1 Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, There is not room enough for us in the place where we are living under your care;

2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every manabeam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.[x]MKJV: Please let us go to Jordan. BBE: So let us go to Jordan, and let everyone get to work cutting boards, and we will make a living-place for ourselves there. And he said to them, Go, then. KAV: 청하건대 우리가 요르단으로 가서 거기서 각 사람이 재목 하나씩을 취하여 거기에 처소를 만들고 거기에 거하사이다, 하매 엘리사가 응답하되, 너희는 가라, 하니
2 So let us go to Jordan, and let everyone get to work cutting boards, and we will make a living-place for ourselves there. And he said to them, Go, then.
2 우리가 요단으로 가서 거기서 각각 한 재목을 취하여 그곳에 우리의 거할 처소를 세우사이다 엘리사가 가로되 가라
3 And onesaid, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.[x]MKJV: And one said, Be content, please, and go with your servants. And he answered them, I will go. BBE: And one of them said, Be pleased to go with your servants. And he said, I will go. KAV: 한 사람이 이르되, 원하건대 흡족히 여기시고 당신의 종들과 함께하소서, 하매 엘리사가 응답하되, 내가 가리라, 하고
3 And one of them said, Be pleased to go with your servants. And he said, I will go.

4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut downwood.[x]MKJV: And he went with them. And they came to Jordan, and they cut down trees. BBE: So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they got to work cutting down trees. KAV: 이에 그가 그들과 함께 가니라. 그들이 요르단에 이르러 나무를 베더라.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they got to work cutting down trees.
4 드디어 저희와 함께 가니라 무리가 요단에 이르러 나무를 베더니
5 But as one was felling a beam, the ax headfell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.[x]MKJV: And it happened as one was felling a log, the axe-head fell into the water. And he cried and said, Alas, master! For it was borrowed. BBE: But one of them, while cutting a board, let the head of his axe go into the water; and he gave a cry, and said, This is a bad business, my master, for it is another's. KAV: 그러나 한 사람이 재목을 벨 때에 도끼머리가 물 속에 떨어졌으므로 그가 외쳐 이르되, 아 슬프다, 주인이여! 그것은 빌려 온 것이니이다, 하니
5 But one of them, while cutting a board, let the head of his axe go into the water; and he gave a cry, and said, This is a bad business, my master, for it is another's.

6 And the man of Godsaid, Wherefell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and castit in thither; and the iron did swim.[x]MKJV: And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick and threw [it] in there. And the iron swam. BBE: And the man of God said, Where did it go in? and when he saw the place where it had gone into the water, cutting a stick, he put it into the water, and the iron came up to the top of the water. KAV: [하나님]의 사람이 이르되, 그것이 어디에 떨어졌느냐? 하매 그가 그에게 그곳을 보여 주므로 엘리사가 나뭇가지를 베어 거기에 던지니 그 쇠가 떠오르니라.
6 And the man of God said, Where did it go in? and when he saw the place where it had gone into the water, cutting a stick, he put it into the water, and the iron came up to the top of the water.
6 하나님의 사람이 가로되 어디 빠졌느냐 하매 그곳을 보이는지라 엘리사가 나무가지를 베어 물에 던져서 도끼로 떠오르게 하고
7 Therefore said he, Take itup to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.[x]MKJV: And he said, take [it] up to you. And he put out his hand and took it. BBE: Then he said, Take it up. So he put out his hand and took it. KAV: 그러므로 그가 이르되, 그것을 네게로 들어 올리라, 하니 그 사람이 자기 손을 내밀어 그것을 취하니라.

8 Then the king of Syriawarred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a placeshall be my camp.[x]MKJV: And the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place [shall be] my camp. BBE: At that time the king of Aram was making war against Israel; and he had a meeting with the chiefs of his army and said, I will be waiting in secret in some named place. KAV: ¶ 그때에 시리아 왕이 이스라엘과 싸우며 자기 신하들과 의논하여 이르기를, 내 진영이 이러이러한 곳에 있으리라, 하였더니
8 At that time the king of Aram was making war against Israel; and he had a meeting with the chiefs of his army and said, I will be waiting in secret in some named place.
