시리아 사람들의 군대에게 항복하자. 그들이 우리를 살려 두면 우리가 살려니와 그들이 우리를 죽이면 우리가 죽을 따름이라, 하고
4 If we say, We will go into the town, there is no food in the town, and we will come to our end there; and if we go on waiting here, death will come to us. Come then, let us give ourselves up to the army of Aram: if they let us go on living, then life will be ours; and if they put us to death, then death will be ours.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.[x]MKJV: And they rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. And when they had come to the outermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, no man [was] there! BBE: So in the half light they got up to go to the tents of Aram; but when they came to the outer line of tents, there was no one there. KAV: 그들이 시리아 사람들의 진영으로 가려고 황혼에 일어나서 시리아 진영의 맨 끝 부분에 이르렀더니, 보라, 그곳에 한 사람도 없더라.
5 So in the half light they got up to go to the tents of Aram; but when they came to the outer line of tents, there was no one there.

6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a greathost: and they saidone to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.[x]MKJV: For the LORD had made the army of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots and a noise of horses, the noise of a great army. And they said to one another, Lo, the king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians against us, to come on us. BBE: For the Lord had made the sound of carriages and horses, and the noise of a great army, come to the ears of the Aramaeans, so that they said to one another, Truly, the king of Israel has got the kings of the Hittites and of the Egyptians for a price to make an attack on us. 6 For the Lord had made the sound of carriages and horses, and the noise of a great army, come to the ears of the Aramaeans, so that they said to one another, Truly, the king of Israel has got the kings of the Hittites and of the Egyptians for a price to make an attack on us.
6 이는 주께서 아람 군대로 병거 소리와 말소리와 큰 군대의 소리를 듣게 하셨으므로 아람 사람이 서로 말하기를 이스라엘 왕이 우리를 치려하여 헷 사람의 왕들과 애굽 왕들에게 값을 주고 저희로 우리에게 오게 하였다 하고
7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.[x]MKJV: And they arose and fled in the twilight and left their tents and their horses and their asses, the camp, as it [was], and fled for their life. BBE: So they got up and went in flight, in the half light, without their tents or their horses or their asses or any of their goods; they went in flight, fearing for their lives. KAV: 그러므로 일어나서 황혼에 도망하되 자기들의 장막과 말과 나귀를 버리고 또 진영을 그대로 두고 자기들의 생명을 건지려고 도망하였더라.
7 So they got up and went in flight, in the half light, without their tents or their horses or their asses or any of their goods; they went in flight, fearing for their lives.