8 때에 아람 왕이 이스라엘로 더불어 싸우며 그 신복들과 의논하여 이르기를 우리가 아무데 아무데 진을 치리라 하였더니
9 And the man of Godsent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.[x]MKJV: And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that you do not pass such a place, for the Syrians have come down there. BBE: And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Take care to keep away from that place, for the Aramaeans are waiting there in secret. KAV: [하나님]의 사람이 이스라엘 왕에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, 왕은 조심하여 이러한 곳으로 지나가지 마소서. 시리아 사람들이 그곳으로 내려왔나이다, 하매
9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Take care to keep away from that place, for the Aramaeans are waiting there in secret.
9 하나님의 사람이 이스라엘 왕에게 기별하여 가로되 왕은 삼가 아무 곳으로 지나가지 마소서 아람 사람이 그곳으로 나오나이다
10 And the king of Israelsent to the place which the man of Godtold him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.[x]MKJV: And the king of Israel sent to the place of which the man of God told him and warned him, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. BBE: So the king of Israel sent to the place where the man of God had said there was danger, and kept clear of it more than once. KAV: 이스라엘 왕이 [하나님]의 사람이 자기에게 고하여 경고를 준 곳으로 사람을 보내어 거기서 자신을 구원하더라. 이런 일이 한 두 번이 아니더라.
10 So the king of Israel sent to the place where the man of God had said there was danger, and kept clear of it more than once.
10 이스라엘 왕이 하나님의 사람의 자기에게 고하여 경계한 곳으로 사람을 보내어 방비하기가 한 두번이 아닌지라
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?[x]MKJV: And the heart of the king of Syria was enraged for this thing. And he called his servants and said to them, Will you not show me which of us [is] for the king of Israel? BBE: And at this, the mind of the king of Aram was greatly troubled, and he sent for his servants and said to them, Will you not make clear to me which of us is helping the king of Israel? KAV: 이러므로 이 일로 인해 시리아 왕의 마음이 매우 괴롭게 되어 그가 자기 신하들을 불러 그들에게 이르되, 우리 가운데 누가 이스라엘 왕을 돕는지 너희가 내게 알려 주려 하지 아니하느냐? 하니
11 And at this, the mind of the king of Aram was greatly troubled, and he sent for his servants and said to them, Will you not make clear to me which of us is helping the king of Israel?
11 이러므로 아람 왕의 마음이 번뇌하여 그 신복들을 불러 이르되 우리 중에 누가 이스라엘 왕의 내응이 된 것을 내게 고하지 아니하느냐
12 And one of his servantssaid, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.[x]MKJV: And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king, but Elisha the prophet, who [is] in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom. BBE: And one of them said, Not one of us, my lord king; but Elisha, the prophet in Israel, gives the king of Israel news of the words you say even in your bedroom. KAV: 그의 신하들 가운데 한 사람이 이르되, 오 내 주 왕이여, 아니로소이다. 오직 이스라엘에 있는 대언자 엘리사가 왕께서 왕의 침실에서 하신 말씀이라도 이스라엘 왕에게 고하나이다, 하니라.
12 And one of them said, Not one of us, my lord king; but Elisha, the prophet in Israel, gives the king of Israel news of the words you say even in your bedroom.
12 그 신복 중에 하나가 가로되 우리 주 왕이여 아니로소이다 오직 이스라엘 선지자 엘리사가 왕이 침실에서 하신 말씀이라도 이스라엘 왕에게 고하나이다
13 And he said, Go and spywhere he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.[x]MKJV: And he said, Go and spy where he [is], so that I may send and bring him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, [he is] in Dothan. BBE: Then he said, Go and see where he is, so that I may send and get him. And news came to him that he was in Dothan. KAV: ¶ 왕이 이르되, 가서 그가 어디 있나 살펴보라. 내가 사람을 보내어 그를 잡아오리라, 하니 어떤 이가 왕에게 고하여 이르되, 보소서, 그가 도단에 있나이다, 하매
13 Then he said, Go and see where he is, so that I may send and get him. And news came to him that he was in Dothan.
13 왕이 가로되 너희는 가서 엘리사가 어디 있나 보라 내가 보내어 잡으리라 혹이 왕에게 고하여 가로되 엘리사가 도단에 있나이다
14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a greathost: and they came by night, and compassed the cityabout.[x]MKJV: And he sent there horses and chariots and a great army. And they came by night and surrounded the city. BBE: So he sent there horses and carriages and a great army; and they came by night, circling the town. KAV: 그러므로 그가 말과 병거들과 큰 군대를 거기로 보내니 그들이 밤에 가서 그 도시를 에워쌌더라.
14 So he sent there horses and carriages and a great army; and they came by night, circling the town.
14 왕이 이에 말과 병거와 많은 군사를 보내매 저희가 밤에 가서 그 성을 에워쌌더라
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risenearly, and gone forth, behold, an hostcompassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servantsaid unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?[x]MKJV: And the servant of the man of God arose early and went out. And, behold, an army surrounded the city, and horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? BBE: Now the servant of the man of God, having got up early and gone out, saw an army with horses and carriages of war all round the town. And the servant said to him, O my master, what are we to do? KAV: [하나님]의 사람의 종이 일찍 일어나서 나가니, 보라, 군대가 말과 병거들과 함께 그 도시를 에워쌌으므로 그의 종이 엘리사에게 이르되, 아 슬프다, 내 주인이여! 우리가 어찌하리이까? 하매
15 Now the servant of the man of God, having got up early and gone out, saw an army with horses and carriages of war all round the town. And the servant said to him, O my master, what are we to do?
15 하나님의 사람의 수종드는 자가 일찌기 일어나서 나가보니 군사와 말과 병거가 성을 에워쌌는지라 그 사환이 엘리사에게 고하되 아아, 내 주여 우리가 어찌하리이까
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us aremore than they that be with them.[x]MKJV: And he answered, Do not fear, for those with us [are] more than those with them. BBE: And he said in answer, Have no fear; those who are with us are more than those who are with them. KAV: 그가 대답하되, 두려워하지 말라. 우리와 함께한 자들이 그들과 함께한 자들보다 많으니라, 하고
16 And he said in answer, Have no fear; those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
16 대답하되 두려워하지 말라 우리와 함께한 자가 저와 함께한 자보다 많으니라 하고
17 And Elishaprayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORDopened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountainwasfull of horses and chariots of fire round aboutElisha.[x]MKJV: And Elisha prayed and said, I pray You, LORD, open his eyes so that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. BBE: Then Elisha made a prayer to the Lord, saying, Lord, let his eyes be open so that he may see. And the Lord made the young man's eyes open; and he saw that all the mountain was full of horses and carriages of fire round Elisha. KAV: 기도하여 이르되, {주}여, 원하건대 그의 눈을 여시사 그가 보게 하옵소서, 하니 {주}께서 그 청년의 눈을 여시매 그가 보니, 보라, 불 말과 불 병거가 산에 가득하여 엘리사를 둘렀더라.
17 Then Elisha made a prayer to the Lord, saying, Lord, let his eyes be open so that he may see. And the Lord made the young man's eyes open; and he saw that all the mountain was full of horses and carriages of fire round Elisha.
17 기도하여 가로되 여호와여 원컨대 저의 눈을 열어서 보게 하옵소서 하니 여호와께서 그 사환의 눈을 여시매 저가 보니 불말과 불병거가 산에 가득하여 엘리사를 둘렀더라
18 And when they came down to him, Elishaprayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.[x]MKJV: And they came down to it, and Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, I pray You, strike this people with blindness. And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. BBE: Now when the Aramaeans came down to Elisha, he made a prayer to the Lord saying, Lord, make this people blind. And he made them blind at Elisha's request. KAV: 시리아 사람들이 엘리사에게 내려오매 그가 {주}께 기도하여 이르되, 원하건대 이 사람들을 치사 눈을 어둡게 하옵소서, 하니 그분께서 엘리사의 말대로 그들을 치사 눈을 어둡게 하시니라.
18 Now when the Aramaeans came down to Elisha, he made a prayer to the Lord saying, Lord, make this people blind. And he made them blind at Elisha's request.
18 아람 사람이 엘리사에게 내려오매 엘리사가 여호와께 기도하여 가로되 원컨대 저 무리의 눈을 어둡게 하옵소서 하매 엘리사의 말대로 그 눈을 어둡게 하신지라
19 And Elishasaid unto them, This is not the way, neither isthis the city: followㆍ me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.[x]MKJV: And Elisha said to them, This [is] not the way, nor [is] this the city. Follow me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. But he led them to Samaria. BBE: And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, and this is not the town: come after me so that I may take you to the man you are searching for. And he took them to Samaria. KAV: ¶ 엘리사가 그들에게 이르되, 이것은 그 길이 아니요, 이것은 그 도시가 아니니 나를 따라오라. 너희가 찾는 사람에게로 내가 너희를 데려가리라, 하였으나 그들을 사마리아로 인도하니라.