8 And when these leperscame to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into onetent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hidit; and came again, and entered into anothertent, and carried thence also, and went and hidit.[x]MKJV: And when these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried silver and gold and clothing from there, and went and hid [it]. And they came again and entered into another tent and carried from there, and went and hid [it]. BBE: And when those lepers came to the outer line of tents, they went into one tent, and had food and drink, and took from it silver and gold and clothing, which they put in a secret place; then they came back and went into another tent from which they took more goods, which they put away in a secret place. KAV: 이 나병 환자들이 진영의 맨 끝 부분에 이르러 한 장막에 들어가 먹고 마시고 거기서 은과 금과 의복을 가지고 가서 감추고 다시 와서 다른 장막에 들어가 거기서도 가지고 가서 감추니라.
8 And when those lepers came to the outer line of tents, they went into one tent, and had food and drink, and took from it silver and gold and clothing, which they put in a secret place; then they came back and went into another tent from which they took more goods, which they put away in a secret place.
8 그 문둥이들이 진 가에 이르자 한장막에 들어가서 먹고 마시고 거기서 은과 금과 의복을 가지고 가서 감추고 다시 와서 다른 장막에 들어가서 거기서도 가지고 가서 감추니라
9 Then they saidone to another, We do not well: this dayis a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morninglight, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king'shousehold.[x]MKJV: And they said to one another, We are not doing right. This day [is] a day of good news, and we hold our peace. If we stay until the morning light, some punishment will come on us. And now come, so that we may go and tell the king's household. BBE: Then they said to one another, We are not doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we say nothing: if we go on waiting here till the morning, punishment will come to us. So let us go and give the news to those of the king's house. KAV: 그때에 그들이 서로 이르되, 우리가 잘 행하지 아니하는도다. 이 날은 좋은 소식이 있는 날이거늘 우리가 잠잠하고 있도다. 만일 우리가 동틀 때까지 기다리면 어떤 화가 우리에게 임하리니 그런즉 이제 오라. 우리가 가서 왕의 집안에게 고하자, 하고
9 Then they said to one another, We are not doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we say nothing: if we go on waiting here till the morning, punishment will come to us. So let us go and give the news to those of the king's house.
9 문둥이가 서로 말하되 우리의 소위가 선치 못하도다 오늘날은 아름다운 소식이 있는 날이어늘 우리가 잠잠하고 있도다 만일 밝은 아침까지 기다리면 벌이 우리에게 미칠찌니 이제 떠나 왕궁에 가서 고하자 하고
10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horsestied, and assestied, and the tents as they were.[x]MKJV: And they came and called to the porter of the city. And they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, no man [was] there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they [were. BBE: So they came in, and, crying out to the door-keepers of the town, they gave them the news, saying, We came to the tents of the Aramaeans, and there was no one there and no voice of man, only the horses and the asses in their places, and the tents as they were. KAV: 이에 그들이 가서 도시의 문지기를 부르고 그들에게 고하여 이르되, 우리가 시리아 사람들의 진영에 이르렀는데, 보소서, 거기에 한 사람도 없고 사람의 음성도 없으며 오직 말과 나귀만 매여 있고 장막들이 그대로 있더이다, 하매
10 So they came in, and, crying out to the door-keepers of the town, they gave them the news, saying, We came to the tents of the Aramaeans, and there was no one there and no voice of man, only the horses and the asses in their places, and the tents as they were.
10 드디어 가서 성 문지기를 불러 고하여 가로되 우리가 아람 진에 이르러 보니 거기 한 사람도 없고 사람의 소리도 없고 오직 말과 나귀만 매여 있고 장막들이 그대로 있더이다
11 And he called the porters; and they toldit to the king'shousewithin.[x]MKJV: And he called the porters. And they told [it] to the king's house inside. BBE: Then the door-keepers, crying out, gave the news to those inside the king's house. KAV: 그가 문지기들을 부르니 그들이 안에 있는 왕의 집에 그것을 고하니라.
11 Then the door-keepers, crying out, gave the news to those inside the king's house.

12 And the kingarose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we behungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.[x]MKJV: And the king arose in the night and said to his servants, I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we [are] hungry, and they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive and get into the city. BBE: Then the king got up in the night and said to his servants, This is my idea of what the Aramaeans have done to us. They have knowledge that we are without food; and so they have gone out of their tents, and are waiting secretly in the open country, saying, When they come out of the town, we will take them living and get into the town. KAV: ¶ 왕이 밤에 일어나 자기 신하들에게 이르되, 시리아 사람들이 우리에게 행한 것을 내가 너희에게 이제 보여 주려 하노니 그들이 우리가 주린 것을 알고 있으므로 진영에서 나가 들에 숨고는 말하기를, 그들이 도시에서 나오거든 우리가 그들을 사로잡고 도시에 들어가겠다, 하였느니라, 하매
12 Then the king got up in the night and said to his servants, This is my idea of what the Aramaeans have done to us. They have knowledge that we are without food; and so they have gone out of their tents, and are waiting secretly in the open country, saying, When they come out of the town, we will take them living and get into the town.
12 왕이 밤에 일어나 그 신복들에게 이르되 아람 사람이 우리에게 행한 것을 내가 너희에게 알게 하노니 저희가 우리의 주린 것을 아는고로 그 진을 떠나서 들에 매복하고 스스로 이르기를 저희들이 성에서 나오거든 우리가 사로잡고 성에 들어가겠다 한 것이니라
13 And one of his servantsanswered and said, Let sometake, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.[x]MKJV: And one of his servants answered and said, Please let [some] take five of the horses which remain, which are left in the city; behold, they [are] like all the multitude of Israel that are left in it; behold, they [are] even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed. And we will send and see. BBE: And one of his servants said in answer, Send men and let them take five of the horses which we still have in the town; if they keep their lives they will be the same as those of Israel who are still living here; if they come to their death they will be the same as all those of Israel who have gone to destruction: let us send and see. 13 And one of his servants said in answer, Send men and let them take five of the horses which we still have in the town; if they keep their lives they will be the same as those of Israel who are still living here; if they come to their death they will be the same as all those of Israel who have gone to destruction: let us send and see.
13 그 신복중 하나가 대답하여 가로되 청컨대 아직 성중에 남아 있는 말 다섯 필을 취하고 사람을 보내어 정탐하게 하소서 이 말들이 성중에 남아 있는 이스라엘 온 무리 곧 멸망한 이스라엘 온 무리와 같으니이다 하고
14 They took therefore twochariothorses; and the kingsentafter the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.[x]MKJV: And they took two chariots [with] horses. And the king sent after the army of the Syrians, saying, Go and see. BBE: So they took two horsemen; and the king sent them after the army of the Aramaeans, saying, Go and see. KAV: 그러므로 그들이 병거에 쓸 말 두 마리를 취하매 왕이 시리아 사람들의 군대 뒤로 사람들을 보내며 이르기를, 가서 보라, 하였더니