19 And Elisha said to them, This is not the way, and this is not the town: come after me so that I may take you to the man you are searching for. And he took them to Samaria.
19 엘리사가 저희에게 이르되 이는 그 길이 아니요 이는 그 성도 아니니 나를 따라 오라 내가 너희를 인도하여 너희의 찾는 사람에게로 나아가리라 하고 저희를 인도하여 사마리아에 이르니라
20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elishasaid, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORDopened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.[x]MKJV: And it happened when they came into Samaria, Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these [men] so that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw. And behold, [they were] in the middle of Samaria. BBE: And when they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, Lord, let the eyes of these men be open so that they may see. And the Lord made their eyes open, and they saw that they were in the middle of Samaria. KAV: 그들이 사마리아로 들어갈 때에 엘리사가 이르되, {주}여, 이 사람들의 눈을 여시사 그들이 보게 하옵소서, 하니 {주}께서 그들의 눈을 여시매 그들이 보니, 보라, 자기들이 사마리아 한가운데 있더라.
20 And when they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, Lord, let the eyes of these men be open so that they may see. And the Lord made their eyes open, and they saw that they were in the middle of Samaria.

21 And the king of Israelsaid unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smitethem? shall I smitethem?[x]MKJV: And when he saw them, the king of Israel said to Elisha, My father, shall I strike [them]? Shall I strike [them] ? BBE: And the king of Israel, when he saw them, said to Elisha, My father, am I to put them to the sword? KAV: 이스라엘 왕이 그들을 보고 엘리사에게 이르되, 내 아버지여, 내가 그들을 치리이까? 내가 그들을 치리이까? 하니
21 And the king of Israel, when he saw them, said to Elisha, My father, am I to put them to the sword?
21 이스라엘 왕이 저희를 보고 엘리사에게 이르되 내 아버지여 내가 치리이까 내가 치리이까
22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smitethem: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? setbread and waterbefore them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.[x]MKJV: And he answered, You shall not strike [them]. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them so that they may eat and drink, and go to their master. BBE: But he said in answer, You are not to put them to death; have you any right to put to death those whom you have not taken prisoner with your sword and your bow? put bread and water before them, so that they may have food and drink and go to their master. KAV: 그가 대답하되, 그들을 치지 마소서. 왕께서 왕의 칼과 활로 사로잡은 저 사람들을 치려 하시나이까? 빵과 물을 그들 앞에 차려 주어 그들이 먹고 마시게 하고 자기들의 주인에게로 가게 하소서, 하매
22 But he said in answer, You are not to put them to death; have you any right to put to death those whom you have not taken prisoner with your sword and your bow? put bread and water before them, so that they may have food and drink and go to their master.
22 대답하되 치지 마소서 칼과 활로 사로잡은 자인들 어찌 치리이까 떡과 물을 그 앞에 두어 먹고 마시게 하고 그 주인에게로 돌려 보내소서
23 And he preparedgreatprovision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syriacame no more into the land of Israel.[x]MKJV: And he prepared a great feast for them. And when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel. BBE: So he made ready a great feast for them, and when they had had food and drink, he sent them away and they went back to their master. And no more bands of Aramaeans came into the land of Israel. KAV: 왕이 그들을 위하여 음식을 많이 베풀고 그들이 먹고 마신 뒤에 그들을 보내니 그들이 자기들의 주인에게로 가니라. 이리하여 시리아의 무리들이 다시는 이스라엘 땅에 들어오지 못하니라.
23 So he made ready a great feast for them, and when they had had food and drink, he sent them away and they went back to their master. And no more bands of Aramaeans came into the land of Israel.
23 왕이 위하여 식물을 많이 베풀고 저희가 먹고 마시매 놓아보내니 저희가 그 주인에게로 돌아가니라 이로부터 아람 군사의 부대가 다시는 이스라엘 땅에 들어오지 못하니라
24 And it came to pass after this, that Benhadadking of Syriagathered all his host, and went up, and besiegedSamaria.[x]MKJV: And it happened after this Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his army and went up and lay siege to Samaria. BBE: Now after this, Ben-hadad, king of Aram, got together all his army and went up to make an attack on Samaria, shutting the town in on all sides with his forces. KAV: ¶ 이 일 뒤에 시리아 왕 벤하닷이 자기의 온 군대를 모으고 올라와서 사마리아를 에워싸니
24 Now after this, Ben-hadad, king of Aram, got together all his army and went up to make an attack on Samaria, shutting the town in on all sides with his forces.

25 And there was a greatfamine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an assshead was sold for fourscorepieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dungㆍforfivepieces of silver.[x]MKJV: And there was a great famine in Samaria. And, behold, they besieged it until an ass's head was [sold] for eighty [pieces] of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five silver pieces. BBE: And they became very short of food in Samaria; for they kept it shut in till the price of an ass's head was eighty shekels of silver, and a small measure of doves' droppings was five shekels of silver. KAV: 사마리아에 큰 기근이 있더라. 보라, 시리아 사람들이 사마리아를 에워쌌으므로 마침내 나귀 머리 하나가 은 여든 개에 팔리고 비둘기 똥 사분의 일 갑이 은 다섯 개에 팔리더라.
25 And they became very short of food in Samaria; for they kept it shut in till the price of an ass's head was eighty shekels of silver, and a small measure of doves' droppings was five shekels of silver.

26 And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.[x]MKJV: And as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king! BBE: And when the king of Israel was going by on the wall, a woman came crying out to him, and said, Help! my lord king. KAV: 이스라엘 왕이 성벽 위로 지나갈 때에 한 여인이 그에게 외쳐 이르되, 오 내 주 왕이여 도우소서, 하매
26 And when the king of Israel was going by on the wall, a woman came crying out to him, and said, Help! my lord king.
26 이스라엘 왕이 성 위로 통과할 때에 한 여인이 외쳐 가로되 나의 주 왕이여 도우소서
27 And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?[x]MKJV: And he said, if the LORD does not help you, from where shall I help you? Out of the barn-floor, or out of the winepress? BBE: And he said, If the Lord does not give you help, where am I to get help for you? from the grain-floor or the grape-crusher? KAV: 왕이 이르되, {주}께서 너를 돕지 아니하시면 내가 어디에서 나는 것으로 너를 도우랴? 창고 마당에서 나는 것으로 하랴? 아니면 포도즙 틀에서 나는 것으로 하랴? 하고
27 And he said, If the Lord does not give you help, where am I to get help for you? from the grain-floor or the grape-crusher?
27 왕이 가로되 여호와께서 너를 돕지 아니하시면 내가 무엇으로 너를 도우랴 타작마당으로 말미암아 하겠느냐 포도주 틀로 말미암아 하겠느냐
28 And the kingsaid unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This womansaid unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.[x]MKJV: And the king said to her, What [ails] you? And she said, This woman said to me, Give your son so that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow. BBE: And the king said to her, What is troubling you? And she said in answer, This woman said to me, Give your son to be our food today, and we will have my son tomorrow. KAV: 또 그녀에게 이르되, 너를 괴롭게 하는 것이 무엇이냐? 하니 그녀가 응답하되, 이 여인이 내게 말하기를, 네 아들을 내라. 우리가 오늘 그를 먹고 내일은 내 아들을 먹으리라, 하매
28 And the king said to her, What is troubling you? And she said in answer, This woman said to me, Give your son to be our food today, and we will have my son tomorrow.
28 또 가로되 무슨 일이냐 여인이 대답하되 이 여인이 내게 이르기를 네 아들을 내라 우리가 오늘날 먹고 내일은 내 아들을 먹자 하매
29 So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the nextday, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.[x]MKJV: And we boiled my son and ate him. And I said to her on the other day, Give your son so that we may eat him. And she has hidden her son. BBE: So, boiling my son, we had a meal of him; and on the day after I said to her, Now give your son for our food; but she has put her son in a secret place. KAV: 이에 우리가 내 아들을 삶아 먹었나이다. 다음 날 내가 그녀에게 이르되, 네 아들을 내라. 우리가 그를 먹으리라, 하였으나 그녀가 자기 아들을 숨겼나이다, 하니라.
29 So, boiling my son, we had a meal of him; and on the day after I said to her, Now give your son for our food; but she has put her son in a secret place.