15 And they wentafter them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the waywasfull of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengersreturned, and told the king.[x]MKJV: And they went after them to Jordan. And, lo, all the way [was] full of clothing and vessels which the Syrians had thrown away in their haste. And the messengers returned and told the king. BBE: And they went after them as far as Jordan; and all the road was covered with clothing and vessels dropped by the Aramaeans in their flight. So those who were sent went back and gave the news to the king. KAV: 그들이 시리아 사람들의 뒤를 따라 요르단에 이른즉, 보라, 시리아 사람들이 급한 김에 내버린 의복과 기구가 온 길에 가득하였더라. 사자들이 돌아와서 왕에게 고하매
15 And they went after them as far as Jordan; and all the road was covered with clothing and vessels dropped by the Aramaeans in their flight. So those who were sent went back and gave the news to the king.

16 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.[x]MKJV: And the people went out and plundered the tents of the Syrians. And it happened, a measure of fine flour was [sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD. BBE: Then the people went out and took the goods from the tents of the Aramaeans. So a measure of good meal was to be had for the price of a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, as the Lord had said. KAV: 백성이 나가서 시리아 사람들의 장막들을 노략하니라. 이에 {주}의 말씀과 같이 고운 밀가루 일 세아가 일 세겔에 팔리고 보리 이 세아가 일 세겔에 팔리니라.
16 Then the people went out and took the goods from the tents of the Aramaeans. So a measure of good meal was to be had for the price of a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, as the Lord had said.

17 And the kingappointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the peopletrode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.[x]MKJV: And the king appointed the third officer over the gate, [the one] on whose hand he had leaned. And the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him. BBE: And the king gave authority to that captain, on whose arm he was supported, to have control over the doorway into the town; but he was crushed to death there under the feet of the people, as the man of God had said when the king went down to him. KAV: ¶ 왕이 손으로 자기를 부축하던 그 귀족을 임명하여 성문의 책무를 맡게 하였는데 백성이 성문에서 그를 밟으매 왕이 [하나님]의 사람에게 내려 왔을 때에 [하나님]의 사람이 말한 대로 그가 죽었더라.
17 And the king gave authority to that captain, on whose arm he was supported, to have control over the doorway into the town; but he was crushed to death there under the feet of the people, as the man of God had said when the king went down to him.
17 왕이 그 손에 의지하였던 그 장관을 세워 성문을 지키게 하였더니 백성이 성문에서 저를 밟으매 하나님의 사람의 말대로 죽었으니 곧 왕이 내려왔을 때에 그의 한 말대로라
18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:[x]MKJV: And it happened according to the saying of the man of God to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel: [This] shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria. BBE: So the words of the man of God came true, which he said to the king: Two measures of barley will be offered for the price of a shekel and a measure of good meal for a shekel, tomorrow about this time in the market-place of Samaria. KAV: 전에 [하나님]의 사람이 왕에게 말하여 이르기를, 내일 이맘때에 사마리아 성문에서 보리 이 세아가 일 세겔에 팔리고 고운 밀가루 일 세아가 일 세겔에 팔리리라, 한즉
18 So the words of the man of God came true, which he said to the king: Two measures of barley will be offered for the price of a shekel and a measure of good meal for a shekel, tomorrow about this time in the market-place of Samaria.

19 And that lordanswered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should makewindows in heaven, might such a thing be? 19 And that captain said to the man of God, Even if the Lord made windows in heaven, would such a thing be possible? And he said to him, Your eyes will see it, but you will not have a taste of the food.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the peopletrode upon him in the gate, and he died.[x]MKJV: And it happened to him, for the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died. BBE: And such was his fate; for he was crushed to death under the feet of the people, in the doorway into the town. KAV: 그 일이 그에게 그대로 임하였으니 백성이 성문에서 그를 밟으매 그가 죽었더라.