29 우리가 드디어 내 아들을 삶아 먹었더니 이튿날에 내가 이르되 네 아들을 내라 우리가 먹으리라 하나 저가 그 아들을 숨겼나이다
30 And it came to pass, when the kingheard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the peoplelooked, and, behold, he hadsackclothwithin upon his flesh.[x]MKJV: And it happened when the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. And he passed by on the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, [he had] sackcloth inside on his flesh. BBE: Then the king, hearing what the woman said, took his robes in his hands, violently parting them; and, while he was walking on the wall, the people, looking, saw that under his robe he had haircloth on his flesh. KAV: ¶ 왕이 그 여인의 말을 듣고 자기 옷을 찢으니라. 그가 성벽 위로 지나갈 때에 백성이 보니, 보라, 왕이 그의 속살에 굵은 베를 입었더라.
30 Then the king, hearing what the woman said, took his robes in his hands, violently parting them; and, while he was walking on the wall, the people, looking, saw that under his robe he had haircloth on his flesh.
30 왕이 그 여인의 말을 듣고 자기 옷을 찢으니라 저가 성 위로 지나갈 때에 백성이 본즉 그 속살에 굵은 베를 입었더라
31 Then he said, Goddo so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.[x]MKJV: And he said, May God do so, and more also, to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day. BBE: Then he said, May God's punishment come on me if Elisha, the son of Shaphat, keeps his head on his body after this day. KAV: 그때에 왕이 이르되, 이 날 사밧의 아들 엘리사의 머리가 그의 몸에 붙어 있으면 [하나님]께서 내게 벌을 내리시고 더 내리시기를 원하노라, 하니라.
31 Then he said, May God's punishment come on me if Elisha, the son of Shaphat, keeps his head on his body after this day.
31 왕이 가로되 사밧의 아들 엘리사의 머리가 오늘날 그 몸에 붙어 있으면 하나님이 내게 벌 위에 벌을 내리실찌로다 하니라
32 But Elishasat in his house, and the elderssat with him; and the kingsent a man from before him: but ere the messengercame to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messengercometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master'sfeetbehind him?[x]MKJV: But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him. And he sent a man from before him. [But] before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold him fast at the door. [Is] not the sound of his master's feet behind him? BBE: But Elisha was in his house, and the responsible men were seated there with him; and before the king got there, Elisha said to those who were with him, Do you see how this cruel and violent man has sent to take away my life? KAV: 그러나 엘리사는 자기 집에 앉았고 장로들도 그와 함께 앉았더라. 왕이 자기 앞에서부터 사람을 보내었으나 그 사자가 엘리사에게 이르기 전에 그가 장로들에게 이르되, 너희는 살인한 자의 이 아들이 내 머리를 취하려고 사람을 보낸 것을 보느냐? 보라, 사자가 오거든 문을 닫고 그를 문에서 굳게 잡아 두라. 그의 주인의 발소리가 그의 뒤에서 나지 아니하느냐? 하고
32 But Elisha was in his house, and the responsible men were seated there with him; and before the king got there, Elisha said to those who were with him, Do you see how this cruel and violent man has sent to take away my life?
32 그 때에 엘리사가 그 집에 앉았고 장로들이 저와 함께 앉았는데 왕이 자기 처소에서 사람을 보내었더니 그 사자가 이르기 전에 엘리사가 장로들에게 이르되 너희는 이 살인한 자의 자식이 내 머리를 취하려고 사람을 보내는 것을 보느냐 너희는 보다가 사자가 오거든 문을 닫고 문 안에 들이지 말라 그 주인의 발소리가 그 뒤에서 나지 아니하느냐 하고
33 And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evilis of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?[x]MKJV: While he still talked with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. And he said, Behold, this evil [is] from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer? BBE: While he was still talking to them, the king came down and said, This evil is from the Lord; why am I to go on waiting any longer for the Lord? KAV: 아직 그들과 이야기할 때에, 보라, 그 사자가 그에게 내려오니라. 그가 이르되, 보라, 이 재앙이 {주} 에게서 왔으니 어찌 내가 {주}를 더 기다리리요? 하니라.
33 While he was still talking to them, the king came down and said, This evil is from the Lord; why am I to go on waiting any longer for the Lord?
33 무리와 말씀할 때에 그 사자가 이르니라 왕이 가로되 이 재앙이 여호와께로부터 나왔으니 어찌 더 여호와를 기다리리요
